Location
One evening there was a rain storm. As we made our way down to dinner we discovered somehow the rain had got all over steps leading from our room to ground floor. It was extremely dangerous as there was not even a handrail. One evening in dining hall we noticed a live wire hanging out by the food buffet. It was then brought to my attention that keeping the food warm was hot water underneath. Very dangerous

The rooms and services provided are very poor. Facilities very very basic.
Food always luke warm or undercooked. Restaurant like a cattle market - no organisation and food quality poor unless you like cold chips.
Lack of TV/radio/air conditioning/ Smells of sewerage throughout our stay.
Neccessary toclean toilet areas with our own bleach.
Entertainment average and repetitive.
Holiday from hell really this hotel should not even be advertised in brochures for 2005/6

Rooms were bad, we moved 3 times and found all in a run down state. Toilet area smelled throughout, electrical wires loose below shower head!
Meal times were a joke, survival of fittest to get a plate, then a table, then cutlery and finally the scraps left over which were always luke warm.
This hotel is a disgrace and should not be listed in the holiday brochures.
I had to endure 14 days at hotel and almost a divorce.
This was not a holiday at all but a boot camp existence.
Other persons all with same view and some left to better hotel as they were not prepared to put up with the conditions.
This has put us off overseas holidays as this hotel had been recommended by our travel agent! Wish we had read the preview because we would have gone elsewhere.
This was an holiday from hell - and one which we will never forget.

On first impression very impressed with landscaped gardens etc very well kept and lots flowers.
The staff deserve medals for all the hard work they do.
Cleaners working from first thing onwards.
Hotel food - Continental Breakfast i.e. cereals (no taste), cheese/tomotoes/ham/ hot dogs or chorinzo sausage/scrambled eggs/jams - same every day but tomotoes every other day.
Evening Meal: in my opinion do not cater for kids and is sold as a family resort. I know it is a International hotel with various nationalities but in my opinion the Brits were only catered for with Chips every night, and the same meals every other night-do not cater with children menu and lot of different natinality kids.
Hotel location was nice-35 acre land gardens with 7 swimming pools/ kids arcade/kids park-lots for kids but was advised if we put 7 year old in if we had problems with language then the English Speaking Entertainment Staff would help.
Staff worked in morning on restaurant, then changed to beach restaurants/coffee bars etc, they were excellent.
2 reception areas as 928 rooms i.e. 2 or 4 to room estimate approx 3000 in hotel, certain reception staff attitude could be improved.
Entertainment repetitive.
I would visit this hotel again, but the Management need to re-think if selling as a family resport, then they need to cater for the kids more in the restaurant.
Most of the dishes were cooked in sauces, fair enough most kids don't like the normal chicken nuggests etc, but from what I saw a lot of kids had empty plates.

The food in this resort is not aimed at families. It is very basic and repetative. There is no food suitable for young children - only chips !
Location of the hotel is good, beach is reasonable but is mainly shingle. Hotel staff very helpful and speak good English.
Entertainment is very basic and again repetative - kids disco the same every evening.

Being a single parent you worry about the helpfullness from the hotel and if you're going to fit in with others and enjoy the place - but there was certainly no need to worry here. The kids thought the place was brilliant.
The staff were all fantastic and friendly. Not just one but various entertainments going off throughout the hotel every night. The gardens were beautiful and spacious. Lots of lovely pools to choose from. The food was delicious for both adults and kids (and believe me I have 2 very fussy eaters).
It has its own private beach which is lovely, clean and has lots of facilities serving food and drinks, etc on the beach.
Rooms were fine. Spacious, cleaned every day with a lovely patio.
P.S. We were a bit worried after reading a few bad reviews but glad we listened to the good ones. I mentioned the bad reviews to all the friends we met whilst there and they all laughed as not one could find a fault with the place.
Only one man who spoke to me as I was getting breakfast said something bad about the place. He said "i'd never come here again - as this place is TOO BIG" - made me laugh. Did he not look at the brochure first? DOH!!
Anyway given the choice of a hotel that has acres of beautiful gardens, its own beach, numerous night-time entertainments and numerous pools to choose from OR some cramped up dingy hotel with no entertainment, one pool with everyone around squashed like sardines and squeezed inbetween other hotels (like we've experienced before) then I'd choose the spacious complex anyday.
* We always go to a different resort and country every year as we like to try as many different cultures, etc as possible, and having been to almost all the top destinations MESSONGHI BEACH is the first place I would go back again!!!*
Also all the people who thought this hotel was awful - please let me know what hotels you rate as better because I'd love to try them - they must be fantastic!!!

The hotel animation team did a fantastic job but didn't pester you to join in if you didn't want to.This is one of the best entertainment teams i've seen in all the greek isles i've visited.

The staff at the hotel are fantastic (if you are visiting, say Hello to Phillipos at Le Jardin bar!).
The food is a bit monotonous, but there are plenty of bars and restaurants in the nearby Moraitika, if you feel like a change.
The hotel is very clean, as are the 5 swimming pools.
The hotel has its own beach which is clean and very safe, as there is no large waves, and no tides, due to the closeness of the Greek mainland.
Daily entertainment is provided (in all languages) by the very hardworking Animation team, who perform every night at one of the bars.
The hotel is excellent for children who will never be bored thanks to the many activities available.
The accomodation is basic, but cleaned daily.

the numerous pools scattered around the grounds are all very clean and the beach and the sea are right on your doorstep for beach lovers, for the children in the sea there is a large inflatable (i cant give you a report as it was broken while we were there). one word of warning you have to pay for the sunbeds around all the pools these are 2euros 50 a day each, it was a bit of a shock for us, but you find that there is always somewhere to sit or lay if you do not want to pay for a sunbed.
The hotel cleanliness was excellent, the cleaning staff were out at all hours of the day and night. the grounds are beautiful and there is so much to see and do. for the little ones there is the large park and there are some motorised cars and bikes that you can hire for a small fee, for the older ones there are numerous pool and air hockey tables. there is also a childrens disco on every evening, and other entertainment on elsewhere in the various bars around the hotel.
the location is very good as you can access other areas from there, either via the beach or up the drive, the walk up the drive is quite far but once you reach the top you can go either left or right and find lots of shops and tavernas.
the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.
the only downside was the food, it was okay but it got a little monotonous, and almost everything was in some sort of non-descript sauce, the soup was lovely and the bread rolls were nice too! but everyone must make their own minds up about the food, it was only our opinion.
we would definitley go back to the messonghi beach, in fact we are planning to go back next year, so it can't be that bad can it?
