BBE is a beautiful resort. Near two lovely little beaches. The appartments were lovely and clean. The Entertainment reps worked very hard, whilst some shows were very entertaining, involving the audience, and other shows were pretty poor. The duo called Impulse were ok to listen to, one or two nights a week, but not every night. The bar staff were friendly enough, but it did take a while to get served, suggest larger cups, and more staff.
Big NO NO. Do not book trips with reps, there are a few places outside complex to book trips, which will save you lots of euros!!!
There is a free bus to neighbouring towns, which is brilliant, but could do to run more often.
Food was lovely, definately recommend All Inclusive.
We had a great holiday but after all a holiday is what you make it.

on arrival in corfu airport we found it very busy, but not half as busy as to when you are coming home, be prepared for long queues. The journey to the hotel is about 45 minutes long.

The hotel is very clean and tidy, and so were the rooms. You can always get a sunbed but you couldn't get an umbrella, those where always taken so early but left unused for half the day!!!

The bar staff worked very hard but need more staff as it takes awhile to get served in the evening and the cups need to be bigger. The food is cheap but prepared and cooked to the highest standard.

The kids club for 9-11yr in the evenings always seemed to be between 7 and 9pm, and when dinner is at 6.30-9.30pm it can be difficult to be in two places at once, but when the kids did make it they enjoyed it.

The reception staff were always helpfull and polite. If you want to hire the safe in your room that costs 49 euros for two weeks(ouch!).Take enough clothes with you as laundry costs 15 euros for one wash.

The bus into town is great but need more choice on return times.(you need to book the bus the day before you go).The pool is very clean but can get busy.

If you go out of the gates at the pool end and turn left there is the best beach, the kids can go out quite far but the water still be at there waist, beautiful views and sand, and a life guard at this beach who is very nice and speaks excellent english, as do all the greek people we met, they are the most polite nicest people i have ever meet on holiday.

Just before the beach there is a supermarket and tanja travel. if you go into tanja travels you will get all the trips you want and they are loads cheaper than first choice, they speak great english and are very helpfull, we booked up horse riding (twice), a boat trip into corfu, hired a car and hired our own boat for the day, you can book all this with tanja and much much more.Tanja and her mum are the nicest people, and they will help you any way they can. We had a brilliant time and would definitly go back.

Rooms were clean and very spacious and the complex on whole was wonderfully set out, the views were lovely from every direction. Maid service was excellent...On a whole definately the nicest complex that I have stayed in.

Reading a few previous reports, we had no trouble at all obtaining sunbeds and we usually got there about 11.00am, the pool was lovely the kids came back home water babies!! One little warning though.. the pool side got quite slippy so be careful especially if you've got little ones. Another gripe i've heard off people is about the plastic cups...well it was only plastic in the pool side bar and seeing the amount of cups left on the floor by people the safety aspect is more important than getting a pint glass of beer.

The kids enjoyed the kids clubs, however they met that many friends, they didn't want to go to the clubs after the 3rd day.

We heard a few moans about the entertainment, ok Impulse sang the same songs every night!! But they worked really hard as well as the first choice reps did and my 3 kids danced and enjoyed themselves every night and happy kids mean happy adults!

Food was fabulous, be prepared to put some weight on and diet when you get home!! Lots to choose from every day, i thought the snacks could've been a little better though. But great if you like hot dogs, pizza and burgers.

The tavernas on the beach were lovey, staff very friendly and a great place to watch the football, although the result wasn't what we wanted but great atmosphere anyway.

Don't be put off by all the bad reviews.BBE seems to have cracked it this year.Complex was immaculate, staff reasonably friendly (all spoke excellent english)location is a bit in the middle of nowhere car hire definatly reccommended but barter with price we got 2 days for 55euros from girl in reception. The little food we did sample wasn't great and we were pleased we had chosen self catering all though we did feel we were in the singled out club with our red bands on when majority others had blue.Family run taverna up the road past supermarket was great very friendly and in opposite direction taverna called Olive Press wasn't ever busy looked a bit run down but fantastic food owner great guy needs to be given a try for a little bit of greek tradition.
Entertainment was diabolical staff tried hard too hard in the case of the little chubby seargant major who was female but sounded like a husky bloke my kids were terified of her.As for impulse the evening singers they need renaming Tone & Deaf then putting down.
All in all place great, views gorgeous great time had by us all. After all it's your holiday and the result is really up to you.

we have just returned from bbe on 29/6/04. what a fantastic hotel. staff really friendly, spiros, the assistant manager, is really hepful and attentive.thats the man to speak to, and he speaks excellent english. how much did i love speaking english there when england got knocked out of euro 2004. before you all say yeah yeah a scot moaning about engerland, we were the only scots there at one point so sympathise with me for 2 out of 3 games.

Michael the rep manager was a great guy, friendly and courteous, and wee clare the entertainer from worcester, she made up for the dreadful behaviour of charly from torquay(entertainer) with a serious attitude. leave there at once charly!!

rooms were cleaned every day, staff in the whole hotel were brill, mags, the first choice rep from glasgow was excellent no i'm not bias, kids club reps were excellent especially what they have to organise, yes nightly entertainment could have been better timed but give these guys a chance!! they are after all taking your kids away from you to give you a break. we all know what our kids are like. not wee angels all the time.

on a final note, i have noticed on previous comments about the "hotel" car hire as being good. let me tell you about our experience!!!--

as told at our welcoming meeting on arrival day the 1st choice reps did mention that they recommend europcar. i wish i paid more attention to that bit. we hired a car from the "pleaseant" girl in reception at bbe who is not anything to do with 1st choice or the hotel. the cars are dodgy, you dont actually get any insurane although she tells you there is no excess. of course there is no excess if there is no insurance, but if you ignore these words of warning about her and the company she represents, well its up to you. if you have children young enough that require a child seat this is where we found the real "pleasant" lady. the car seat was totally unsafe, no seat belt holders for the shoulder belt and if you want to put your young child's life in danger then go ahead book thru her. for you sensible people out there go europcar from the reps. i wish i did cos i wouldn't have had such a bad experience. oh, by the way just to reitterate this lady, no person cos thats an insult to a lady , she has nothing to do with the hotel. she only "rents" space from bbe. i complained to spiros the manager at bbe and he couldn't have been more helpful about this person playing with your children's life.

so take my advice don't go near her no matter the "deal" she is offering you.

to end with, cos you are probably bored to death with this report, we would return to bbe without a doubt as the service was 110% from everybody.

rokas, bbe a huge and almighty thank you for a wonderful holiday. we will return.
p.s. except the girl at the car hire desk. here's your overall result.....-110%

The Blue Bay was spotless both inside the apartments and common areas and outside on the paths, gardens, pool and pool bar areas. Its difficult to see how cleanliness can be bettered.
The food was tasty and sometimes delicious and the range of choice was wide enough to ensure everyone was happy. There was the occasional misinterpretation of something English - the mashed potato, for example, was inedible sloppy Smash - but there were plenty of alternatives. And they will accommodate special requests - an Indian lass was missing her mum's curry so they laid on a curry night just for her.
Location - with 2 teenagers in tow we could have done with being a bit nearer some nightlife and we wished we could have been in Acharavi or Kasiopi when Greece won Euro 2004 - the celebrations were something else - we were told. But, we had a coach back to the airport next morning so missed out - shucks. Our apartments were at the bottom of the hill overlooking the pool and the sea - couldn't have wished for a better view: pool, beaches, sea and the mountainous Albanian coastline in the distance. But the downside was the distance from reception and having to haul luggage up there to go home. On arrival our luggage was taken to our aparments for us - great service.
The staff were extremely helpful and would bend over backwards to help - I phoned them a few days before we set out to ask for a bottle of wine and some chocolates and a card in our room as an aniversary surprise. It worked and made for a good start to the holiday.
The entertainment - generally we escaped but we did hang around for the Greek Folk Dancing - Morris Dancers in skirts - but it gives you an idea of a bit of the culture. I've seen the word 'Butlins' on other reports but that is not fair really as holiday camps are much bigger and - from a very distant memory - far less regimented. Without local discos, nightclubs etc they have to try and appeal to as many as possible and especially those with small children. Although it did not concern us it seemed that the kids were well catered for and the teenagers were encouraged to play water 'polo', basketball etc - great fun and got them mixing and making friends.
I would have no hestitation about going back again although I prefer to go to different places.

The Blue Bay Escape resort is located in a seemingly idyllic location, and durning our week there we didn't have one spot of dull weather. The entrance lobby is immaculate. There is a bar here which serves drinks until 1am, and there are leather sofas (which idiot said they were plastic!?) After passing through the entrance, there is a path along which musical plastic rocks are scattered. This path branches off on on either side to the rooms. The rooms are collectively themed from the James Bond Movies, and the directional sign to "Pussy Galore" seemed to provide several like-minded tourists with a few laughs and snapshots. The room was immaculate with a balcony view, hairdryer, microwave for the self-catering people and a TV. Although the channels are limited, who actually goes on holiday to watch TV anyway? There is a music channel which is good to get ready to go out to, and one evening after returning back to the room, we switched on the TV, only to find one of its nightly hardcore porn-fests... Yeah!!! (be careful parents!) We mus add that the daily maid service was brilliant, allowing us to have a carefree holiday so thanks to them.

From the pool and bar area the mountains of Albania are visible (a lovely sight) and the beach is directly behind all this, but once again, while a seemingly picturesque location, the BBE resort is a little secluded. While a week was a perfect amount of time to relax, by the end of the week we were both ready to go home, aggreeing that two weeks there would have left us, literally, wanting to "escape" the Blue Bay. At times, the place did feel a little like Boot Camp. Of course, the location is nice, but outside of that, there isn't really too much on offer. We did get on the bus to go to the boring Acharavi one evening, and the local bar valentino's was excellent. It is only around the corner from the BBE (one of the very few bars) and we were made to feel welcome (free alcohol and mosquioto-repelling candles) during the later-stage games of Euro 2004. The Blue Bay escape resort itself has horrific evening entertainment. Of course the entertainers tried their hardest, but there is a duo called "Impulse" who made us both cringe. Most people who we spoke to about them felt the same also. He had a good voice, however she was 'karaoke' with no soul and no presence, and it wouldn't have been bad as a one-off show... they were on every damn night! If you didn't like them (as most didn't), then you were left stuck for entartainment. There were some evenings wherby Impulse were just a prelude to the entertainment (dancing, karaoke etc.) but once again, these were tiresome and in need of serious revamping. On a side note, someone needs to buy them some equipment, the microphones and speakers kept packing in...

The food was quite good: We woke up to a full English (not too bad) and then had snacks (hot dogs, pizza, ice-cream, burgers all available during the day before a hot meal in the evening. Amy and I don't mind foreign food, but if you are a bit like my Dad ("garlic bread? Oh I hate that foreign muck!") then you'll probably have more pleasure from the kids' menu. We did meet a couple who were self-catering, and because the place is so secluded, they often had difficulty eating, or had to pay for a blue wrist band on a rather expensive daily basis. In brief, don't go self catering! Even if you don't eat a lot, it's worth it just for the unlimited drinks.

Overall, I may sound like I have had a little nag here. For families, the holiday is a corker; great weather, good food, clean accomodation, friendly staff (apart form the rather rude manager with the dodgy beard who wanted to know why Amy wanted 4 drinks for us both and not two) and some entartainment such as a kids club and soccer school. I would recommend this to the family, but not necessarily to a couple looking for an action packed week. While Amy and I had the chance to relax, visit the Aqualand water park, catch some rays and generally have some quality time together, a week was just enough to stop us from escaping the Blue Bay.

The BBE would be a good resort if only it was a little closer to something other than a beach!!

Cleanliness was second to none with a fantastic maid service, really cant fault this.

The hotel reception staff were quite good although not all relevant info was provided such as what EXACTLY is included on all-inclusive.

Entertainment....well where do i start? it was good if you enjoy making fun of the bad singing/equipment/play-list/costumes/dancing/ability

I would not visit this resort again as it was too far away from anywhere really. The courtesy bus was always booked days in advance. the bus to acharavi only ran once a day, pathetic!

There is one shop on the site which as you may expect isnt really value for money, although there is another shop at the entrance to the entrance zone.

We stayed in an apartment near the main building and it was a trek to reach the pool, although having our rooms on top of the pool as some were wouldnt have been very peaceful.

The barstaff were downright rude in the main bar, we went fully inclusive on the last day at a price of 30 euros each, we asked for two whisky coffee's and they wanted to charge us 10 euros'...i told him to take them away and bring us two coffee's and two shots of whiskey which were included under the wristband! only local produce and draught are allowed on inclusive rates.

The wristband itself is terribly uncomfortable and scratched us both terribly, i removed my red one on day one after cutting my fiance' terribly.

Dont use the rep's recomendations of car hire as you will get stung.

As for the reps....most were freindly and fun although there was a dragon of a woman who wasnt afraid of telling you her own opinion. I asked for the nearest motorcycle rental shop as i ride bikes at home and she wouldnt tell me, going on to tell me what i could and couldnt hire....Grrrrr.

The local taxi drivers tarrif changes as they see fit, even they said the resort was getting quieter by the year and the locals have nicknamed it the camp!!

As i said we went fully inclusive on the last day, so to get our monies worth we went to breakfast...never again.
Chipolata sausages, strips of fatty bacon, hard beans,no tomatoes..disgusting.

The main meal that afternoon you wouldnt expect at a transport cafe let alone a 4*resort!!!

The only reason we went to the BBE was the price,

When we arrived at the hotel we got what we expected, on first immpressions a typical First Choice family friendly complex in the middle of know where. Which to be honest with 2 children under 4 was what we were looking for.

We were checked in quickly and left our bags with the porter who delivered them later. Very useful when you have 2 small children in tow.

We found the apartment easily. It was very spacious and exactly as the brochure discribed. View was fab over looking the sea from a small balcony. Had a couple of problems which were rectified quickly after a quick phone call. TV is very limited with the usual news and music. Nothing for the kids if and when it rains, luckily only had 1 bad day, but as the entertainment area's are outside and there is nothing near you need ways to occupy the little people.

Kids club was ok, but never started on time and some of the staff seemed very inexperienced. The kids club was the main reason we travelled with First Choice as the kid's loved it the previous year. Unfortunately it is not to the standard at all resorts.

All of the hotel area's were very clean with a cleaning team working all through the day.

Pool was fine we stayed at the kid's pool most of the time and they loved it. No minor or major incidents at all. You do have to get up early to get a lounger which was no ideal but funny, but let's face it don't you always.

Food in the restaurant was fine with a good variety, and the chef's do seem to take pride in what they are doing. But I have to agree by the second week you could guess what was going to be on the menu.

Lunch by the pool was standard and the little Kebab man in great. We found the Greek staff very friendly to say they work such long hours, much friendlier than the reps, which is unusual.

If you go out of the hotel back gates there is a lovely little cove beach that is great for kids, very calm and reasonably shallow.

Bar service is slow but not annoyingly so, so no complaints there and if you are on All Inc you need to like spirits or weak lager, but didn't have to spend a penny so again no complaints.

Hotel entertainment is dire! More dire than anything we have ever experienced...ever. The main area for entertainment backs onto the deep end of the pool so you have to keep you eye on the children constantly. We only went to this area twice once there was a women sat playing an ecoustic guitar, not that we have anything against guitars but meloncoly tunes are not what you want on holiday. The next time was Bingo, Bingo is a big.. big part of the entertainment schedule fine if you want that twice a night every night. Bit of variety would have been nice.
