We stayed at these apartments for two weeks and had a fab holiday. We went out every evening so not sure about the entertainment. The rooms were large but very dirty. When we arrived we brought some cleaning products straight away as we had read reviews on this site regarding cleaning. Towels changed every 3 days, sheets changed once only because I complained for 3 days. Our friends sheets were never changed. Floor swept once never mopped. Opened cupboard to get a glass and it stunk of dirty fags so bleached cupboard and contents.

Pools great and very clean the same for the grounds. Kids hated salt pools so we always set up camp at the fresh water pools.

We went at the end of july and never had a problem getting a sunbed. bBware, the floor aroud the fresh pool is very slippery, I fell over my husband did and my son, oh and just about everyone else so get some crocs. Temp was very hot every day, we brought our own fan from town and took it home with us, this was cheaper than hiring one.

Hyperdino is the cheapest supermarket just ask any taxi driver, not walking distance.

Water park is a rip off. Any child under 1.3m has to wear armbands even if they can swim!! Had a very good argument with lifeguard about this very rude man.

Would go back if cleaning improved.
Did have a great time though.

Me and my boyfriend visited this hotel at the beginning of January, we had been here about a year ago previously and had really enjoyed our stay and can definately say the same again.

The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are lovely bright and airy and clean. The pools although cold were clean but i do feel that there should be one heated pool.

We didnt actually eat on the complex so cant comment on the food onsite but the restaurants in town were lovely and there were many places to choose from, although it was about a 15 min walk into town, on the warm evenings it was an enjoyable walk but after a few drinks and if you like your high heels like me i recommend a cab back which is only 3 euros.

The entertainment on the complex was'nt fantastic for adults it was aimed more for children and after 9pm the entertainment was non existent but i think this had a lot to do with the time of year we went, it was out of season. So we tended to go into town and find a bar, waiki right on the beach we would definately recommend it is open until 5am they play wicked music and are very reasonable on drink prices, they also have pool/snooker tables.

We would definately come back to this hotel again and hopefully will be booking again soon to make it our 3rd time back!

We stayed at this complex on our first visit to Fuerteventura. The complex on a whole was fine.

The reception staff and the bar staff were great and contrary to what as been said on earlier reports about the language barrier we found that if you engaged in a conversation with a little Spanish you tended to find that their English was very good indeed.

The English pub on site offered a great choice of sports to watch with reasonably priced drinks around 3 euros a pint, with a great bowling alley to keep the kids amused.

The food on site left a lot to be desired but with such a great choice on offer in the town you should venture out, however if you prefer English food turn right outside the reception and about a three minutes walk will fetch you to the cafe Correlejo. Good food great staff and very cheap about 60 euros for 4 adults 2 kids and that included a bottle of wine and assorted drinks.

The ground are kept very tidy and the kids just loved the choice of pools to go in plus the hot-spa.

The entertainment however for this time of year was very poor to non existent and most of the parks outside the complex had shut down for repairs.

Our family has just spent a week at the Oasis Papagayo. We have been self catering in the Canaries many times and this is our fourth trip to Corralejo so we know roughly what to expect from self catering apartments.

We had a two bedroomed apartment which unfortunately seemed to have ants everywhere you looked in the kitchen and bathroom and we were very pleased we had packed a couple of tupperware boxes to protect our food!

We were quite disappointed with the level of maid service, our bin was overlooked one day, the ants were not dealt with and floors not regularly cleaned. As with most self catering apartments the walls were very thin and we were unfortunate to have very noisy neighbours!!

Facilities on the whole were good but beware the jacuzzi opening signs can be misleading and we found that it was quite often on in the day and turned off just when the sign said it was due to open! Also just because the jacuzzi is bubbling away doesn't necessarily mean the water will be hot!!

There is a 10 pin bowling complex on site. It costs 5 euros per person per game including shoe hire and is an enjoyable way to spend some time.

We didn't eat in the on site restaurant as the reviews we had read on this website before we went away were not favourable! Also, the "entertainment" was pretty poor and we had seen much better entertainment at other complexes we had stayed in.

Finally, it took us about 15-20 mins to stroll into town which we didn't mind at all as we weren't in a hurry but this probably wouldn't suit some people.

Personally I wouldn't go back to the Oasis Papagayo as I have stayed in much cleaner accommodation before.

We were half board but had to eat out as the hotel food was cold. It was hard to get a drink with the evening meal as there were not enough staff in restaurant.

We also ate at the on site restaurant would not recomend it. We did not get what we ordered it was cold and again poor staff service.

Entertainment very poor we were there for new years eve there was no atmosphere.

We had a lovely holiday but the hotel did not make our holiday.

The hotel is about 10 minutes walk downhill to the start of shops, a further 10 minutes to the centre of town, and a further 10 minutes to Music Square and the harbour area, so about 30 minutes all the way. It really doesn't seem that far once you hit the shops and have something to look at rather than building works and roads. Taxis are no more than 3 euros each way, cheaper during the day and Mercedes taxis cheaper than others. Don't bother booking a taxi at reception, just stand outside and put your hand out when one passes, it will either come for you or radio another to do so. Same applies when you are walking up or down the hill, they will stop on request.

The hotel is set on in large grounds and gardens which staff do their best to keep clean, but the rubbish accumulates during the day - placed there by guests, that's you, me and others, so it can get a bit messy at times, but when you wake up in the morning, the complex is miraculously clean and tidy again. We had a couple of windy days/nights, and it got quite bad then not only with rubbish blowing around but also pool inflatables. Pool bar staff didn't check for empty cups/cartons before closing so if you hadn't returned them or put rubbish in bins it was left under sunbeds.

The staff start in the breakfast room, then onto poolside bars then into disco bar so they have a long day. On the plus side, you get to recognise them and they know what you want. They don't speak much English but will have a good go understanding you, even if it did end up like charades a couple of times trying to request sandwiches not toasted, no tomato or onion etc!

Reception staff were very helpful and always polite. They speak very good English. We requested clean towels after a heavy downpour during the night which came in under the patio door as we used the bath towels to mop it up with, and they were there within an hour or so. Also requested extra pillows when we arrived, and again they were with us almost immediately. This may just be lucky.

We seemed to get the bin emptied and clean towels regularly but not bedding. We got clean bedding for 2 beds not the third one day, just placed on bed and then the day before we were due to go home all 3 beds were changed and made for us. Never noticed if the floor had been swept, sorry.

We did bed & breakfast which after 2 weeks we were totally fed up with and having toast & cereal, which to be honest we could have had in our room. My 6 year old daughter lived on pancakes with chocolate sauce, cooked fresh for you so they were hot, or fried egg on toast - again cooked fresh to they weren't rubbery. In busy times, they were not cooked fresh, so if we went to breakfast after 8.45am it wasn't as nice. There is also only one toast machine, and when busy you could wait ages to use it.

We had an evening meal once, and were really disappointed and didn't feel there was choice or value for money. There are so many places to eat in town you are spoilt for choice. The pizza bar on site is excellent. The bar was closed so can't comment on that - apart from they probably lost a lot of business because we and others went back to apartment if didn't want to watch entertainment or go to town, if the bar had been opened we would have sat and had a drink.

Entertainment was pretty dire - some of the acts were so awful they were funny. The rep shows were pretty good and they all tried very hard. We felt no pressure to join in the activities, although we did do a few day time ones if we were around the pool at the time. There is a play area at the kids club, and this is in totally the wrong place. If it was outside the Club Bar it would have got used plenty, the kids just ran round outside the Club Bar and climbed on the walls.

Yes, we would probably visit this hotel again.

For the first time ever we returned to the same complex. This year one or two things were not quite as they had been but all in all the Oasis Papagayo represents excellent value for money. Yes one or two things could have been slightly better, for example the maid service which was just about OK with dozens of fresh towels changed almost daily but little or no change of linen.

The whole complex was absolutely spotless. I must say I didn't really notice any litter at all. All the guests (a pleasant mix of Brits, Dutch, Germans and Italians) seemed to put all their rubbish in the numerous bins.

The pool areas are vast and even though one of our weeks was half term the place did not seem to be too busy at all. There were always plenty of sun loungers available throughout the day and apart from a few Brits making fools of themselves nobody at all was out early "booking" sunbeds.

The hotel supermarket is very expensive but OK for bread rolls etc. For everything else then it's either a "netto" run (approx 1 KM down the hill) or get a load of stuff from Hyperdino in town and get a cheap taxi back!

Rooms do get very hot as there is no air conditioning. You can hire a fan for 24 euros (2 weeks) from reception but our friends actually bought a brand new one for 20 euros. (again netto I think) TV is expensive and not worth it.
Reps seemed OK if thats what you want and kids club certainly was well run and equipped.

If you want a cheap and cheerful meal for example as soon as you have arrived and don't fancy the walk down to town then pop downstairs to the burger bar. It's not like the British version with chips and rubbish everywhere. Instead it's absolutely spotless. Excellent portions. Half chicken and chips for example is 4 and half euros.

Although the complex is spacious, exceptionally clean and well kept I would avoid half board at all costs. We were given a day of half board free by the hotel when the water packed up for a day(something which the hotel sorted out and which Thomsons did absolutely nothing to assist)and we were thankful we had booked self catering. It wasn't really the hotels fault and I suppose there is a limit to how cosy and intimate a restaurant for hundreds of people can be but the choice did seem rather restricted and the slop bins were a bit of a put off.

The apartments themselves are very modern, clean and well equipped.

Yes the hotel is set away from the main town but the walk wasn't too bad and it is clear that in the years to come there is going to be a lot more nearer the hotel. (for example a strange precinct made up of an American diner, a haunted house, acrobats, tourist shop and games complex opened up opposite the hotel whilst we were there- albeit it was absolutely deserted whenever we ventured inside.)

The water park is also very cose by. (by the way don't be fooled by the price of 18 euros to enter this as you have to pay extra for the sunbeds and the rings which you need for just about most rides- a bit of a rip off)

Altogether an excellent holiday in an excellent complex. Yes one or two moans and groans but nothing to really get upset about.(albeit no doubt some people would)

Would thoroughly reccommend complex.

I have been coming to Corralejo for 9 years and seen many changes.

The complex is a pleasant 10 min walk to the town or 2 min in a taxi 2 euro. We found the complex fantastic we always eat out down in the town you will be spoilt for choice.

If you need a cheap supermarket on arrival book a taxi at reception and ask the driver for Rita 2 or the new spar on the harbour road you will save money as the on site shop is very expensive.

There are 2 near by cafes just right out of reception and a English bar the wining post cannot understand some of the petty complaints some people have with this complex.

p.s. full size ten pin bowling ally in complex back in April and July, Aug next year.

Bearing in mind we did some homework (like reading other reviews on this website and looking at town location maps, etc), and having been to Correlejo before, we thought this hotel was excellent.

It is a large complex so you would be well advised to pay attention to the directions you are given for your room but the room numbers are sigposted and you do get a good map.

The complex is a short distance from town but it is not an unpleasant walk and times mentioned in other reviews are accurate. Our two boys (3 and 6 years) enjoyed looking at the Waterpark and what looks like a "Seaworld" type attraction being built. This is on the way to town.

We had a room close to the smaller pools (which were fresh water) which was quiet and very pleasant. The grounds were clean and well maintained and there were plenty of sunbeds and shades.

Our boys really enjoyed the children's entertainment. It was mainly simple "follow-the-leader" songs and simple games but in my opinion it was just right after a long day on the beach. The later entertainment was again just harmless fun and you could wander in or out at your leisure. We went some days and not others as it suited.

We ate in the buffet just once. The food was OK but the selection on that day was not huge.

There is a new complex on the other side of the road to the hotel that includes a American style Diner, a shop and a Haunted House attraction - although this was very quiet as it had opened for the first time whilst we were there, I am sure it will draw some interest. Go to the Haunted House - I took my 6 year old in (they kindly organised a watered down version for him) and it was great though not for the faint hearted !

The town of Correlejo is just right with a good mix of tourist shops and restaurants and it is not too big. The town beach is perfect for children and we let ours play there in the evening very happily whilst we ate in one of the numerous and very good restaurants surrounding the beach.

Fair gripes - beds hard, sheets should be changed more regularly, floors should be swept or broom available in room so you can do it yourself - thats all we could mention - I would be happy to recommend this hotel to anyone especially if they have young children.

We arrived at the Oasis Papagayo at around 11pm due to delays at the airport. We was given a map of the hotel layout and found it quite confusing as for one it was pitch black and 2 the place is very big. We found our apartment after around 20 mins of looking.

When we got into the apartment the rooms where very clean and spacious. We had our towels changed nearly every day and our beds changed every 2 days or so. The town is about 15 minutes walk away from the hotel but a taxi only costs 2.50 euros.

The staff were ok didn't have any problems with them throughout our stay.

The entertainment in the hotel was very good for familys with young children. The reps entertained the kids and their parents all through the day and again at night. At around 10pm there was a show or some kind of entertainment for adults and kids.

Before we went on holiday I read a few reviews on this hotel and was quite worried but now im just wondering if these people that have had a bad experience were actually staying at the Oasis Papagayo because we didnt experience any of the problems they had.

We would definitely recommend it to couples and Familys.
