The Pueblo is a good place to visit, very Spanish village feel and well worth the bus ride. Lots of nice bars and restaurants and a beautiful square where you can sit and watch the world go by.

The bus, 112 I think it is, comes through Benalmadena Costa and Arroyo. Benalmadena Pueblo is a lovely place to wander round. The castle is worth a visit but be aware af the opening times. The views from the Pueblo are fantastic. I'm sure I have some pics somewhere. I will have a look and post them if I find them.

Near to the Pueblo is the largest Buddhist Stupa in the Western world - if you have a look on andalucia web site - it is dot com there is the story about it. It is a large white building with a golden dome - you can see it from the coast when you look up into the hills behind Benalmadena.
When you look down from the Stupa it has to be one of the best views on the coast and worth the walk from the Pueblo to see it.
Not sure which way the bus goes, whether or not it goes past it as we always go by car but our guests are very impressed when we take them up there.

If you are a Coronation Street fan Alec and Bet got married in the church in the Pueblo!!

The castle mentioned is called Colomares Castle and is on the road upto the Pueblo from the coast although it is called a castle it looks like something out of a childrens fairy tale book. Not much more to look at other that what you can see from the gate. Don't know anyone who has actually paid to go in to see the back of it.

I'm sure the bus starts in Torremolinos and goes through to Mijas.

We were gonna book an apartment in the pueblo.last august on our way home to malaga airport, our coach took a detour through the pueblo as the malaga feria was causing major traffic, and I was so pleased he took this scenic route, the temple is beautiful ,and the views were outstanding, near to that was the cable car to take you up the moutains, we are out there in august, so will for sure visit...its beautiful...

Ive only ever driven through the pueblo but never stopped to look around, im going to the CDS again later on this year but am not hiring a car, how far is the pueblo from the centre of arroyo? Never thought to clock it.

its prob about a mile or so,not too far.

Cheers, probably enjoy a slow stroll up there then.

Depending where you are in Arroyo, lets say Railway Station the Pueblo is a lot further than a mile. First there is the walk upto Lidl roundabout I would guess that is about a mile. Then up the hill past the Bull Ring and on up to the Pueblo. I would say it is a good 2 miles.
Not quite a stroll and it is all up hill. :D

Im sure i can make it with a few watering stops :cheers

It is a nice walk up there when it is not too hot. Often used to do it on a Sunday and call and have lunch at one the many nice places in the Pueblo.
Reply
Im going to be there first week of october so not the height of summer, tend to go for the feria in fuengirola.
Reply
is the pueblo a long way from the windmill roundabout??
Reply
If you are walking then yes it is a long way and all uphill. From Windmill roundabout you have to go to the Railway Station then up past Tivoli World on up past "top" Lidl and up into the Pueblo. I did put it into AA website to try and find out the distance but it did not work.
If you are staying on the coast then you can get the bus up there (see bus numbers earlier in the topic).
