After reading all the reports before leaving i was a bit wary of what the place would be like. When we arrived in the early hours the hotel looked amazing which was a good thing. We checked in and we were all given a bag with water, fruit and a sandwich, we were then taken to our room by a bell boy who spoke no English.

The room was very large and seemed to be okay.

The hotel is always being cleaned and floors scrubbed, rooms are cleaned daily and linen changed reguarly but the maids speak no English but very polite.

There was a wide choice of food fish, meat, potatoes, salad, cold meats. Meals were good considering the amount of people catering for. If you wanted snacks there was a pizza bar (limited to two slices per person) and also a hot dog bar also (limited to two per person).

Hotel is near to nowhere but a short taxi ride from the front of the hotel takes you to Sunny Beach or Nessebar (which is well worth a visit) also there's a boat which takes you to Nessebar from the jetty which cost 12 levs only one trip each way per day.

Staff were very friendly but could hardly speak English but got by. Very polite and helpful.

We went to animation hall some nights for entertainment which was very good but need to get there early because it gets very very busy this is run by locals working at the hotel. Theres is also entertainment poolside on the stage kids disco, quizzes and bingo this is run by the first chioce reps who work very hard. There is a kids club for aged 3-8 three times a day once again run by First Choice reps. If it gets a bit windy they have the First Choice entertainment in the Irish Bar inside the hotel but like the animation hall gets very busy very quick.

All in all the hotel was good and we all enjoyed the holiday. If you are going please don't worry everything is okay honest WE HAVE BEEN!!!!!!!!!

We were a party of 11 adults + 4 under 16's and spent two weeks 23/8 to 6/9 at The Royal Park in Elenite. I have been home now for 2 weeks to enable a chance to give a fair report rather than a knee jerk reaction.

I have to say that I was very concerned with some of the earlier reports but our experience of this hotel ties in with what has been said more recently. It is obvious that there have been problems, many of which have been dealt with in a temporary measure to get the summer of 2004 out of the way so that the builders can come back during the close season to rectify them properly for next year. Having said that the problems are only there if you want to go looking for them instead of doing what you paid for, ie; getting on with your holiday!

The rooms are spacious and ours was on the 5th floor overlooking the entire beach and swimming pool area plus we had free access, without having to leave our room, to the evening entertainment which took place in that area most evenings. That was a bonus as It does definitely get very chilly some evenings and warm clothing is a must or you will freeze. The First Choice reps put on a terrific show in general and I have never seen a team of reps work harder and be more available than this crew and nothing is too much trouble for any of them. That is also true of almost all the staff at this hotel who despite the language barrier try very hard to please on a pittance of a wage.

The food, is, as already stated more recently, generally very good but the absence of junk food appears to be a problem for some people whose dietary needs seem to be in turmoil through lack of grease!

The pizzas which can be had during the day are very nice and drinks are readily available with little to no queing all over the complex, as are ice creams.

There is a small problem in the evenings after about 21.00hrs when the bars tend to fill up and there are too few servers and too many drinkers. However, to alleviate this problem you make sure you top up properly when you reach the bar to save having to keep going back! There are ways round everything if you use a little savvy! But some people will always moan no matter what.

The hotel is kept spotless by an army of cleaners who never stop working and when you have certain types who bring there dirty habits with them they are needed. This also applies to the pool and beach area which is generally full of rubbish by the end of the day and although a little of this can be attributed to the lack of bins there is nothing to stop people putting their rubbish in bags and placing it in bins that are provided in the hotel. Although I hate to say it, a visit to the German end of the complex proves my point. That area is spotless. It does make one ashamed to be British at times! Whilst on the subject of the resort in general it is very pleasantly landscaped and very safe.

I would recommend a visit to Nessibar either by boat from the jetty at the hotel ( but do take care especially with children as there are slats missing and it is an adventure just reaching and then boarding the boat ) or much cheaper but much more uncomfortable by bus from the hotel entrance. Sunny Beach has loads of places to eat but is built for tourists and compares less favourably with some of our own resorts of that ilk. However there is, a McDonalds, where those suffering withdrawal symptons from grease can get a top up!

We did do the Bulgarian night with First Choice and despite a thunderstorm had an enjoyable evening and we also did the jeep safari which despite five engine failures one blowout and a minor accident between one of the jeeps with a local van driver ( nobody hurt thank goodness as four of our party were on board ) was also very enjoyable and a lot of fun. ( would not recommend it for young children as it is a long day driving )

All in all for this type of holiday it was excellent and when you consider the 11 adults paid

Like so many others we too had many worries and concerns on the build up to our holiday. We went with an open mind, determined that we were going to enjoy ourselves, regardless of the comments we had read prior to our departure.

The Hotel was constantly being cleaned, by many members of staff. The polished marble floors didn't always lend themselves to this. There was one little girl that seemed to be there 24 hours a day cleaning the entrance!

The staff were very friendly and certainly spoke better English than we could speak Bulgarian.

The biggest problem we could see in the hotel were the British visitors. They seemed to be wearing a uniform of Red England football shirts most of the time. They had trouble holding their drink, maybe they shouldn't have tried to drink all day and night!

Luckily most of them left on the Monday of our 2nd week on the Manchester or Newcastle flights. Sadly they left their trade marks by punching through ceiling tiles along some of the corridors, and smashing the mirrors in the lifts.

My sons and I also had England football shirts with us but we were too ashamed to wear them, in case the other nationalalities there thought we were yobs as well.

We overheard an english chap at breakfast one morning telling his family sitting at his table that the place was a death trap, that none of the emergency lighting worked. How the hell did he know! If that was all he could worry about during his holiday then he's a real sad git!. Maybe the lights that had had lighted cigarettes thrown into them in the stairwells wouldn't have worked, but that was hardley the hotel's fault.

The place was full of compensation seekers, looking to pick holes in whatever they could. The reps had a hard time but in our opinion did an excellent job.

We did have a couple of problems but because we were polite to both the reps and the staff they were polite to us and bent over backwards to solve the problems.

The food was edible, none of us went hungry, sometimes it could have been better and we could tell when the english chef had a day off but it was ok.

We would certainly visit again, but it is not 4 star in our standards. The management and staff are trying very hard but tourism is still a very new industry there. They will get there but they have a lot to learn. Had we spent 4 star money we would not have been happy but we only spent 2 star money, that was all we expected and were not disappointed. What was disappointing was the yob culture of our countrymen which for the first time ever whilst abroad, ashamed us. We usually have problems with the french or germans but not this time, they were really nice people. We even asked some of the staff who they had most problems with, and without hesitation they said the British. What a shame!

The Bulgarians didn't spoil our holiday, it was the British!!

Just returned from Royal Park, had a wonderful holiday, agree with everything that has recently been said - food was nothing to write home about but edible, pizza and hotdogs were great. if you ask for a glass in the reception bar they will wash them up for you!we did hear a few people moaning but that tends to be what english people do - perhaps the staff can come over as quite abrupt but this is due to lack of english, not rudeness. I'm sure everyone will have a lovely time!

We were three Norwegian girls travelling to Bulgaria for one week, and we had an excellent stay at Royal Park Hotel in Elenite. We loved the hotel. And for those that didn't enjoyed their stay because of small issues that normal people ignore, too bad for you!! What can you expect, when the hotel is brand new?!? Anyway, the location was absolutely beautiful. It was quiet and peaceful, and at the night we went to Sunny Beach which was a very nice place, and there was a lot to buy. The food were OK (could have been better) and the staff were nice and polite, though not everyone talked english very well. The hotel cleanliness was great, they washed and cleaned every day.

We hope that you will enjoy your stay, we surely did, and we're certainly going back next year.

Its really nice to read that many who stayed at the R-Pk had a great holiday. There are many conflicting reviews on these pages which i have read and considered at length...
Clearly the hotel opened before it should have done, but as the weeks have gone on the hotel has improved considerably, both in food and staff.
For those who suggest or imply that certain writers leaving negative feedback on this hotel are incorrect or are moaners - think again... Whilst i am delighted many had a 5* holiday, i am also a witness to many that did not.
As for the improvements, well...
1)
In the first week of july the manager was SACKED and replaced by a German mgr.
2)
In that same week an English holiday-maker taught the Bg chef how to cook the eggs and the bacon. This was a temporary measure as FIRST CHOICE had to take the drastic step of flying FOUR F/Choice chefs out there.
3)
The towel issue was resolved due to buying 3000 new towels and changing the laundry service to one in Sunny Beach as opposed to the one they were using some 27 km away.
4)
Food poisoning did occur, but this dramatically reduced as the F/Choice head office implemented food temp testing by july 7th aprox.
5)
The new manager advised the staff to be more friendly as the stern or stuffy approach was offending guests. This and all the above information came directly from a first choice rep.

The list is endless to be truthful, but i can say that i could see imprrovement by week 2 of our holiday, and whilst the hotel looked very impressive, it wasn't incredible for everyone.
Others should bare in mind that not all room where completed, and many of us weren't being 'irritable english holiday makers' by complaining especially when workmen kept us up until 4am mixing cement near our balcony. Had the air conditioning worked we could have closed the balcony door, but as it didn't - we had little choice.
And for those still toying with the possibility that many of us early stays at the Royal Park were moaners - maybe they should watch HOTELS FROM HELL in August or september. Yep - the ITV film crew saw the lot. Unless of course they just flew out for the food!?

arrived home 19.07.04 .Really worried before we went due to all the bad reports. We had a brilliant time not as bad as everyone is making out.THERE WERE 3 CHILDREN IN OUR PARTY AGED 1, 5, AND 7 they ate all the food (NOT CHIPS EVERYDAY LIKE HALF THE KIDS THERE)they ate all the meat fish veg etc and it was fine it was hot and alot better than the all inclusives weve been on before.the hotel was very clean with fresh towels daily and room cleaned daily. The weather was great the 1st week but not as good for 5 days the 2nd but that gave us chance to see the sites.Ate out in different places from pizza to bulgarian food fantastic, cheap and good choices.People were complaining mostly about the weather get a life know where in the world is guaranteed 100% sunshine you make the most of whats on offer. Talking to other guests we seemed to be one of the very few people who had paid full price and it was worth every penny. The people who seemed to be complaining probably paid next to nothing. The staff tried very hard to speech english which alot did well. The reception staff were the least approachable but luckily we didnt need to speak to them often.First choice staff were excellent there was always plenty about if you had a problem.kids entertainment and the entertainers were A1 freindly and excellent with all kids and adults. Anyone going to this hotel please dont worry it only seems to be the people after compensation complaing. We are thinking of going back next year if not we fancy Croatia and we will definately go first choice again next year

Like most people we were a bit apprehensive before we went but need not have very worried. The hotel is very impressive from outside and has a very nice reception area.We found the staff very friendly and helpful despite the language barier We were on 7th floor in a kids suite. This was very spacious with double bed(two singles together), double sofa bed, wardrobe dressing table, a table and chair, tv, mini fridge and then through to a space with bunkbeds and a single sofa bed. I would say thought that the bunkbeds are definately for younger children as they are not full size. we found the place very clean. The maid was in every morning to clean the bathroom and make up the beds. If you wanted towels changed you just left them on floor. All over the hotel there always seemed to be cleaners at work. The food was ok. there was usually always something you could find to eat although they could have probably catered for children better as most children tend to be fussy anyway. We did not really check out entertainment. We usually went to bar at holiday village at night where our older children could play pool or go to arcade. There could probably have been a bit more for older children as kids club was only up to 8 year olds but my eldest did enjoy the kayaks and there were mini scooters for hire that they enjoyed. Would probably not stay there again only because of the location although enjoyed the week we were there.
