1. A hotel in the middle of nowhere - which suited us fine. Not everyone shared this opinion, so think carefully and ask yourself - 'do I really want to have to walk up and down rocky mountain paths for 40 minutes, just to catch a bus to nearest town?' Lots of people hired cars (between 20 and 30 Euros per day).

2. It's worth paying the extra for a sea-view (and you'll have to pay, as this hotel doesn't give anything away for free). The views are absolutely fantastic, particularly the breath-taking sunset.

3. Entertainment was surprisingly good. Saw a great comic and the Thompson's troupe were very enthusiastic and quite talented.

4. Food is plentiful (no worries for the greedy here) and reasonably tasty, given how many need to be fed.

5. Drink Prices!!! Dreadfully expensive. 4 Euro for small, watery beer, 2 Euro for tiny Coke (well brown sugar water and God knows how much for coctails! Most people either provided their own (if you know what I mean) or slogged up the mountainside to nearby tavernas, where beers were 2.50 Euros.

Stayed in Yaliscari Palace hotel for 1 week September 2005.

Worth going for scenery alone. The most friendly staff you could hope to meet, from the chambermaids to the manager. Food of a good quality, never serving the same dinner menu twice in one week. Good pools and loads of sunbeds. Poor selection of drinks and a bit pricey.

Entertainment was acceptable to pass the evening away. Only gripe was steep location and lack of lighting on road outside. Do not phone home from your room as it is very expensive.

Have just spent a week here which we both throughly enjoyed, I would say the ony down side is the location.

We hired a car for 3 days and went off exploring which helped break the week up.

Prices at the bars are large beer 3euros, small coffee 2 euros, bar food looked good but to be honest we never tried it.

Hotel staff are very friendly, George from the dining room is something else, We never saw him without a smile, and will always make you feel at home.

Rooms were spotless and cleaned every day.

We never had a sea view, we were at the front over reception, down side being delivery lorries, more so the dustcart I never knew they made that much noise. Tip, - keep patio door shut and run the air con.

Hotel was full at our visit but we never had a problem getting sun loungers, use the lower area by the small pool, better views over the bays.

In all we had a fantastic time and we would go back again

We were a little disappointed in the hotel , which in previous years had been a Thomson Gold, my how standards have slipped. Our room was very dusty, and mirrors covered with previous occupants fingerprints. The bathroom needed ripping out and refitting. When you flushed the loo, more water came out the bottom of the cistern than down the pan. The bath was rusty although a slip mat was covering this up, and the shower head was clogged.

Food on the whole was very good, although someone please tell the chef to cook his veg a bit longer, as it was very tough, and the Brussel Sprouts were like bullets! The waiters and waitresses (especially Athina) were excellent. She was always smiling and helpful. There are two sittings for dinner, 6.30pm and 8.00pm. We were on the 6.30pm sitting and found that by 7.15pm the buffet was covered over ready for the 8.00pm sitting, so you had to rush dinner a bit in order to get your pudding, of which the choice was superb, or so my waistline tells me!

The sunsets from the hotel were stunning, and it was quite an event around 7.30pm when everyone went down to the pool terrace to watch the sun sink on the horizon

My daughter visited this year and it was as I expected it to be,- very quite and peaceful.

The rooms were comfortable and clean.

The food was ok.

The entertainment was ok but it wasn't a problem because it was not what we had come for. The pool bar staff were very entertaining and everyone was very helpful.

The location was ideal for us but I would not recommend it to anyone with walking problems, the hills were very steep.

I would definitely go back it was ideal for a real relaxing holiday.

This hotel is in an extremely quiet location, it is ideally suited for couples who want to get away from it all. Food is average 3 star. The hotel location and the staff are well above 3 star. There are 2 big pools and plenty of sun loungers, no need to reserve with towels, even in July.

Hotel has a full sized snooker table in the upstairs bar. The sunsets are spectacular and lots of people watch them from the patio area. There are also 2 tennis courts, but it was too hot to play when we were there.

Stayed in Yaliscari Palace June 05. The food was delicious with a wide variety of choice every day - although cost of wine and beer very expensive.

The cleanliness was 1st class and the hotel staff very friendly and amenable.

Entertainment most evenings of a fair standard.

If you want to go into Corfu town for the day, don't buy your ticket from the hotel - this will cost you 12 euro, if you go to the supermarket just in front of the hotel the ticket will cost you 95 cents!! Be warned.

As a couple we would definitely visit this hotel again it provided us with the R&R that we most definitely needed - 1st class

Generally communal areas in the hotel were very clean, our room although cleaned every day with fresh towels daily, could have been cleaner i.e. the bed throw had milk on from previous guests and the curtains were black at the bottom needed good clean.

Food was not great, one evening we both struggled to find anything to eat (although no one else seemed to mind)we would have gone out that night for a meal but as there is nothing at this resort we didn't have that option. Although lunches from the bar were fab!

There really is nothing there, one shop at the top of the steep hill, where you could also have a drink, another bar further up - that is it! But this suited us fine.

Entertainment ok - this place really isn't for kids, the few children that were there looked bored stiff!

Yaliscari palace is an excellent get away from it all half board hotel.

The rooms are very clean and a good size, and all are fitted out with the all important fridge for keeping your drinks ice cool, all rooms are air conditioned and on our visits we have always made good use of this.

A lot of the rooms have been recently refurbished so our advice is try to get allocated one of these rather than the older rooms. The food quality cannot be faulted and there was always a great choice of dishes, especially deserts, Yum!

Hotel is located on a pine covered mountainside, which might be a problem for the less mobile, but we enjoyed the walk through the olive groves to catch the local bus into Corfu town. The staff here were great, always cheerful and very helpful.

There is also a free bus to the beautiful beach which runs every ten minutes and if you don't want to bother with the beach you can lie around one of the very nice swimming pools and look at the fabulous views.

"Tip" buy your wine/beer/bottled water at the mini-market at the top of the hill on the right, the people here are very friendly and helpful. You can get a whole bottle of wine for just about the price of a glass at the hotel bars.

The entertainment is fair but we don't go in for this much and are happy to sit on the balcony watching the sunset with a nice glass of wine.

We have been back here again and again, May 03, May 04, June 05 and will definately be going here again in 2006 for a very relaxing break.

Went to Yaliscari in Sept'04, had a great time, food was good, staff excellent. There isn't much to do at the hotel itself, we ended up hiring a moped. In saying that the hotel is very very relaxing. Great place to go to get away from all the hussle and bussle of everyday life.
