We stayed at the Yaliscari Palace in September 2004 for 1 week it was a late deal for my husband myself and another couple we go out with on a weekend.

We found the hotel very clean and the staff very friendly also almost everybody in the hotel were very friendly.

The beach was lovely just a short bus ride down a very steep hill we never attempted to walk it.

All we did for the full week was laugh.

Went in to Corfu town we got a taxi from the hotel for about 20 euros had a lovely day there and did a lot of shopping. I know there isn

We stayed in this hotel for one week, unfortunately it rained for three days of the holiday.

The food was very bland and every thing seemed to be covered in olive oil! One night they had fish in curry sauce!

The hotel staff were very pleasant, reception were very helpful.

We had sea view room and the sunsets were beautiful it was well worth the extra money.

We would not return to this hotel again.

I have just returned from this hotel. I agree that there is not much around, but I personally feel this is part of the charm. It's in beautiful surroundings, very green. The hotel is clean and very friendly. The staff do all they can to ensure your holiday is enjoyable. The drinks are expensive, and the entertainment is...interesting, but typical holiday entertainment! It's all fun. Agree there is not much for children, but it depends on the children. I could see plenty of little ones enjoying the huge pool(s)! Food is well priced, salad being 5 euros,(huge salad) and the hotel food was good. Had a good selection, and tasted lovely. The taverna up the hill on the right is the best, great music, fabulous cocktails, and warm welcome. I had a fantastic time and would not hesitate to go back.

Hotel was very clean. Food was good. Plenty of evening/night entertainment.

staff were very freindly. You pick up some Greek in the hotel, with the staff talking to you.

There wasn't much around sowe hired a car to visit surrounding areas.

Overall brilliant hotel.

We stayed at the Yaliscari Palace for two weeks in June 2004. Views across the bay were lovely as stated, however Hotel was in the middle of nowhere, entertainment was very basic, and food by pool bar not good. Drinks expensive. We paid extra for a sea view, however the view was blocked by tall trees, so that was a bit of a waste. The bar staff were nice, however the bar closed at 1pm. We ended up hiring a car and spending most of our time in neighbouring Glyfada.Good restaurant there. Hotel food was ok, although extremely greasy. No Tea and Coffee facilities in room and 2.5 euro's for a small cup of tea. Was a happy hour between 6.30 and 7 pm, however this did not include beer or wine. Weather was lovely and views and sunsets nice, however the Hotel was not good enough to return to. We shall not be going back.

Visited this Hotel in June 2005 - for 2 weeks well worth it. The views from our room were exceptional, the food first class and we couldn't fault the cleanliness of the hotel.

I would say that the drinks were a little expensive at 4 euros for a vodka and coke and if you wanted just a coke in was 2 euros.

Not much to do in the evenings as the entertainment was quite basic, but because we had a lovely view from our balcony we were quite content to sit and relax there and have a game of cards and a drink.

I've heard next year it is being taken over by another Company and going All Inclusive. I hope that this will not spoil this hotel - you know what some people are like when they are getting drink for nothing!!!

Arranged by the hotel was expensive and the normal bus only ran from pelekas. However the scenery was beautiful and the walks enjoyable. I missed being able to amble about the shops when i felt like it. I felt a bit isolated. Also the wind was strong on the west coast. The drinks were expensive but they did have a happy hour. Not good enough to return to i'm affraid. Corfu in my opinion is beautiful but the tourist trade is killing the goose that layed the golden egg, there are buildings everywhere and soon it will have lost its character.

I have just returned after a week at the Yaliscari with my wife and 4 year old son. Although the hotel was very good and staff were good I would not recommend this hotel to anyone going with children, as it it not very child friendly. The meals were great for adults but had nothing for kids, no chips and everything had a sauce or herbs on it. My son ate most of his meals at local bars where he had pizza. There was also no kids entertainment. Having spoken to people from other hotels we found most had kids entertainment and also kids meals.

Apart from this it was a good holiday if you just want to laze on the beach which is very good or by the pool, as there is nothing else around for miles when you have a 4 year old.

We did go on a few trips Theos boat which is good and child friendly. The greek night was expensive 96 euros for the three of us, it finished about midnight and was a good night even for kids.

I would defiantly recommend paying the extra for the sea view, otherwise all your view is trees at the front of the hotel.

My husband and I have just spent a week at Yaliscari Palace. The hotel room was fab, very comfortable and well decorated - definitely worth paying the extra for the seaview (the sunsets are amazing) as the seaview side of the hotel faces south west and gets sun all day, the other side gets very little sun and doesn't have any view at all (other than very high trees). The air-conditioning was a little noisy.

The food was OK, a reasonable selection but nothing special but the waiting staff in the restaurant were second to none.

The drinks are a bit pricey 6 Euros for a coke and a beer! - you can buy big bottles of Amstel for 1 euro at the mini market just 10 yards away.

What I found a bit disturbing was that the hotel ran a bus to Corfu every day, it cost 10 euros per person for the return trip. The hotel has a captive market as there is no public transport within a 4 km radius of the hotel and they have taken advantage of this, however, from Pelekas (about 4 km up the coast) you can travel to Corfu for just 75 cents, the return being 1 euro 50. The hotel is making big bucks on the bus run to Corfu.

BE WARNED - the hotel is on a very steep hill, the entire area is very hilly - all of them are steep DO NOT GO if you have walking difficulties and make sure you have an inhaler with you if you have asthma. Also note that the hotel bus service from the hotel to the beach ends at 4.00pm - if you miss the bus at 4.00pm it is a long walk up a very steep hill back up to the hotel (on the way down to the beach the hill is only 10 minutes or so in gorgeous scenery - on the way back it is 25 minutes huffing and puffing up a very steep hill not caring that the scenery is beautiful).

That said, the taverna up the hill on the left does nice food and reasonably priced drink (cheaper than the hotel) and the taverna out of the hotel on the right makes tasty sandwiches (1 euro 90, compared with pool bar lunch for 8 euros). Both tavernas have mini markets attached to them. The one up the hill on the left hand side sells mainly souvenirs (no food or drink) and the one on the right directly out of the hotel gates sells drink, snacks and souvenirs. Both are very reasonably priced. There is a third mini market which is a bit bigger than the other two out the hotel to the right about 2 minutes down the hill and another taverna about half a mile down the hill, but not fun walking back up the hill after a few beers at night (no lighting). Other than these tavernas there is no other amenities within about 4 km and no public transport.

The hotel did have entertainment every night, not my cup of tea, but each to their own.

You cannot find fault with the hotel staff, they were very attentive and helpful as were the Thomsons Reps.

We went a couple of excursions, we particularly enjoyed Theos Boat BBQ, if we go back to Corfu we will go on this again. We also went on the trip to Paxos and Praga, a great trip to lovely places but a very long day. It would be better if they were two separate trips.

Please note that when leaving UK in "Duty Paid" shop, the prices for cosmetics are cheaper than in Corfu (regular shops and "Duty Paid" shop at the Airport) so get your cosmetics in Duty Paid shop in UK before flying out.
