Hi Nic...

Will you be at the Oscar apart's Laganas.

If so there are several Tavernas / restaurants nearby worthy of a mention but, the Apolafsi just behind the Agrillia supermarket was the best experience we had in two weeks of great eating in Laganas. Lovely friendly local Greek taverna, great food and exceptional hospitallity.

There are a couple of other good Greek restaurants nearby one run by a Greek American familly and i'm sure you will get good veggie food there although we never got round to trying it many guests at our appartments reccomended it.

Further away in Laganas 'Yiannis' Greek Taverna near the centre of Laganas was just as good as the Apolafsi although slightly bigger and busier we enjoyed great food and a real nice friendly atmosphere all around the taverna with a great host in Yianni.

It's located behind the main street off the Kalamaki road (opposite fatso's) past the Alexander Hotel / tweeties restaurant further down where the road narrows and the neon lighting gives way to trees and hotel gardens.

If you walk to the beach (it's a walk from the Oscar) this is a great way to get to the beach turning left past tweeties and then right almost opposite the Canadian hotel.

Good map with some Hotels restaurants i've mentioned marked..

If you hire a car or manage to get on one of the excursions The Cross at Kampi is another fine place to eat with great scenery.

Hi Nic.. :wave

I stayed at the Tassia apartments slightly further up the road away from the town and it was a good 40 minute walk from there and €5 euros back in a Taxi

Hotel owners are normally pretty good with phoning for Taxi's if you need one to get into town and there is a bus stop nearby but, we walked it most of the time.

Just remebered the name of the Greek American taverna nearby it's Jimmy's and paradise was the other restaurant many reccomended. And i'm just searching for a website with helpful travel info for you. They had printable business cards and i remember seeing a "request for vegetarian food" in Greek as sometimes mistakes are made in translation. still you can always stick to cheese pies :love2 if i find the site i'll post the url..

bluurrggh you won't catch me eating cheese pies (cheese is my demon food!!!). i'm one of the meat eaters so i should be quite easy to please (unless it's like turkey where they seem to pit cheese into everything - even a plain innocent looking tomato soup!!) :x
paul you're a star, thanks for all that info. my friend carla is keen on the idea of the card that you mentioned as she says she has often been misunderstood and has ended up being served something she can't have.
