Ideally located for beach, which is outstanding.We even saw dolphins in the sea! Room was clean and fresh towels and maid service everyday. We went on cheap last minute package and got our moneys worth i think. Food at hotel was only fault so did end up eating out a few times.Didnt really take much notice of hotel entertainment as we like to get out and about trying local bars. All in all a good value holiday to unwind.

Similar to previous reports on this hotel staff were friendly enough but not enough of them to cater at meal times.
Food cold and plain - no variety.
No entertainment staff, not even enough to do in the resort itself. Had to go out of the resort for entertainment and ate out even though we were half board so spent money we should not have had to to prevent food poisoning as there were no lids on food containers on occasions whic left it open to flies and germs.
We had looked forward to coming as it was our first visit to Portugal and at that time of year, we enjoyed the lovely weather but would not go back to this hotel or this resort. Too quiet bordering on boring.

The Hotel is well furnished and kept really clean, The breakfast was the best meal of the day and the rolls were lovley and fresh. The evening meal howvere left a lot to be desired. The food was allowed to go cold and the kitchen staff were really slow to replenish. The waiting staff were too few in number and were run off their feet as a consquence, which was a real shame as they were very nice.
The night porter was extremely unhelpful and refused to do anything about the excessive noise coming from a bar 20 metres down the street. When I complained to the management he defended their staff and more or less dismissed my complaint, The entertainment was either a kareoke or a magic show. Not for me.
On the whole to staff,apart from the night porter, were helpful, courteous and friendly. However I would not stay at this Hotel again.

We only chose this hotel because we could not get a flight for a cruise holiday. We wished we had stayed at home. The food was like eating from a school canteen, but tasted worse, it is the only holiday we have lost weight.
When we arrived the reception area was a cloud of smoke, we were given a key and had to find our own way to the room, carrying two large cases.
We never seen a rep all week, a package was left on the reception desk for us, it gave directions for a nightclub when we checked it out it was padlocked.
It also advised a good restaraunt, it too was closed. we also looked out onto a building site from our balcony. The bar was only open from 8pm till 11pm.
The entertainment was a portugese singer and a magician. We tried to get a flight home during the week but could not.
We met some lovely people from the northeast had it not been for them we would have gone insane.
We had rain and thunder and lightning all week.
We would never visit this hotel or resort again.....

We visited the Algarve on a fly drive holiday. We had stayed in 2 excellent hotels before arriving at Monte Gordo. Considering it was a fly drive holiday, there was no parking at the hotel. We had to find a space on the street outside.
We only stayed for 2 nights, which was 2 nights too many! Breakfast was served in a dingy canteen style room and the tables were not cleaned between sittings.
The room was basic with a view over a building site opposite.
There was a pool on the roof of the hotel, but this was tiny and over crowded.
We couldn't get away quick enough and would not visit this hotel again.
