The resort itself leaves a lot to be desired. But really you do not need to go outside, and if you so wish ther are trips available, or car hire to go further afield. Will say, outside prices have not been hiked up for tourism YET!

As it was nearly the end of the season a lot of hotels bars and restaurants were closed so we couldn't get a real picture of the atmosphere in the resort. The beach attached to the hotel was sand/shingle so sandals were required to get into the sea but there were other smaller beaches nearby which were just sand. Beaches were all kept clean and there were plenty of water sports availble.

The resort of Kolymbia itself seemed ok, just a few gift shops, bars etc, but we stayed in the hotel mostly, so cant really comment on the entertainment.
the beach was man made so no sand, just the shingly pebbles, there was paragliding, bananna dingys etc, the beds on the beach were 3 euros for the day, we stopped round the pool, only venturing to the beach once, there was a beach bar further up, not connected to the hotel.

The resort is small and run down. The Taverna's empty may be because most hotels are all inclusive.
A plus point is that the stroll from the hotel is only 20 mins and a pleasant and safe walk

Sadly the resort is run down due to restaurants and bars closing partly because of recession and partly because of all-inclusives. There were a few places to go within walking distance of the hotel but the road was a bit dangerous and lots of litter around. Nearly had a heart attack when a rat crossed my path!
We had 2 excursions which I would recommend, the water park was great for teenagers and we also went on a boat trip to Symi, a bit expensive as we booked through the rep but you can probably bok directly from Rhodes town. Talking to people who hired cars there were lots of other places worth visiting, can't comment on the beach as we didn't go as it was a bus ride from the hotel and we didn't have time.

We ended up going in to the town, it was a trek however it was worth it as the people in the town were friendly.
I have rated the beach as 3 not for the beach in Kolymbia but for the beach in Tsambika, this is just 4.5 km away but as it is not a resort it is not listed, this is the beach for all beach lovers who go to Kolymbia as it is real sand and not shingle.

The resort was found to be very clean and tidy but very pebbly, and the sea is fantastic if you prefer a sunbed on the beach the price is 3 euro's.
A great selection of water storts we tried the Parsending and had great fun on the crazy sofa, a safe place to do a bit of snorkling as it has easy access from the hotel.
We eaven a time to have a walk to the little harbour which we found to be pleasant.
I would be very pleased to book into the hotel again as long as there is good entertainment. So give it a go

the area round the hotel is great but the shopping and bars areas are a little run down with a few deserted building and paths scruffy but ok for a wander
