It would appear that this hotel is now listed on first choice as the "Riviera de Goa" and not Riviera Hermitage as previously advertised.
Has anyone stayed here yet?
Not stayed there. Its owned by the same people who have the Lagoa Azul. 50 rooms opened at the Riveria so far, but by next season there should be 200 opened.
Apparently managed by Mario who used to be at the Phoenix Park in Candolim
As long as the hotel doesnt resemble the Phoenix Park in any shape or form then it should be ok
Gemma, where in Arpora is it? Can't say i know it.
Did a search and found it.
Will be staying for 10 weeks in December at Riviera Palms in Arpora.

Hi Goangirl are you not going back to the Marinha Dourada in December?
it's just about opposite ingoes market (give or take 100 yards)
Hi Gemma, having a change of scene next year after staying at MD for last 10 years. But i am sure i will miss it and the lovely staff. But we are only down the road, so will catch up with our friends and visit the MD while we are there. Don't say anything, but KJF thinks he has got rid of me! No Chance!!
Well Goangirl you will only be up the road so I am sure you will bump into him, or see him at one of the meets! Will be interesting to see what you think of the new hotel.
Ive had a look at the Riveria de Goa online and I must admit it does look the business.
We visited it back in November and had a look at one of the finished rooms, it is VERY NICE. I was just wondering if anyone had actually stayed there this season. Yes Mario is managing the place, he and another friend of ours showed us around (Vinson who also departed from the PPk). I think it will be a stunning hotel when it is fully open but price wise a little too expensive for us. I believe they are also hoping to open a casino there too - not something I personally am interested in. Next door they have built some nice apartments but they overlook the hotel pool area and I wouldn't fancy looking at peoples smalls hanging on their balconies
I am looking forward to seeing a review about this hotel so any HTer who does stay there please report back to us? Thanks. Fizz

Is it only First Choice who are selling Riveria De Goa? Ive been having a look about and so far First Choice are the only company that I can see going there.
We are very interested in booking this up because it looks the business. Just a pity there is no reviews on it yet.

Yes, it does look nice Gemma. Like you said, I have only seen it being promoted on the first choice site. Maybe as more and more rooms are up and running perhaps they will then offer rooms up to other travel ops. I don't expect to stay there as I think it will be on the expensive side although if they have any special deals at any time then I certainly would consider it as the room we looked at was fantastic. All the areas of the hotel that we were shown in November were still under construction but they appeared to be paying a lot of attention to the fine details and the quality of the finishes were excellent. The kitchens were still being installed when we went but there were huge separate areas for different food preparation and all stainless steel fittings, I think my friend did the right thing to take a job there as F & B Manager. It certainly did look "the business"
We will no doubt visit every now and again for a meal when we are next in Goa (which will be March next year).

Its quite reasonably priced on First Choice site Fizzy. Ive been checking it every day, we were thinking of booking for 20 March. However, I will keep my eye on the price for a week or two and see what happens.
This Hotel seems to have dropped dramatically in price, in last seasons brochure it was astronomical! but now it's just a little bit more expensive than Marinha, and given that it's new and the standard of rooms, it seems very good.
However, I do still love the setting at the Marinha so I think I'll stick with it.

But you see you might like it better Miccie
because you liked the Sun Village and have now opted for the Marinha Dourada, so who is to say you wouldnt prefer the Riveria de Goa to both of them
For March it is costing about £750 per person, I dont think thats too bad.
PS. I might go and then I will let you know what its like ok

I agree Gemma, but the Marinha's setting by the lakes is really lovely, much better than Sun Village, although the breakfast at Sun Village is much much better than MD, hmm decisions
, but no I know the answer!

I agree with you Gemma its not a bad price at £750 for this standard of hotel and cheaper than some others which imo are very over priced for what they offer. We usually set a £1300 budget for the two of us and have managed to keep within this pretty much (normally for 3 weeks) however it is getting really difficult now unless its f/o and find our own accomodation (which we have done before). Maybe we will do another f/o and see what the walk in price will be in March - you never know we might get a good price from Mario. Trouble is I have seen a nice guest house that I fancy staying at
Seems I shall have the same dilemma as Miccie
We are also going in March as have got a big party to arrange for my OH's 60th on 21st.

Fizzy we have been looking at flying out 20 March, so hopefully we will get to meet you in Goa
£1300 is a reasonable amount to set aside, probably about normal and similar to what we pay.
As my OH said its not all that much on top of our normal budget to try a different (better?) hotel and might be worth a bit of extra money.
I am keeping my eye and things just now and will decide in a few weeks time.
