Having read reports of this hotel we were thinking of cancelling but I got a report from a Canadian lady.

The hotel food is so so sometimes, good some times, not so good. Breakfast was bacon eggs toast cereal.

The staff were cleaning most of the day and night. We were all inclusive they could serve you any quicker as soon as you went to the bar you got served quite quickly.

Hotel is situated as close to the beach as possible a minutes walk it is at the very end of the road into puntarena my wife is crippled with rhumertoid athritus and there are ramps to most places, just the 24 hour bar we couldn't get to no problem they servered you at the side which was flat.

The entertainment was good but if you stayed 2 weeks it was repeated the 2nd week.

We didn't do any trips the wife just wanted to stay around the hotel might sound boring but it was what we wanted we found giving a little tip to folk was so welcolme.

The food isn't 5 star but it is edible, hot breakfast, hot lunch at the beach hut and the snack bar was open until tea time then opened at 11am or 11.30pm at night

First time to the South.

Hotel staff was great especially the Bartenders.

Very disappointed in the food at the resort. I went into town to the Plaza Americana for great food.

Beach sand was a little rough due to sea shells but the sun was incredible.

Only 2 hiccups while there, my shoes went missing from my room and never recovered and secondly, some of us from the resort went after hours with the entertainment personnal and were left behind in a shady neighbourhood. We ended up taking a cab back on our own. Turns out they are not allowed to take tourists off resort property and make them pay for transportation, entrance fees to clubs or beer in the clubs...

Other than that, the hotel was great. The cook at night was great. He loves to sing and he is very good at it. Just ask him!!!!!

Don't go to Cuba expecting the same style of "all inclusive" that you get elsewhere.

The hotel [3*] is a bit 1970's Arndale Centre.

The bar staff are a bit reluctant to serve you if you dont have big breasts(!), and the food is a bit like school dinners.

The rooms are fine, clean with no end of hot water. What else do you need in a hotel room?

The beach is very good, cleaned every day and with no beach vendors selling rubbish.

The resort of Varedero does not have much to offer but if you go into the town itself there is plenty to see and do.

We hired a car and went to Havana for the weekend.
Havana is something else altogether [in a good way]!

The only downsides to the holiday were...
1. the fact that the kids in the hotel constantly played in the lifts and the parents [all Brits] never took any notice.
2. the second week the hotel was full of Italians. Enough said.

A major plus is that Cuba is not Americanised in any way at all.
Do not go expecting anything like you may have found elsewhere in the Caribbean, it is a totally different culture.

We have just returned from this hotel which we picked up on a late booking.

The hotel is run down but ok. The gardens are ok, the pool is quite good, the beer not bad.

Now the bad bits: All inclusive including the FOOD POISONING that 47 people went down with on Thursday evening 28/7/06. This hotels standards regarding food is digraceful. The cross contamination is unbelievable, and they dont care nor do Thomas Cook or their reps. They sent a customer relations person (a welsh lady)and when she was let into the kitchen, said it met their standards. What a laugh 47 very poorly and

We were very disappointed with the hotel, staff were unfriendly, lifts not working, furnishings were disgusting, flies everywhere and cockroaches.

Food wasn't very apettising. And there was very little choice.

We stayed at the Superclubs Puntarena and would not recommend it to anyone.

Food hygiene was terrible, flies and birds on the food at the bbq and flies allover the food inside. The chillers did not appear to work properly and the milk was tepid. The vegetables that were not eaten at dinner appeared to be served at breakfast.

The pool is large but the is very little shade and no umbrellas. The bar hygiene was also poor and flies could be seen over various different pourers.

The Hotel room was adequate, but quite tatty. On the upside most of the staff were friendly. But we moved hotels for the second week and our holiday improved 100%.
