San Stephanos is a small traditional Greek village with very friendly and approachable residents who are so friendly you feel as though you had lived there for years! There are a few supermarkets, souvenir shops, restaurants and bars (though not too many). There is also a small agency that can arrange any excursion to other parts of Corfu or car hire, telephones and money exchange.The beach is a lovely bay, safe for children and kept to a good standard. There are a few really good beach tavernas which are great value for a lunchtime break. The character who rents the beds on the beach loves to have a chat when you go down for you beds and brollies and nothing is a bother to him.
Inland there are some beautiful walks through olive groves in the surrounding hills to places like the neighbouring village of Arrilas. I would say the place is suitable for couples or families with young children as their is not much in the way of discos or late night entertainment for the younger visitors however it is ideal for young couples wanting a romantic holiday and anyone that needs more nightlife can take a taxi to Sidari. Give it a try you'll love it. We did and after 28 years of touring Greece there are only one or two places we would go back to the next year. Roll on June I can't wait!!!
