So having investigated Zante and found that many places are now unavailable, I have turned my attention to Turkey. Slightly cheaper (I am hoping) but it doesn't appear that there are as many resorts with lovely sandy beaches. All suggestions are most welcome.
We're basically after a self-catering hotel / apartment and resort with a good pool, sandy beaches, some restaurants and bars for evening entertainment and the possibility of water sports (even if this means a long walk or bus ride into another resort). Definitely want somewhere nice and clean; I guess this goes without saying.
PLEASE: all suggestions and helpful hints are welcome as I don't think I can take much more internet searching and I want to go mid-August!

Beautiful beaches at Akyaka and Dalyan.
Have a look at Anatolian Sky's website. We stayed at the Yucelen in Akayaka a few years ago - nice hotel on the beach.
Can't remember whether there are watersports though.
If a good beach is your top priority either of these resorts would be a great choice.

jasmine beach apt right on the beach , watersports plenty of resturants shops all you need .oh. gumbet it's in work friend just back and he says they were good.
