When you come out of the hotel, turn towards the sea, when you get to the sea, turn left along the new coastal walkway, the first hotel you come to is the Marlita beach, This has lots of activities going on, daytime and evening.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah i've already seen the Marlita Beach in the brochures (found a cheap price on Thomas Cook website for it but had gone by time i went to book) and i noticed it was right near the Platomare..... i didn't know if it would be ok to use the facilities of another hotel though! If so that sounds a good idea (might even use their pool too as it looks alot bigger and more spacious than ours, lol)

if you can afford it in the budget, go to the Magic Dancing waters show one night

The whole of Protaras and Pernera is full of entertainment.. you can't miss it to be honest.. wander around and dive in to whatever place takes your fancy.. pubs/bars/cafés/restaurants are all happy to have children in (I say children but at 12 I was re-wiring houses so I was an old 12 year old)

Thanks guys! Can i also ask, ive heard there is a Mexican in Protaras that does an All-You-Can-Eat buffet, what is the name of the place and does anyone know how much it is? Also does anyone know of anymore All-You-Can-Eat places in Protaras/Pernera (or even Ayia)????

Hi, I cant remember the name of the all you can eat Mexican but we did eat in there in October. Think it was 9.95 euros each, was lovely food too. Its big place you cant miss it really on Protaras strip just over the road from MacDonalds. There is an all you can eat Chinese a bit further up the road on the same side as the Mexican. There is also another all you can eat Chinese in Pernera called Koumfoukius (spelling may be a bit out). Didnt try the chinese in Protaras but have eaten in the one in Pernera before it was all you can eat buffett and the food was lovely. If you look around there are loads of places that do set meals for very reasonable prices too, we've tried a few of them - to be honest I've never had a bad meal in any of my visits.

Entertainment wise you will be fine, almost all of the bars do entertainment and welcome kids. Everyone we have met has always been friendly, locals and holidaymakers alike

The Mexicans is called Chi Chi's

There's a very good all you can eat in Pernera called "The Point". Can't miss it. Puddings are extra though.

Regarding eating out again (sorry, lol) but ive seen some hotels in Protaras that have all u can eat buffet breakfast and dinners at quite cheap prices (i think one was called The Vangelis and it was like 3 euros breakfast adults, half price kids and dinner was i think 8 euros, again kids half price)....but i wondered if anyone knows if these prices/offer is only for guests staying at the hotels - or do u think they wouldn't care as long as u paid? We were in the Anastasia next to the Marlita, we were half board but my brother and his wife were self catering, at another place, they decided to eat with us one night and the price paid was the same as advertised in the reception for guests who wanted to upgrade.

Don't know if thats because the meal went on our room bill.

The Mexican is at the top of the road when you come of the new coastal path as you get hit Protaras.

My daughter used the kids play area and pool at the Marlita they just bought a drink for the kids,

There is a local tv Magazine available that has half price vouchers for use at weekends only, but i am not sure if you would find it in the resorts.

There is a big supermarket up in Paralimni, its Called Orphanides, where things would be cheaper than in the resort, you can get the bus from the sharp bend as you turn down to the Platomare, but if there is only 2 of you it might not be worth while.

I know you will enjoy it,and the weather will be fab. I am over next week for a fortnight I will try and find the magazine and if the coupons are in I will report back here, my daughter has 3 children and she gets the magazine every year, but she knows what to look for now.

I will be worlking in a hotel behind then Platomare and next to the Marlita Beach (Papantonia)

I believe most hotels dont mind people going in as long as obviously yjey buy a drink or some food.

I know we will be having entertainment but dont know what yet as we dont open until May 1st.

There is quite a bit of entertainment in the Pernera area which is where the Platomare is and even more in Protaras itself.

Thankyou for all your information elizabeth and cardiff lad - sounds like going to the other hotels should be ok, and of course we would only be too happy to buy their food and drinks whilst doing so! Any vouchers towards the water-park would be a great help, especially as my son turned 12 only 2 weeks ago and now has to pay adult price (although he is small for his age and would 'easily' pass for under) - we don't even use most of the slides, etc at the water-parks, we just like to have a go on the lazy rivers, and wander around, etc - although looking at pictures and videos of Water World the slides actually look quite good (ie you end up sliding into shallow water at the bottom and not under deep-ish water like alot of parks we've been to do)!
The supermarket sounds good too elizabeth, as there may be only 2 of us, but as we like to have snacks (along with the odd meals) during the day it will be handy to fill up our fridge/cupboards from the super-market with things like biscuits, cakes, crisps and bottles of pop - cheaper than buying round the pool Ive been downloading various photo's of the resort now off different internet sites and have actually spotted Chi Chi's now (amongst other places) as well as watching peoples videos of the main street on you-tube, so im getting a really good idea now where to go....can't wait to see it for real now Roll on 28 days

You will be ok, I first ever went to Protaras with my daughter and grandson as my husband could'nt get time off work. The minute I set foot in the place I knew I wanted to buy a place there, and 5 years later we did.

Now we all know where Cardiff lad (Ian) is working , I am sure he will be able to offer you any help if you need it,

You can get the bus to Ayia Napa water park at the sharp bend as you go down to the Platomare , it drops you right outside, don't bother with the Protaras water park, its right beside your hotel, my daughter said its a waste of money.

Pubdog has reminded me the name of the magazine I will try and check to see if the vouchers are in.

There is also a fun fair in Ayia Napa, again the bus will take you there, go carts right beside the McDonalds in Ayia Napa as well as at the Water Park.

Don't forget the boat trips...

I have seen the Protaras water park from google earth (and one photo off internet) and it does look very shabby and rough. Think i'll definately use the money for Water World instead.

We will be going into Ayia at least a couple of times, so will look out for the fair and the go-karts!

Ive been trying to search boat trips and like the look of the one organised by Steens restaurant. It is advertised on their website so hopefully we can go. Dont know how much the others charge but this one seemed quite good value because it lasts most of the day: This is what their website says about their boat trips:

"Beginning with Sangria and Light Lunch at Steen's you are then transported to the Golden Coast harbour.
You then embark on the yellow boat, Artousa, where you will be served Complimentary Wine/Soft Drinks (full bar service is available.) A 3 hour Cruise down the the coast to beautiful Cape Greko follows, allowing stops for swimming, snorkelling, cliff jumping, kayaking, parascending (at a greatly reduced price.) All equipment is supplied.
On return to the harbour you are transported to your accommodation. In the evening, after freshening up you return to Steen's for a 3 course Evening Meal with Live Entertainment.
All this for the amazing price of €39.00 with child reductions."

Sounds ok to me, although i will still shop around to find better deals. We dont swim so just a trip to sea with maybe a stop off at a beach would be enough, although the longer the better!
