This is the 6th!! Yes 6th time in ten years we have been to the Sur Menorca. Our two boys were 4 and 8 (now 14-18)when we first went there and we also take my father in law, who is now 84 (he can't get enough of the place) Decided to try a couple of other places in between (Greece-Malta) BIG mistake. Having said that, you learn from your mistakes.

The reasons are obvious by my scoring.
The maids were in every day and there were plenty of early morning maintenance staff cleaning all areas of the hotel.

The food was as usual excellent, catering for all people. The restaurant manager makes sure that there are no food queue's and takes pride in running it with military precision, without the shouting, nice one Jose-Luis.(A Des o'Connor look-a-like, but we don't hold that against him)

Some people may not agree with us that the location is actually very good, being away from the main resort of Punta Prima, but there is a courtesy 16 seat minibus that goes to and fro from the hotel into Punta Prima virtually all day. Having said that, there are excellent pathways for people to have enjoying walks around the area.

Staff really do make a huge effort to please and speak quite good English. Most do have a natural pleasant attitude but one or two need to liven up a bit.(do all the staff working in Blackpool, Bognor etc smile ALL of the time)

There are three entertainers at the hotel and they work tirelessly to entertain all age groups. They put on lots of their own shows which involves a huge amount of improvisation and in most cases really pays off. Also professional groups etc 2-3 times per week. Plenty of activities during the day, rifle & pistol shooting, vollyball, football tennis, archery plus many many more. Youngsters have their own kid's club with face painting and pirate adventures in a special area just for them for 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. (Nice little break for mums and dads)

The hotel has had a vast makeover since we were last here, all for the better.

Well done to all for making our stay very very enjoyable and relaxing. See you next year!!!!

Just come back from 4 days at Sur Menorca.

Hotel clean, staff not that friendly.

It was the worst all inclusive that I have stayed in. Food was horrible and their idea of snacks was toasted sandwiches. Restaurant wasn't open all day like other hotels I have stayed in.

Apart from the food the hotel is lovely I would recommend self-catering. Bus outside hotel to beach very handy, as hotel in the middle of no-where. Menorca is a lovely island, for a relaxing holiday.

Booked with a company called Fleetway Travel who were excellent, would recommend booking with them.

It's a shame there isn't a category for safety. If there was I'd give this hotel a one. This is a dangerous hotel for small children.

Whilst on holiday at Hotel Sur Menorca in July I felt compelled to formally lodge my concerns about a gap in the perimeter wall of the hotel leading straight onto a main road running alongside. This gap in the wall serves no useful purpose to the hotel seeming to be left over after the recent renovations. There are no barriers, hazard warnings on the road or hotel about this. There isn't even a pavement on the road side of the wall.

I'm concerned that a child who wanders out of it's parent's sight may run across the short grass verge, through the gap, into the road and be killed by an oncoming car whose driver will have no chance of stopping in time.

My concerns were passed on to the manager who dismissed them saying it was down to parental control to prevent accidents. This just isn't good enough and won't wash with the authorities is there's a fatality. It's up to the Hotel and Thomsons to provide a safe environment for their guests. To anybody who goes I urge you to check out this hazard and approach your rep if you're concerned. It's clearly visible from the road end of the pool area.

I'm also concerned about a wall near the stage. On the pool side of the wall it's two feet high, on the other side leading to the tennis courts it's a five feet drop onto solid concrete.

A gate has also been removed from a side entrance which could allow children to wander away into potential danger.

Whilst there I pointed out the gap in the wall to several guests and they too were appalled by it and rather bemused that they hadn't spotted it themselves. Parents were also removing their children from the wall as they realised the danger. My point being that the danger shouldn't be there in the first place.

This was our first time in Menorca. Hotel was a good base to explore the island. The Hotel is located on the front with sea views - although there is no sand. Hotel is average - quite modern from the inside, but looks dated from the outside. The rooms were clean, bathroom very small!

The restaurant is very geared towards the British and there are lots of British holiday makers. We were a bit disappointed that there was not much choice of Spanish food. But overall, food was OK. There is a bar area outside and a lounge area inside the hotel. The snacks are not served all day and there are limited choices. The entertainment was centred around families.

We used the hotel as a comfortable base to explore Menorca and we did tend to eat out quite a bit. We enjoyed the holiday, as we rented a car and saw lots of the island. The Hotel also has a bus stop - which helps you get out and about. As there is not much to do around the hotel area.

We visited the Sur Menorca hotel in October 2005. We were all inclusive which we found ok apart from the bar closing between 5pm and 6pm when only tea or coffee were available(not even soft drinks were available).

The food we found good but with a limited choice. The rooms were cleaned daily with clean towels every day. The only downside of this holiday was the hotel location.

There was nothing at all to do outside. One pub up the hill.O.K.if you want a quiet holiday but this was too quiet for us.

We would not recommend this holiday unless you want to get away from it all.

We have just returned from a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday. We were all inclusive. And had no need to venture far from the hotel.

The staffs are very sociable and friendly. Very approachable.

The Hotel is very clean and the rooms are spotless. They were cleaned every day. Towels were changed every day even though we were happy to keep them.

Food was good and plentiful. There was always a choice so nobody starved. There was a variety of meat. If you didn't want hot there was salads and cold meat. They catered well for the brits that don't like to break from their normal eating habits (chips etc) to something a little different.

Snacks in between the meal times were very good although we didn't really need them. Hamburgers were excellent.

Plenty of drink. No problem that drinks finished at 23:00

We had excellent weather so we could swim in the pool and in the sea.

Excellent flights with no delays at either end.

I am quite a fussy person and I do read the reviews on holidays. I feel there are a lot of people who will always find something to moan about. I think you just have to read the reviews but read between the lines.

I thought the poor reviews were unjustified. I would recommend the Sur Menorca to anybody. It is good for families and even though we went as a couple this was not a problem. Maybe during the summer season it would be different. There was a mixed age group from families, youngish couples and oldish couples.

I would definitely go again. Menorca is a lovely island.

The rooms were cleaned everyday, and were a good size. Food was excellent with a good choice, and there was plenty available.

As well as having dessert available, they always had a selection of fruit as well.

The nice touch in the restaurant was that if you went as couple, they had a part of the restaurant sectioned off just for couples. We were shown to our table, and the chairs pulled out. Empty plates didn't remain long, and were whisked away without fuss. The waiting staff were pleasant, and provided excellent service.

Entertainment was good, although downside was, if you had a pool facing room, there was no escape from the noise of the entertainment if you just wanted a quiet night, even with the patio doors closed, as the entertainment is held outside. The good side was that they stopped at 11.30!

We enjoyed our holiday clean and friendly.

Location not very good, you do need a car to get out and about lovely place at Punta Prima but again not much there a couple of supermarkets, chemist and a few restaurants.

Nice beach you have to pay for loungers and parasols.

Entertainment is mostly done by hotel staff they do kids club. Theres games for adults, rifle shooting, football, water polo etc.

Food was great and plenty of drink we had much the same food the second week as the first but we didnt mind that would definitly go back again.

The hotel was fantastic, I stayed there with my wife and 2 sons 1 aged 2 and aged 1, there is a hidden part to the hotel grounds for familys with small children such as mine, with a knee length deep pool which was ideal for the kids, there was also a pool bar, but this closed on the 3rd day of our stay, our room was ideal, you need to ask for a "junior room"

If you have small children, otherwise you will be bathing your kids in the shower tray, we had a bath, shower, double sink, and built in hairdryer, even a fridge, Ideal!. The staff were very friendly to all, great kids entertainment, even they played bingo although this was in 3 different languages.. Ive already booked for La Panida Costa Dorado for May before staying here, otherwise would definately book this one again, the choice of food was amazing for vegetarians too, breakfast buffett between 8 and 10, lunch 1 and 3 and evening meal 7 til 9.30, and as much alcohol as you want between 10.30am and 11pm, although they do close the bar between 5 and 6 to serve afternoon tea/coffee and buscuits.. Its an ideal hotel to stay for all young and old...

I would definitely recommend this to all! about 20 min walk to Punta Prima beach although there is a free courtesy bus from the hotel every 20 mins or so, and 30 min walk to Binnebecar amazing beach, we walked down there and caught the express train back 4 euros each.. perfect!

The hotel, accomodation and food was really good.

There is a daily maid service, the staff were friendly and excellent with children.

The beach is clean and suitable for all ages.

The main pool is busy and the towels are on the beds very early by the usual candidates so I would advise to get there early or go to the beach in the morning and come back for lunch when it quietens down.

Nothing further to report other than an ideal holiday for a young family-early teenagers.
