Would definitely recommend staying here - the apartment was huge, with beautiful views across the bay towards Dubrovnik.

The kitchen was very well equiped, the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen/lounge/diner were very spacious, with 2 balconies.

The villa is roughly a 15 minute walk into the centre of Cavtat. I would definitely recommend car hire as it is so much easier to explore the area fully.

We stayed at the Villa Markoc earlier last year. The villa is situated above the lovely town of Cavtat. From the town you have to climb up a rather steep hill to the villa, but the views certainly compensate for this, and you also get to burn off those extra calories! Anita the owner picked us up from the airport. When we arrived I was totally overcome by the lovely accomodation and the fantastic garden with resident tortoises and a lovely little swing for the little ones. Anita had left us a bottle of wine and some juice on the kitchen table. The villa is well eqipped, and the beds are really comfortable. A cot and a high chair was provided for little man at no extra cost. The villa was tidied everyday but one, with a change of bed linen half way through the week.

We loved Villa Markoc. Travelled with Tapestry, who have now ceased trading, so have taken details from the lovely owner, Anita (who was a fantastic hostess) and will definitely return again independently.

The kitchen is well equipped, we ate in a lot (go down to the market by 8am to buy wonderful fish), and the views from the balconies make it almost impossible to go out.

The rooms are big, the bedroom air-conditioned (very necessary) and comfortable.

The walk back up the hill is not so bad, and means you are well away from the crowds.

Most apartments in this block were booked by Tapestry, we booked independently finding it through www.dubrovnik-online.com and paid only 280 euros for the week.

Plus points, beautiful lounge/bedroom, nicely furnished, air conditioning, if needed. Beautiful views - 2 balconies, one off the lounge, another off the kitchen, both with chairs and table and big enough to eat out on. TV, DVD, etc, though we never used them. Friendly and helpful owner, Anita. A couple of mini-markets close by.

Negative points, 15 - 20 minute uphill walk from the harbour, restaurants, etc (though it was possible to get the bus for about 50p).

The kitchen could have done with updating. There were lots of appliances, even a dishwasher but the cooker and fridge, etc, looked like they had seen better days. This didn't bother us though, as apart from breakfast, which we ate on the balcony, we ate out.

Cavtat and the apartment are on the flight path - but apart from Sunday, which is very busy, there were only about 4 or 5 flights a day.
