E3 entertainment very poor, firstchoice reps are ok if you have no problems as soon as you do they are not very helpful we never had a problem but that was the feed back from other guest.beach not very good ,paphos harbour only a 20 min walk away and very nice, bar staff very good over all holiday ok i would not return to this holiday village as i feel i did not get very much for the 3800.00 in which i paid.paphos airport was very good never had any problems nice beer garden at airport for the smokers,

We travelled to the aliathon holiday village, last week in june and 1st week in july and had a brilliant time.
I got married in Cyprus which was the reason as to why we went over, I got married on the 1st july 2008 at paphos town hall and had my reception at the poseidonas restaurant on paphos harbour.

Aliathon Accomodation
We stayed in a standard room which was fine for us, it was well spaced out, not much storage space though but in a nice location at the hotel I was in room 202 which was next to a pool, and not far from the entertainment complex which was good. I just advise any ladies out there to take some extra hangers in your suitcase and you'll be fine.
The only problem I had was a problem with ants, they were harmless but were always on top of the kitchen bench and I reported that to maintenance twice, no joy so I just went to the shop on the complex and got some ant spray, never had any more problems, the blind was also broken in the living room, again this was reported but nothing got done, but they were just minor things nothing to scream about.
Maid service was absolutley fantastic, our maid couldn't do enough for us, we had maid service every day except for a sunday, and everything was very clean and sheets were changed regular, and she used to tidy all my clothes up which I thought was very nice.

Food
The food was lovely in the aliathon, my husband loves different and unusual foods and he was extremely impressed with the food, lots of traditional greek things, I'm a vegetarian and there were lots of veggie food, pastas, salads, cheeses, feta, feta and more feta ha. macaroni cheese, various potato dishes lots of nice foods, also for kids there were plenty pizza, sausages, chips, burgers, nuggets fish fingers etc. Lots of fruits and ice cream too, breakfasts were really nice, you could basically have what you want for breakfast, fruits, full english, pancakes etc, lots of choice. I may also add I was a bit concerned about the food before I went as in past all inclusives they've mixed the spoons in the meat pasta with the veggie pasta, no problem here, chefs are there and everything is cleaned all the time and seperate spoons for everything.
Ate out at the mexican once, had a quaesidilla was nice, different to what you get in the uk, a nice change, but nothing to rave about, the greek restaurant was just similar things as to what was in the buffet, but a nice change and its nice to have waiter service, beware with both places there are some dishes not included in the all inclusive and you would have to pay for them

There are also other restaurants in the aliathon complex you can dine in, we went to the italian which was lovely for my hen party and the food was fab and reasonable, excellent service too.

Drinks
Drinks are good size measures, wine is lovely, its on tap, I only like dry white wine and it was a very nice dry wine, my husband said the red wine was lovely too. You can only get two drinks per person, which is not great especially if you have kids, but I see why they do it. Cocktails are available not many though, tequila sunrise, pina colada or ouzo special the rest you have to pay for, keo is the beer, I thought the drinks were good.
There are a couple of bars there, the entertainment complex which is the main one, and the adults only bar which is nice for a relaxing drink while the kids are in kids club.

Hotel
It is a lovely hotel, the new part is lovely really really nice, the new part is the fishing village and the apartments are very new and very luxurious. All the staff are lovely there the reps are very friendly, my stepdaughter got an ear infection on holiday and they told me about how to see a doctor whilst I was there, cost a lot of money went to a private hospital, cost 103 euros including taxi, worth it though as she was better after a day, not sure what you can buy in the pharmacies over there but they have rather odd opening hours and the nearest one was about a fifteen minute walk. We got seen by a doctor straight away too. I would advise anybody who have kids who love water to buy a product called swim ear which are drops to dry out the ear when you are in and out of water and reduces the chance of ear infections you can buy it on the plane.
There are four good pools, 2 in the older part and two in the newer part. There is a good kids pool next to the kids club, its very shallow, so ideal if you have very small kids. Lots of things for them to play on.
Parasols were few and far between on holiday lucky for me we were in a large group, so others had parasols for us to share, but I advise getting out very early to get them.

Kidsclubs
These were fabulous my stepdaughter and niece had a great time, they had different things on everyday, so it wasn't repetitive, they had the chance of chocolate parties, bingo etc.

swimkids
my step daughter and niece both done this, cause it wasn't so busy it was mainly one to one sessions, and she was a great instructor, both girls really enjoyed it and learnt a lot, vicky the instructor is great even of you're scared of water, she can do wonders, also by the end of the holiday the kids get a presentation in the entertainment complex to show what they have achieved which is a nice and proud moment.

e3
The entertainment team were brilliant i thought, different themes every night, not repetitive, they were great with kids too. They have a mixture of comedians, singers, dancers , fabulous I thought
also they do the magic envelope which is good, my mam and dad won it on the final night, which is fun, also they do a lot of activities to get the audience involved in too which is fun.

first choice wedding co-ordinators
When I went on holiday there were 18 weddings that flew in on the same day so they had to bring in some extra co-ordinators to cope with the demand. My wedding co-ordinator was Lisa, she was really nice, what i will say is beware they want you to spend spend spend once you're there.

I honestly suggest to anyone getting married abroad get what you can arranged over here before you go, especially if you are on a budget! However if you are like me and just worried about everything from start to finish then you honestly have no worries as your wedding co-ordinators sort everything out from start to finish, nothing is a problem believe me. I booked through first choice and was honestly really worried as you don't get any details when you book the wedding about extras, flowers, receptions etc, so i done what i could over here before i went.
I first met with the wedding co-ordinator the first night, she was lovely. They have layed out on the table evrything that they do for you from flowers to photos to hair, nails transport etc.
Lisa made sure everything was perfect for me from beginning to end.

Thats all I can say really about the hotel and services.

We stayed all inclusive in a standard apartment in the older part of the village. We did however encounter ants and cockroaches in the apartment obn several occasions. Other guests had the same problems in the ground floor appts too and some were moved.

Could not fault the food at all it was excellent with great choice.

Hotel 15minute bus journey to Paphos harbour, bus stop outstide hotel. Fanatastic Water park nearby a must.

Evening entertainment was poor, not the fault of the E3 team thought they tried really hard but just the same people singing every night got very boring and those big breaks in between everything where idiotic parents let their young children onto the stage to mess about. How annoying is that! If they fell off or got electrocuted from messing near the lights & speakers would they be happy then!!

Would not return unless evening entertainment got a whole lot better and would certainly not stay in the older part of the hotel again.

we visited in july and was impressed with the hotel. We stayed in two superior rooms in the old part and one delux studio in the fishing vilage. We to had ants we rang reception who came fast to sort it.We also asked for more coat hangers and they were delivered in minutes. The maid service was excellent. We had asked for rooms together when we arrived we were all seperate but this was soon sorted for two rooms but the delux studios are in the fishing village. The superior are in the old part. The fishing village is nicer.
The reception staff were helpful as the reps
We would definatly visit again but stay in the fishing village next time

Returned from the holiday village Aliathon on 7th july 2008. The new fishing village is so lovely, but wouldn't like to stay in the older part. Stayed in a deluxe room and it was spacious, clean and had all self catering facilities even though we were all inclusive. The pool was the warmest I've ever known a pool to be abroad and there was loads of things going on in the pool by the kids reps who would section a part off for things like canoeing,an inflatable ball or aqua aerobics etc. The kids water park was lovely for the little ones, warm safe and fun. There was plenty going on if you wanted to join in but wasn't forced to. The food was good but as with all the inclusive meals can get a bit boring especially for kids, but none of them complained as the chips and nuggets were lovely. The staff were all helpful and polite.Evening entertainment was good but did have enough of the entertainment team singing almost every night. Bingo, magic envelope and games were good. Don't agree to participate in the hypnotist show as you get stuck on stage for 2 hours sweating only to miss the free bar when the complete farce was over but audience liked it.Only 2 drinks per person was allowed, even soft drinks which you get used to but meant returning to the bar a few times if you have a family until the kids get used to getting their own.Went to limassol water park on a coach which was good. I would return to this hotel as I thought it was a lovely holiday.

We just returned from the Holiday Village Aliathon and we all had a fab time.

ACCOMODATION:
I was staying in a one bed superior and it was fine, spacious, spotless no ants etc. It wasn't cramped in any way. Admittedly it could've done with alot more storage but if that's my only gripe with a room on holiday then that's not too bad. I would just advise people to take extra hangers if possible as the wardrobe is huge but only has about 10 hangers in.

My parents were in a one bed standard and it was perfectly fine aswell.

FOOD & DRINK:

We enjoyed the food, it was of a very good standard for an all inclusive, it was always hot and plentiful. Not as much choice for dishes as other all inclusives we've been too but the quality was better. Nice salads and cold meats as well as 6 or 7 main dishes. Local and international choices plus stuff for the kids (pizza, sausages, nuggets, burgers, fish fingers and chips)
Breakfasts were good too with pancakes, omlettes eggs, cereal etc as well as a traditional cooked type breakfast. I enjoyed the fresh grapefruit with plain yoghurt in particular.

Drinks are good sized measures although you can only get 2 per person. The beer is KEO, which is nice! The wine wasn't bad either, it's on tap in the buffet! They do a few cocktails in the all inclusive plus 2 kids cocktails.

On our last night the hotel seemed to be much busier but there wasn't any extra staff on the bars in the ent area so there were more queues than usual. Not sure if there'll be more staff taken on as the season progresses.

The adults only bar is very pleasant, nice to sit outside on the balcony in the evening.

HOTEL:

The hotel is lovely, particularly the new fishing village. The new apartments look fab, really striking when you first see them, the whole fishing village is very well thought out.
The staff are excellent and work so hard. Everyone is so nice. We had a problem with our air con when we first got there, I reported it at 8am and it was fixed by 11am. Pretty good I thought!!
There are 4 pools in total, all have something different to offer. All are warm and cleaned daily. There are 2 pools in the older part of the hotel which are quieter and then the main pool where the entertainment goes on during the day situated in the fishing village. We favoured the smaller kids splash pool in the fishing village. It is amazing......usually we have to follow our 2 year old around everywhere in a pool but here, he had no armbands on, the water is lovely and shallow and the slides, sprinklers, pirate ship and water tower are brilliant. He had a whale of a time......it's wonderful. The best I've ever seen on any holiday I've been on. I did get up early to get beds there though, it seems parasols are sometimes hard to find later on in the day. I was getting up at 7 - 7.30 ish to get them. The beds with parasols were usually gone by 9 ish. To be honest though, it was well worth the early mornings, just to have that time where I could sit down and watch my son enjoy himself instead of chasing him.

KIDS CLUBS:

Highly recommended, my 8 year old had a ball in the Superstars club. They do different themes every day (minibeasts, pirates, animals etc)and the reps are lovely.

My 2 year old attended the creche which was paid for before we went. He had a lovely time. They have 3 sessions during the day and 2 evening creches per week. This is something to look out for when pre booking the creche before you go because you do get the option to book 5 evening creche sessions over the 2 weeks via First Choice, the HV Aliathon only has 4 over the 2 weeks so we have ended up losing money there and we couldn't put our son in for any more sessions as we'd also paid for 12 daytime ones. The reps did offer to have him on another session to make up for it but I didn't need him in more during the day. The evening creche sessions might change as the season goes on but that's how it was when we were there.

I have to mention Vicky the Swim Kids instuctor who was fantastic with my daughter. She went from being extremely nervous and scared to put her face in the water, unable to jump in and unable to swim at all to swimming 25 metres amd jumping in all in 6 lessons. I can't praise Vicky enough. My daughter had lessons at the HV Turkey last year and achieved nothing so thank you Vicky!!

ENTERTAINMENT:

The ents team are fab, and work really hard. They are all good singers and dancers and get everyone involved. I enjoyed the evening entertainment, it's loud but it's supposed to be and it finishes at about 11.45pm.....not too late when you're on your hols. We saw it through til the end most nights even with a 2 year old so it wasn't too late for us.

They also have guest acts that come in from the UK most weeks. We saw 2 comedians when we were there and really enjoyed both.

As I say, we would go again and we don't say that about everywhere we go. We had a fab time at the Aliathon, no real complaints or grumbles....no dodgy tummies and no mozzie bites...........what more can you ask?

We stayed in the new Fishing Village. It was beautiful. We had a duplex apartment which has been the best accomodation we have had on holiday, though would not recommend this type of apartment for very young children as there is stairs which are made from a very hard marble which they could very easily have a fall, otherwise it was second to none with 2 bathrooms, the plasma TV's and a small kitchen, overall the hotel areas were very clean.

Food: There was a variety but sometimes got a bit boring especially after 2 weeks, though would recommend a visit to the Mexican restaurant.

There is a few things yet to be completed in this complex but can imagine it will be great when this is done.

The entertainment was 1st class, my kids aged 12 & 10 had a fantastic time with the First Choice interactive team, they never stopped and would like to thank each and everyone off the team.

I would most probably come back in the future.

We stayed at the Aliathon for 2 weeks in the older section. The new fishing village was a few minutes walk and was where the restaurant was located and most of the other facilities (kids club, splash park, entertainment, spa/gym) The gym had not yet been fitted with its 'state of the art' equipment although a member of staff told me had arrived at the port so they would be getting it very soon. The old gym equipment (mainly free weight stuff) was placed in the new gym.

Unfortunatley not all of the facilities were ready when we first arrived. The splash park opened the second week of our stay and the kids absolutely loved it. The spa opened a couple of days before we left so we didnt actually go there.

There were plenty of pools to choose from and we used the pools in both the old and new sections. We never had a problem obtaining beds or parasols, there were plenty around.

The food was very nice every night, the best we have had on a AI basis so far. The only problem was that the entertainment area is currently sectioned off the main restaurant so if you eat anytime from 8pm onwards you will hear the entertainment, which is quite loud. This wasnt a problem for us as we always ate in time to take the kids to the kids village club at 8pm.

We didnt stay for any of the other entertainment as we preferred to go to a bar. We stayed with other friends and family so preferred to get together by ourselves than stay for bingo and the other entertainment on offer.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Everywhere was clean, except for the toilets by the pool bar in the old section, which were gross. This did not reflect any other area we visited, which was all very clean, and mainly new!

The main problem was that were no restaurants or snacks available in the old section and with 2 toddlers in tow, we did not always want to wander over to the fishing village if we had based ourselves at the pool near our apartment.

We stayed in a superior apartment which was roomy and clean. The beds were uncomfortable though.

We got married at the aliaton, the staff went out of their way to make our stay and our wedding thoroughly enjoyable. Well exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be returning.

This was our 10th visit to the Aliathon, we love it that much! We always stay self-catering as we like to visit what now are our favourite restaurants in Paphos. We have eaten in the restaurants at the Aliathon, all of which are fab. Aegeon restaurant, Taste of India (Indian), PocoLoco (Mexican), the Italian which we cannot remember the name of, and the Greek Taverna in the new Fishing Village.
The location is approx 2 miles from Paphos Harbour and approx 25 minutes transfer from Paphos airport. There is entertainment in the Fishing Village but we didn't go as we like to use the pub - The Wild Horse. The Aliathon also has an outside bar.
The rooms are cleaned on a daily basis, towels changed daily - just leave them on the floor and the staff will know you want them changed. The hotel staff are more than accommodating and very friendly.
We are going again in September 2008!
