its awful for people :( but it does appear very cynical that Aegean flights offered reductions this last week or so for flights for next year i believe, So the cynic in me reckons they knew a while ago and came up with this idea to get more cash flow. If PLC companies are striuggling they have to issue profit warnings or 6 monthly financial records, maybe travel companies should do the same.

I know how excited we get for hols, so cant imagine people who should have been flying tonight and cant - theres a swear word itching to come out but it wouldnt take much imagination as to what it was.

I hope people can rebook or get money back sooner rather than later.

Good luck

On the news a while ago there was a little boy of about 10 who was supposed to go to Turkey tonight. He was so upset................... Probably no chance of him having a holiday this year now.
What a shame!

Hi, This might help it is from Bristol airport site:
Holidays 4U has ceased trading with immediate effect. Any passengers abroad should continue with their holiday and arrive at the airport in time to check-in for their return flight home as normal. The CAA is helping to protect holidaymakers currently abroad and returning home.

must be the same for all airports

ive just rang atol and they have said they will have to return us and to check their website a few days before out return date, but im sure most people on my return flight wont even have got here yet as its over 3 wks away, so the plane will be very empty so im assuming they will put us on another flight , looks like a waiting game lol

found out our return flight today and im not a happy bunny, they have stuck us on a flight to stop at bodrum on route adding 2 hrs to our flight and goin to manchester instead of birmingham and middle of night flight, not much fun when your travelling alone with a child that gets travel sickness yikes and even more annoying i paid extra for decent flight times for this to happen lol, can only happen to me :duh

We flew home on monday elliemeg and were also diverted home from Dalaman via Bodrum, though fortunately for us the flight was going to Manc which was our return airport

Though we heard nothing directly to us while we were out there, I checked the CAA website daily and fortunately, some former Aegean staff who'd actually lost their jobs on 3 Aug had volunteered to stay on without pay to be there to make sure people got home OK. In particular, Kirsty in the Dalaman office and Frank at the airport, were both amazing and reassurred me when I rang and when we flew home. really hope they manage to get new jobs in the near future!

We were just sooo glad we flew on 1 Aug or we'd be looking at missing out on our three week holiday

Returned back from Icmeler a couple of day's ago, I too have had my refund via the CC. Oh well, back to the drawing board! :cheers

I am not put off DIY booking at all, as prices during the school hol's for the 2 of us are a total rip off.

Happy Hol's :cheers

We flew out to Turkey with OnurAir, booked through Aegean, in mid-July but thankfully we had booked to return home with Thomas Cook on 5/8 and were unaffected by Aegean's sad situation. I really feel for those who had their holidays disrupted or who were unable to even take their holiday.

At the beginning of August, there were many OnurAir flights coming out from the UK without passengers to take those affected back to the UK. I understand these were chartered flights but (getting to my point!) when we went back to Turkey at the end of August the OnurAir UK schedule seemed to be running normally with passengers flying out from the UK. My question is how can you book onto these flights as they don't come up on sites such as Skyscanner, Opodo etc. and OnurAir's site only offers scheduled services, not the UK charters.

Any information would be appreciated!
