Kefalonia is a beautiful quiet relaxing place to be. Sami is my ideal, it has beautiful views, interesting history/archiology nice people and lovely fresh food. Access to other Islands and the mainland is easy from Sami, this added lots more interesting opportunities for us

Restaurants in Sami are very variable, with some trying too hard to cater for what they think all the English will want. No we do not want chips with everything. Yes we do want vegatables. Yes we do want quality and service not just the cheapest price.
The bakery on the way out of Sami back to the hotel on the left, was absolutely first class with the most friendly, helpful, pleasant staff, and the food was excellent. Needless to say they got our lunchtime business rather than the hotel pool bar. We also regularly stopped by in the evening, walking back after dinner, for home made ice creams, a fantastic selection of cakes and of course the amazing range of baklava - a must try!

Sami is in my opinion wonderful, beautiful views, small but very nice beach, the sea is spectacular, plenty of really good places to eat and good bars. Anti Samos is the next nearest beach approx two miles away, and has spectacular views, good food at the cafe bar and water sports.

One thing you should definately do while you are there is take a trip on the Sami Star to Ithaka, this boat is moored near the Riviera Restaurant you cant miss it, it is the pretty wooden boat that is lit up at night.

There was live music in the square some nights, no trouble and very safe. It can get busy when the ferries come in but it i think it adds to the feel of the resort. If my family was still young i would take them to Sami. Do not walk to Anti- Samos beach its miles away hire a car or a scooter but put your lid on and make sure your holiday insurance covers you for any accident you might have. Happy holidays...

Sami is lovely. People struggle to find the beach and head to Antisamos, but if you walk along the harbour in Sami towards Karivomilos, there is a much better beach (in my opinion) very quiet, sandy and very long stretch. Great pool and beach bar/restaraunt there called Mellisani. This is also where you will find the fabulous Karivomilos camp site.

Lots of tavernas in Sami to choose from but quality of food in most we tried is not as good as elsewhere on Kefalonia that we have tried. Good value in the main though.

Be sure to visit Sami Acropolis - lovely views.

Sami was very clean the footpaths in the town have improved a great deal over the last 5 years. There was no entertainment in the resort. The beaches were very clean when compared to England.

We will visit the resort again but sadly will not stay in the town.

Sami is a port, and once the capital of kefalonia. the people of sami are very friendly, many become your friends.

Theres ample of taverna's, where on certain nights greek music is played...theres a small amount of shops.

The views of sami are amazing.

Also visit the nearish anti samos beach and the ancient sami runes.

On arriving in Sami, Kefalonia 1st impressions were ok.

We unpacked and I set off to super market for some water down a main road. It took about 20 minutes one way, also if on road at night need a torch. There is another way to harbour ask rep for details.

The only problem with this hotel was no fridges in rooms, so couldn't keep water cold in room. The only way to have cold water was to buy it from bar at 2 Euros not bad for 2 litres, or is it supermarket sells it for 2.60 euros for 6 bottles of 2 litres.

Hotel very nice marble floors, lounge area, and karaoke night not to missed. The pools were clean and cool. Bar snacks by pool ok, apart from tomato sauce jars chained to pole. An odd smile wouldn’t go a miss from time to time. Breakfast and evening meals brilliant. If you don't like white wine make sure you ask about type of wine at the wine festival as there was only one type that was white. this excursion is very very expensive (you could have at least 3 good meals at harbour with wine for the same price.

The hotel was nice, food great, enjoyed hotel a lot. Wouldn’t' come back to hotel because we try somewhere different each year. Staff very polite and well mannered. Sami harbour didn't feel the people were that friendly until you came to pay.

Sad that people can't be nicer without a hidden agenda.
