The Mogan region of Gran Canaria, which includes Puerto Rico is reputed to be the hottest, driest part of the Canaries. My experiences certainly confirm this.

Yeah Puerto Rico was about 35 degrees when I was there September 2004.....

I have never been to any of the Canary Islands in January but was in Gran Canaria (Mogan) in November 2006 when the temperature hit 31°
I agree with Cyberhiker, although temperatures vary from year to year I think that Gran Canaria has a reputation for being the warmest of the islands.

ive not been to any of the other canary islands.. but did go to tenerife in feb about 4 or 5 years ago, there was a constant nice breeze, which felt comfortable, still sunbathed, went swimming in the sea and pools... but unfortunatly we all got sunburnt, because i hadnt realised exactly how hot it was!
