I probably would have had a great time at Bahia Principe except everything seemed to be working against me!

The hotel is nice and clean and the staff are pretty friendly. The men smile and sometimes make comments on your looks (NEVER derogatory) which would never happen up here in Canada but that is just the culture so you have to expect it.

The animation team, ESPECIALLY compared to other resorts, is great. The shows they put on at night are actually funny and make you laugh out loud.

The food was Ok I would highly recommend booking reservations at the a la carte restaurants when you first get to the resort, otherwise you will get VERY sick of the buffet by the end of the week. Don't get me wrong when I say this, b/c the hotel is a good one- but it definitely is not a 4 star. More like 3.5. I've been to 4 and 5 stars and this does not compare.

I travelled to Dominican Republic late December and stayed at the Bahia Principe for two weeks. It didn't help that we were delayed 24 hours due to bad weather and when we arrived at the hotel it was still raining, the staff were very pleasant and helpful and offered a free cocktail on arrival.

Our luggage was taken up to the rooms (for a small tip of course). The rooms are very basic for a 4* hotel and our air conditioning was constantly breaking. The maids came everyday sometimes a little bit to early for me as I like a lie in but they did an excellent job.

I was not so pleased with the food but I am a very fussy eater and just mainly stuck to bread rolls and chips, my boyfriend on the other hand loved the food but did say it got a bit boring after 2 weeks.

I didn't really like the evening entertainment and it was even worse is when they drag people up on the stage if you don't want this to happen sit well at the back. The holiday on the whole was disappointing, as there is very little do especially if like us it rains for the full two weeks that you are there.

I would defiantly advise people to go on the trips just to get out of the hotel for a bit believe me after two weeks you feel like you've been in a prison, I couldn't wait to get out!

On the whole the hotel was nice but not up to a 4* standard hope anyone who is going has better luck with the weather than us, I would not stay in this hotel again I think next time I'll go somewhere where there is more to do in the day and at night.

Xmas and New Year ruined, plus husbands 50th birthday.

I would not return to this place if it was free.

On arrival at the hotel my findings were very disappointing my son had to be moved from his room as it was damp and electrical wiring exposed. The next room he was sent to had wiring exposed and no hot water.

If your idea of paradise is being eaten alive by fleas, moving rooms 3 times, under cooked repetitive food and going home with a boil disease then this is your dream holiday!

If not stay well away!

Well I just came back from this hotel on October 9th,2004 I had a good time but I wouldn't recommend this hotel for single people it is mostly couples which is really good for them but not for single people. The only concern I have is that 3 of my girlfriends including myself came back from our trip and like 3 days later we all wake up with red and whitish dots all over our body and we think its from the sand flies but we aren't sure. We are all just wondering if its sand flies why are they appearing now and why do they itch so bad and why do they look like chicken pocks????? We all have been feel under the weather it could be from the change of weather but we all have the same symtoms so it could be from these insect bites.

We stayed in the Bahia Principe in October of last year and got married while there.

You couldn't have expected any more from the staff they were always cleaning around the hotel. Room was excellent always cleaned very spacious and the maids always done things with your towels etc.

The hotel food was good there was always alot of variety and something for eveyones tastes. The mediterranean restaurant was excellent and so was the Mexican,Italian was o.k but remember and book these.

It was my second visit to this hotel, when I returned I booked to go back in 6 months & take 6 of our family with us.

The hotel is spotless cleaners work until 10.30pm.

The food was good no upset stomachs I thought the Italian was the best.

Right on the beach but mind the sand flies dont bite.

The shows put on by the staff were in my opinion naff- but there was plenty to do on the strip until 4am.

Eddie the breakfast coffee server made sure you started your day with a smile.

I can & do recommend this hotel for young & old alike.

I have been to this hotel once before and i can't give it enough credit.

Upon arrival the animation team line up and do the club dance which is something that you will need to learn as it is done repeatedly daily. The reception is large and clean with very helpful staff. There was no checking in as we filled in out form on the coach and the staff bring your cases round to room for you so your holiday can begin straight away.

There are 4 al a carte restaurants which have to be booked and the mediterrean is definately the best. The buffet restaurant offers ample choice to suit every diet. I can honestly say that there is something for everyone. There is also a very handy pizza/burger bar on the beach which is ideal for families with children.

The hotel is situated on the beach which has plenty of sunbeds for everyone there is definately no need to reserve them here!!!

The hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the animation team are great at getting people motivated! They had learnt our names on the first day and always make you feel welcome. The daytime programme is aimed at all ages and abilities so there is no excuse for not joining in!!

We booked this hotel as a last min deal. Already having travelled to Dom Rep. the year before.

We had nothing but problems from when we arrived they lost our luggage to start with we had to move rooms twice due to the standards and all of our party being covered in bites from fleas in the bed.

The food was very poor when we made a complaint to the reception we also found at least another 15/20 english people making complaints that day also.
The hotel then upgraded us so we could all use the food area in the adults only area at the other side of the resort which was ok until myself and a lady we meet both had glass in our breakfast.

The staff were rude the only good side was the rep was helpful we thought until we got home and never received any contact from Thompson unlike she had stated.

Just to top it off on the last day I fell ill with food poisoning and had to fly home very ill I then spent four days in bed back at home and had to take time off work, do not think I have ever felt so ill in my life thankfully I was the only person in our group that ate the meat dish that we think did the damage.

Myself and two other members in our party have stayed with this hotel chain before in Mexico and do not be put off by this one the one in Mexico has to be one of the best hotels I have evered stayed in by far its a shame they can not seem to get things right here. Its the last time we go back to Dom Rep. its put us off now completley.
