As you know I am the mod of the this forum. I also moderate 4 other forums on HT. I am married, no kids and I teach. I used to have hobbies before I started modding here( ) but now my main interest is travel and planning it! In the Far East I have been to Thailand, Penang, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bali. I also have had two great holidays in Rio. Been to Greece too many times to count, Turkey, Tunisia, Barbados and a variety of other short hauls. A particularly good holiday was to New Orleans and Memphis, in 2004. I absolutely loved the music scene there and would so much like the chance to go back some time. Hopefully New Orleans can rebuild- starting with the residential areas.
This year I am going to Hong Kong, Saigon and Bangkok and also to Antigua in the summer. We usually get away 3 times in a year but not this year  .
Hoping to go to Goa, Mumbai and Delhi next Easter and no idea beyond that!

Hi

My name is Helen and I'm married with 2 kids ( 11 & 14). I try to get away on family holidays twice a year but can only go at school holiday times. Hubbie and I then usualy get away for at least 1 long weekend and and one holiday without the kids.
Holidays with the kids :- Florida (x14), Cancun, Margarita, Dom Rep, St Lucia, Canaries, Mainland Spain, Majorca.
Without kids:- Florida, Malaysia, Singapore, Maldives, Corfu,Canaries, Boston, Prague, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Austria, France ( last 4 skiing),Amsterdam and we where in Kefalonia last week.
We are flying to Thialand at the end of June as a family staying in Bangkok and Hua HIn.
Next year we were thinking of Aruba for a family but I loved Kefalonia so we might go there. I'll be 40 next year so it looks like the kids may not get a second 2 week holiday as I would like to go to Las Vegas or South Africa and they will be at school. :)

Hello! :D My name is Stacey (as you can see) I am 22 and at uni studying hard (Yeah right!!) for a degree in marketing, I love holidays and anything to do with them I will even search for hols for other people because I find it all so excitin (sad I know!)
My list of places is not nearly as long as some but hopefully will be eventually. So far I have been to Majorca twice, Tunisia, Paris, Germany, Portugal, Spain(Torremolinos), New York and Canada (my favourite so far) Lanzarote and Turkey. I have to admit I had never considered Thailand as I thought I would have no chance of affording it but thanks to my boyfriend I am now looking forward to my first far east holiday, to Bangkok from June 7th-10th then on to Koh samui for 11 nights,.I havent been this excited :pele since New York and am driving everyone mad with my countdown! If anyone has any advise for me please let me know as I am a total Far east virgin and have no idea what to expect!! Cheers.

Somehow I missed this!
I'm Dawn and a Far East virgin. Hubby and I have always wanted to visit China & HK and have spent 3 years saving for our dream trip - which starts on the 9th of September :D

We usually do a city break and a 'main' holiday each year. We like more active type holidays rather than lying on a beach.
In the past we've been to Mexico, Margarita, Egypt, Tunisia, lots of Greek islands, San Francisco, Florida, Czech Rep, Spain, Malta, Portugal, Rome, Canada (hubby).
Other than our first trip to New York (for our 40ths) we've nothing planned for next year yet. I'm far to hyper at the moment to even think about it :)

Would love to go to Sri Lanka, Goa, Malaysia, Thailand, Cuba. I'm sure I'll be back for more advice as it's looking like our main hols next year will be in November so I'll be looking inspiration.

Hi,

My names Sam, and I've visiting as a 'guest' for a while and I thought I'd finally join to hopefully contribute something useful! I've lived and worked in and on South-East Asia since I was 11, and to keep me attached to the destination, I've even worked in travel focussing on SE Asia (I sign the contracts with the hotels for the UK Tour Operators that you book through!).

I got so fed up of poor companies, and a lack of specialism for what's a great destination, I decided to set up my own company. Which I am in the process of doing now! So, I've been paying particular attention to peoples complaints, and the failings of companies that make people unhappy, and how I can ensure the company is great from day 1 (which will be in January!). Hopefully I can contribute some help along the way!

To ensure that this is not seen as shameless self-promotion, I'm not going to reveal the company name, and will probably disappear into my work load when we start trading, but in the meantime, looking forward to your comments!

Thanks,

Sam

Hi,
I came across the Far East meet and greet, and thought what a good idea it is to introduce ourselves to one another, so here goes.
My name is Ian, and I'm a Police Officer in Motherwell, Scotland, hence Polisian!! although I'm not as grumpy as my avitar, Groundskeeper Willie. I've been married to Michelle for 22 years :love and we have two grown up sons, who are reluctant to leave the roost. We have enjoyed many trips away as a family, America, Canada, and all over Europe, although I have spent some time in less salubrious locations when I was in the Armed Forces :( I hit the big 50 next month, and really fancy somewhere different, although we won't get away until next September due to other commitments. I've looked at the different posts about Thailand and the Far East until my brain is about to burst :hmmm so, can you give me advice on where to go for first timers, and is September a good time to go. I look forward to some interesting replies :D
