We have just returned this weekend from the Costa Volcan apartments in Puerto Del Carmen and while the apartments are basic but very clean, the pool area is not.
We did get new towels at least 4 times in the week and new sheets once. We had a poolside apartment and in the entire week I did not once see anyone clean the area surrounding the pool, it was filthy.
The bar closed at 6pm each evening which I found unusual for holiday apartments. However it was in a very good central location to the old and new towns.
We had a great holiday but the Costa Volcan staff need to clean up the pool area as it is a disgrace.

We arrived at the hotel about 9.00 p.m. and the staff behind the bar made us feel extremely welcome by introducing themselves. If we were unsure of where to go for meals at night Linda, Janette & Phil were always coming up with places to go that they themselves had been, and of course places to avoid. They had only been running the bar a couple of months when we arrived but they will make a success of it as you enjoy it more when you have got friendly faces serving you food & drink.
We used to have breakfast & dinner at the hotel, the food was excellent - well recommended. The bar would stay open as long as there were people there to serve.
The cleaners were very thorough and came at least 3 times a week, and the pool got cleaned every morning.

We stayed at the Costa Volcan apartments in Lanzarote in July 2005.
I have to say that the apartments were very clean and the rooms were very nice.
The staff at the hotel were very nice towards the guests staying there too. This was our second time staying in Lanzarote and the Costa Volcan apartments were much better then the apartments we stayed in the last time we visited Lanzarote.
They were within a 5 minute walk between the old and new towns.
We had a poolside apartment which is the best because if you are in an apartment on the road side it can be very noisy.
The pool area was very clean and tidy also. The staff there cleaned the pool and pool area each morning. The poolside bar was excellent, the people who ran it had only just taken over a few days before, Jeanette, Phil and Linda, very nice people and they make your feel very welcome. They make all sorts of food that we would like eating at home, plus the drinks at night went down a storm.
The poolside bar usually closed early but Jeanette and Phil will keep it open at the weekends as long as there is people there to drink, ha ha
I would highly recommend these apartments to anybody travelling to Lanzarote

Just back from the Costa Volcan apartments. Found them to be basic but clean, the sheets were changed twice during the week and the apartment cleaned 3 times.
The outside of our fridge was rusty but it was clean inside. We had a pool view thanks to comments here and there was never a problem with noise.
The pool area could probably have been cleaned a bit more but the pool itself was clean and really liked that there was no loud music blaring from the pool bar.
The staff helped with any issues we had, we never ate there or stayed around for the entertainment at night so can't comment on that.
The location was great and would recommend everyone to stay in the Old Town.

The location of this hotel is excellent for both the old town and the new town and is 5 mins walk from the excellent Biosphere shopping centre. Its also a 5 min walk from the nearest beach. The rooms were cleaned every second day with towels changed twice during the week. The snack bar in Costa Volcan is also very good value. Our room was spotless on arrival - their was a new fridge and toaster in the room. Pool view rooms are the best option in this hotel. The hotel itself is very quiet and relaxed. The only drawback with the Costa Volcan is the swimming pool - the water was cloudy when we arrived and seemed to get worse as the week went on.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday in Costa volcan Lanzarote. It was the worst accomadation we have ever stayed in . The water in the swimming pool was cloudy and the apartment needed a complete renovation. The fridge door was rusty and the electric sockets were loose. There were cracked tiles in the bedroom and the lighting was extremly dim. The beds were very uncomfortable with mattresses similiar to cots There was a broken radio built in to a bedside locker which kept omitting a noisr and an orange light as you tried to sleep. The only way to stop this was to switch off the electricity. If you closed the balcony door from the outside it locked therefore locking one out on the balcony. We thought the week would never be over.

I stayed in these apts for 1 week. I found them to be located in a very good, quiet, clean area. The beach is only moments away and the old town is only a few steps away. I found everything around the apts great. The reception staff were always friendly. And if you forgot anything eg: ironing board or radio (like I did) you can rent one for 10 euro for the week.The shops were brilliant and the Manta dive centre was a great experience. The pools were cleaned on a daily basis and we were lucky to get a pool view as our accomadation was upon arrival, I say we got the best of the bunch. There was no down fall to anything in the apartments. The atmosphere was calm and everyone around the pool made a great effort to make you feel welcome. Also there was no shortage of sun loungers around the pool. The pool food was cheap and great. The shopping centre in the old town in just two mins away from Costa Volcan and has a variety of shops including Zara. The restaurnats in the old town are a great spot to eat as it is cheap and delicious. I would recommend these apts. to anyone visting Lanzarote. Als make sure to visit Titty Trollops drag show in the Irish Music Centre. It is a great night out.
