We found Alcudia an excellent resort for families. We stayed in the Apartments part of the Lagotel which had a separate bedroom (twin beds) and two sofa-beds in the sitting room. The sofa-beds were fine for our son (who is 10) but might be uncomfortable for an adult to sleep on.

The apartments were cleaned every other day to a high standard and the rooms were well-appointed and fitted. Only complaint is that the walls are quite thin so we were woken every night by the mutton-dressed-as-lamb bleached Essex girls next door rolling in at 1-2am and having loud conversations. The majority of people staying at the Lagotel were families with children, so I guess it's just our bad luck we ended up next to a couple who were there to party!

The hotel has 3 swimming pools in the main complex and another 2 over the road. The main pools have plenty of chairs and non-adjustable sunbeds to spare, but there was a lack of adjustable sun loungers and unless you were down at the pool by 10am you were pretty much out of luck. The pools were large, clean and well-maintained, nicely-shaped and with plenty of space for weak swimmers, kids and adults alike.

We had specifically booked this resort because of the kids club, but in the event our son did not want to go to club. All he wanted to do was swim! My husband and I were happy to chill out by the pool and keep an eye on him. There is a nice pool cafe/bar or you can go inside to the main bar and bring drinks out to the pool. We drank enough slushies to float the titanic! We had lunch several times at the pool cafe, service was friendly and the prices reasonable.

The entertainment at the hotel was... well, if you fondly remember "Saturday Night at the London Palladium", you'll love it. If, like me, you remember it with fear and loathing, my advice is to drink yourself into a state of well-being, or stay away. We played Bingo a few nights, although as someone who worked in bingo clubs for 6 years, I felt an urge to leap onto the stage and beat the caller to death with his own microphone for not taking it seriously! However our little boy and most other kids seemed to enjoy the entertainment, so we were happy with that.

We stayed at the Lagotel last May and had such a fab time booked again for this October! We were not disappointed!

We were delayed for 2 hours on departure at Leeds/Bradford so didn't arrive until around 1am but check in was super fast and efficient and even at that time in the morning there was a buffet laid on for everyone which was very welcome.

We were given a room on the first floor very near to the one we had last year (over looking the lake) which accommodated 5 of us easily, it was a family room so our two eldest had a room to themselves and our youngest of 2 stayed in our room. There isn't a double bed just two singles pushed together but with three children sharing it didn't matter!! We had a friend come with us this time with her daughter and she was thrilled with everything too!

Food as before was excellent, plenty of choice for everyone, although did tend to over indulge!!

Bar staff are fabulous, very friendly and lively! especially Fina! Table service is offered which is great when ordering large numbers of drinks!

Entertainment great if not fairly basic, although you can't go abroad and expect River-Dance! Fabian still great but also had Pasquale helping this time who was brilliant, a very funny guy! Last year we stayed in May so the entertainment was outside which was better, however we got bitten to death by mossies even more than this time! (if you are prone to bites I seriously recommend you take plenty of antihistamine tablets and cream, you'll need it! even the locals get bitten!)

Does get a little noisy at night so don't plan on an early night, also some people tend to forget they have kids and let them run riot, regularly knocking the poor waiters flying who still managed to smile about it! (through gritted teeth I might add!!)

The elder kids used Wavelengths clubs both times and really enjoyed them (they are a godsend!) and this time our youngest was able to go in the creche which was run by brilliant friendly staff, we'd pre booked 3 sessions but she ended up with an extra 2!

Both pools are lovely but we spent most of our time at the beach or the newer pool. Water a bit cold but ok once you got in!

Nice weather considering it was mid October, just 1 day where we had a storm in the afternoon but that certainly didn't spoil our holiday!

Cleanliness great, our bedroom was kept spotless with regular towel changes and the downstairs loos were always clean and fully stocked.

Would definitely go back for a third time!

The hotel was great.

The food was brilliant and was well... let's just say I beat my friend in a food eating contest three days in a row.

The location was good, shops are about 2 minuets walk and there is a Burger King about five minuets away, done well.

The staff were great, some of the waiters were a bit pervy though but what do you expect if your going around in a bikini most of the time. Pasquale was great, we annoyed him a lot but he coped, I think he was worried when we said we would be back next year.

Gavin the Wavelength rep was great, he hung out with us all the time and is so funny, especially when he is being sarcastic, you should hear him sing though, he could break the windows no problem, only joking Gav.

We stayed for 1 week at Lagotel, we were very impressed with the staff, very friendly, and helpful.

We were self catering but on first night decided to try out hotel restaraunt. The food was superb, great choices of meat and fish, pastas, salads, desserts ect, and all you could eat. Also kiddies menu, which would satisfy the fussiest of them.

The entertainment was good the evenings we were there, the kids loved it. Must mention First Choice rep, Kelly. Left my wallet on bus to aquapark, coach left for another pickup, she rang bus depot, and had it back to me within hours, contents intact.Class act.

Stayed in the Lagotel which we have to say was the best holiday ever!!!!

The food at the hotel was delicious the entertainment was great for the children and a family friendly resort and the same in Alcudia town.

The beach is a 10 minute walk which we enjoyed doing each day and it's pure bliss, a beautiful clean beach.

The only downfall is the hotel bedrooms do not have double beds just 2 singles pushed together.

I lost my wallet in resort shop and it was handed into reception which I'm truly grateful for.
great country people food and beaches!!!!!!

Check-in - This was the best check-in I have ever had at a hotel. It took less than a minute which was ideal.

Rooms - The rooms were of a good size, a cot was in our room when we arrived (previous holidays, we have had to wait for one, and at 3.30am, you don't want to!). The only slight down fall of the rooms was they are a bit dated (the hotel is 20 years old)plus they were 2 twins and not a double, but I guess they need to cater for all. Lucky we had a balcony over looking the front of the hotel therefore we were undisturbed by the entertainment noise I have read about in previous reviews.

Reps - The only time we needed to use the reps was for the welcome meeting and when we arrived we had a letter explaing there was a meeting at 10.30 & at 12.00 the next day, we opted for the 12.00 as we had arrived at 3.30am. However we sat in the bar and wait for 15 mins and no-one turned up, aparently they only do the later meeting if enough people show, but no-one bothered to tell us or the other 3 familys!

Weather - the first day we got there it was cold and windy and we panicked a bit! But by the next afternoon it was perfect sunshine for the rest of holiday and a really good, but not too hot, temperature - approx. 25-28c

Pools - There are two lots of pools one next to the hotel, this is divided into 2 pools (one cascading into the other) and a baby pool. These are chlorine (I think) although we spent more time at the ones over the road. These pools are much the same set up, but are salt water. The pools were pretty cold, but one you are in and swimming you get used to it. Although this was not ideal for our son who is 16 months, it wasn't until the last day that we decided to keep him in even though he didn't like it, and then he enjoyed it! - heated pools would be great here!

Creche - Our son went into the 'Tweety Creche' for six sesions when we were there. We pre-booked this at

Just got back after a great week spent at the Lagotel.

It is a large family hotel that had something for everybody. Our party had 2 infants a 3 year old and a teenager (oh and grandparents) and we all found lots of things we liked at breakfast and dinner. The choice was large, good variety and changed regularly. The breakfast on its own could set you up for the rest of the day!

Rooms were cleaned daily and bedding changed (except on Sunday).

The staff were friendly and helpful.

We used the pools across the small road because they were quieter. Also we discovered a new spectator sport, the towel/sun-bed race. The main pool opened at 9am and every day a fair few people waited at the gate until the time arrived and ...then they were off...the stampede began.

Our 5th floor room gave a good view of this hilarious(and slightly sad) sight. There was much heckling from the balconys...the Germans have nothing on the Brits now!!!!

The entertainment was just that, entertaining and stopped promptly at midnight. We had a hypnotist, acrobats, Rod Stewart tribute and a talent show.

The resort was a mixture of souvenir shops,bar/Restaurants and Spar shops all within easy walking distance, or during the day via the free shuttle bus to the beach.

Pirates was full during our week but we did the Inca market trip (biggest on the island) which was very, very busy and basically had lots of stalls selling the same stuff...they were mostly reluctant to haggle as well. We wouldn't do it again

2 of our party did the 'Son Amar' trip (a musical dancing dinner/show in an old castle/chateau) and really enjoyed it. They had the lowest priced seats but reckon they had a better view than the more pricier options.

We saw lots of people with Mossie bites but we took plenty of repellent and were hardly touched so be prepared. They do sell it in the well stocked hotel supermarket. The bottled drinks are almost half the price you would pay over the bar.

A very enjoyable week and we would definitely go back to this hotel again.

FOOD: We thought the food was very nice and very well presented. There was a different choice every night. This is our third time at this place and the food is still very nice.

HOTEL: The hotel is still the very best. The rooms are very clean and tidy. The hotel is still the very same but still very good. We went to the pools across the road as they are much quieter and much warmer. We were on the 1st floor which was very handy.

HOTEL STAFF: Hotel staff are still the same still very good. Bar staff very friendly and funny. Animation team still very friendly. Pasquale and Fambien still there and still very friendly and funny.

ENTERTAINMENT: Entertainment still very good keen much the same but still very good. The hypnotist, the four tops and the entertainment teams own shows were the best.

This is our third time at this hotel and we still give it 10 out of 10. We are hopefully going back next year.

We arrived at the hotel at about 9.30.
The restaurant was closed but we were told to go in and help ourselves to the cold buffet. This was very plentiful and included sweets.

The hotel room was ok but be warned! Take your hairdryer there are none in the rooms. Don't go to this expecting peace and quiet.
The entertainment was at the back of hotel with all balconies overlooking and boy was it noisy! It finished at 12 but no one seemed to move until way after 2!

The food was ok but on the first night I had mash and it tasted very much like smash.

One day we were not given bath towels so I rang reception and they put me on hold. I rang again and the same thing happened so I rang again to which I was told they were very busy and to ring back later! 3 cheers for reception!!!
