The resort was very expensive. 6 euros for a small orange juuice and 2 coffees. No entertainmnet at the resort, menorca has no culture unless your interested in lots of roman catholic churches. The shops in the towns are very expensive. Absolutely nothing to do in the resort apart from sun bathing. We paid a lot of money for 1 week's holiday and ended up spending a lot of money travelling to other resorts for sight seeing etc, even though they were also boring.

We have been to Cala Galdana three times over the years, this being the first time since 2001. In that time they have built a new bridge over the river into the resort. They have also built a board-walk along the side of the river which gives a safer route crossing the river.
All the same shops and restaurants are within the commercial center,Supamarket, newsagent, cloths and shoe shops and pubs (can recommend the "Black & White" pub).
All staff are freindly and are great with children, even if the children deserve a clip round the ear. A restaurant worth a look at lunch time is the Ca'n Bini opposite the harbour run by Philip.
We were at the resort in October which is the end of the holiday season for the locals and this reflected in the resort entertaiment. Normally there is a children's mini-disco organised by the hotels, this was not on whilst we were there this time.
All the pubs and hotels have bars and most show sport of some description. There is a mini-golf course and a small water slide pool, there is also a road train which takes you on a tour of the resort taking around half an hour for 6 Euros per person.
The beach has beautiful golden sand which gently shelves into the crystal clear blue water. Being in the Med this seldom has large waves crashing onto the beach making it safe for toddlers. It is possible to hire pedalo's and slides, kyaks and motor boats from various vendors, it also pays to look around when buying inflatables.
The one thing that lets the beach down is that it isn't raked over to remove cigarette buts and other rubbish which is selfishly left behind by all nationalities
on the beach.
This said, we would return tomorrow if we could afford it.

Cala Galdana is a small resort town located against a great beach. There are a few shops and resturants in town plus a few just off the main road. The shops were pretty standard, the shop selling tourist souveniers, air beds etc. The shop selling a few cloths, a couple of smallish supermarkets. The resturants alongside the main road - which was a very quiet road - and those on the beach catered for a varied palate. Pizzas, burgers as well as Menorcan food. In town there is also a doctors and pharmacy. Bit of crazy golf, a few goes at a water slide or a play area at the tobogan resturant on the front kept the little ones busy as you eat.

A public bus visits Cala Galdana every hour from early until around 10 at night taking you the 10 mins to Ferreries (for 1.10 Euros each way) or once per day at 10am to Cuitadella (for 2 euros) or Mahon at 10.20 (VERY busy bus) for 3.75 Euros.

We visited Cala Galdana during the first week of the UK summer school holidays but the resort wasn't crowded, although busy and from the sounds of the people a good mix of European families from elsewhere gave it a nice safe feel.

I would visit this resort again in a flash, I've been to Menorca twice and travelled most of the way around the island, and I feel that this is the crown jewel of Menorca. The crystal clear waters, golden sands, beautiful wildlife and countryside and amazing views, Cala Galdana has it all apart from nightclubs, if you're looking for a relaxing holiday, great come here, if you're not - and you're looking for 24/7 partying, don't come near Menorca at all, try one of the other Balaeric Islands. Cala Galdana in 2005 was my no.1 favourite holiday EVER. There's even lots of walks you can take which can take you on a fantastic Balearic adventure. I would not hesitate to come back here.

Very picturesque bay and very laid back and relaxing with a handful of bars and restaurants not much else so if you don't like beach holidays then i would not recommend this resort , everything seemed to close down by about 10:30pm apart from the hotel .

The resort itself is very quiet and family orientated, a few nice bars and restaurants. Entertainment is on in the main square every night, mostly (pretty good) tribute bands. Also the main hotels have entertainment anyone can go and watch, although we found the drinks prices to be expensive.

The beach is lovely, nicest I have seen, very clean and not too busy. Only bad thing is it cost 22 € for 2 sun loungers and an umbrella which we thought was extortionate so we bought lilos and lay on them - also good cos you can move in the tree-shaded area if the heat gets too much.
There is a nice restuarant in the centre of the resort with a pool outside, a few slides and crazy golf for kids.

All in all would definitely go back!

Cala galadana is pretty to say the least it has a fantastic beach with pedalos and kayaks to hire at reasonable prices. The resort is very clean no rubbish lying around. We went to the entertainment in the square most evenings where the waiters served you with a smile. A few shops with souveniers, but for more choice a trip to cuitedella is amust. We enjoyed most of the restaurants especially the la suna highly reccommend this one...fantastic and yes we will be back
