Just returned from Sensatori having booked last August from Thomsons original brochure containing their somewhat over hyped promotion of what is, in our opinion, essentially a good 4* hotel not a 5* deluxe. We didn't see the Sensatori as a

we have just returned from caldera palace otherwise known as sensatori crete, and i have to say after reading trip advisor prior to travel, i was a little alarmed but it actually turned out to be a fantastic stay !! there are a few minor problems but nothing that cant be fixed over the next few months i do have to say that i was a little annoyed as we did book a sea view room and didnt get one but taken this into account the holiday overall was terrific!! great entertainment and great food !! the variety is out of this world and they seem to cater for everyone.
i have a little boy of 7 and it seemed there was lots to keep him occupied from kids club to football with the reebok coaches nothing was too much trouble !! i do think the floors are accidents waiting to happen (especially the poolside)all around the floors are made out of marble and there were so many people tripping and falling somebody different each day had a bandage during my 2 week stay !! all said nothing that cant be fixed in time for next season!!! we visited water park plus during our stay and we had a great day out and the highlight for my little boy was meeting strike off britains got talent and meeting some great friends!!! the cleaners were very good every day the room was cleaned and i would give 5 STARS i do think the passengers staying here would benefit from this being all inclusive as drinks can tend to get a bit expensive of a evening!! especially as its a no cash policy so it would be easy to lose count on what your spending!! as parents we enjoyed the comedy shows on a monday night whilst our little boy was having fun in kids club !! i would like to try the hotel in mexico that is currently or close to be being built as i like to try different locations each year other than that we really enjoyed our stay here!!!

Had a fantastic holiday at Sensatori. My husband, 17 year old son and myself. We loved it. Had read the trip advisor reports with people cancelling and complaining even before they had travelled so even though we would not have cancelled, we were apprehensive. But from the moment we got there we felt comfortable and relaxed. We had booked a suite with private pool and it was wonderful. I was a little concerned a first as our son, all 6ft 4in of him was sleeping on a camp bed while we were in a separate bedroom with a extra large king size bed. But he was fine and slept like a top. He said it was very comfortable and he had no complaints. The balcony was huge and having our own sunbeds and pool absolute luxury,
We spent most of our days going for walks around the village, watching the world go by and relaxing by our pool whilst our son took part in many of the activities on offer and made plenty of friends to spend his evenings with in the bar across the street. We only saw him as we went down to breakfast and then when he came to get showered for his evening meal he had such a good time.
The food was fantastic but the staff were a little slow to clear the tables between courses.
We hired a car for a couple of days and visited Aghios Nikolaos'elounda and Plaka one day and a lovely little coastal village recommended by the car hire rep in the hotel, a lovely lady, called Mochlos passed Ag Nik off the coast road on the way to Sitea. We had lunch here by the water. You just have to remember there is no rush here and everything is done slowly.
The hotel also do a lovely packed lunch, plenty to eat.
We didn.t watch much entertainment in the hotel but our son said the bits he watched were O.K.
Regarding sunbeds. We didn't need any ourselves but we ate our breakfast down at the adults only taverna (lovely and peaceful) and walked by one of the pools to get there. Usually the sunbeds were all taken by 9am. At least there were towels on them, not so many people! Our son always went by the pools but his friends usually shared.
We paid our bar bill etc. every couple of days so we could keep a check on it. You don't have to wait while the end of your holiday.
They had just started hotel check in for the airport when we left which was so easy and stress free. Heraklion airport is a nightmare.
We loved this holiday. We could't fault the hotel or resort. On being asked our son said it 'had been would of the best holidays ever, in fact the best'. And at 17 he can be quite critical. we would all go back tommorrow (If we could afford it!)

The hotel rooms for families are really good, but don't have enough storage space. Room facilities good, with fantastic bathroom, but would expect little extras like tissues and flannels in a 5* hotel(which this is not when compared to others we have been to). We had a fantastic view of the sea, but other rooms had horrible outlooks such as the waste bins. If we go cabk I would definately go for a swim up room.

The restaurants are a bit hit and miss. The main one is overcrowded with slow service due to not enough staff. The service is poor at best and we ended up having to get our own cutlery at times as the staff were too busy. The staff were very friendly and tried their best. Some lacked fairly basic knowledge of how to lay a table and serve people without leaning all over them. Most certainly NOT 5*. If you are lucky you might get a second drink. This lets the hotel down badly. The other restaurants are good, although the greek one is no more than a barbeque which ran out of some things by 8.00 one evening. The stones resaturant was a fantastic experience even for the kids. In general, the hotel food is good, hot and hot.

The pools are numerous but very crowded. It was impossible to get sunbeds on many days as there were not enough, or they were broken. Many sunbeds had towels left on them for a lot of the day, but the guests turned up in the afternoon. The pool areas are quite dangerous, so take care. Even away from the pools people were slipping up all the time.

The beach is Ok, but the red flag was flying most of the 2 weeks we were there. It is not a sandy beach, more grit and gravel. The sea is full of rocks, so I suggest you wear some form of footwear in the water.

The entertainment was very good, but there are not enough seats to sit and watch. Many people went back to their rooms as you had to stand unless you were there early.

The internet room system didn't work the whole holiday, so don't expect to be able to check in regularly. The replacement put out by the hotel in reception didn't work much of the time either.

Sports facilities brilliant. We did archery, played tennis and my son had the football lessons. There were many other things to do as well. Here the staff were great.

Would I go back - yes if they sort out the dangerous grounds and the restaurants.

Classed as a 5* hotel!!! Maybe for the cockroaches our daughters had in their room. Told the reception staff, was told that they had 300 people checking in in an hour. We wondered if they wanted us to go back and complain then???!!! We then told the maid who then provided us with 'fly spray' after much muttering in Greek.( I Think) She couldn't understand a word. We never ventured out to the main pools as they were far too busy. We took a 10 year old who thought there were too many little children running amock. Never saw them with any adults. Entertainment every night but admittedly usually singing, but was still good. We didn't enjoy it as much as we had read we should have done. The sunbed issues still rumble on. Hotels should not have 400 rooms if they don't have enough sunbeds to go round.

We booked this hotel for our anniversary and wished we hadn't. It is definately not a 5 star plus. The accommodation and grounds are nice, although not completely finished and all floor areas are dangerous. From the supposedly 'welcome' meeting, just a 10 minute talk about meal times and the kids club, to the disaster with cases being collected at the end of the holiday, every experience was very disaapointing. The food was a poor quality with staff in the restaurant rood, getting drinks orders wrong and not clearing tables, dropping plates and arguing amongst themselves. We went to the Thai restaurant for our anniversary and the food was so bad we had to leave and eat at a nearby taverna. The adults pool is a paddling pool. We had a problem with the toilet and someone came to drill a hole in the floor to let the water into the room below. The few english staff did not want to assist with any concerns and provided no information about our holiday. We are very dissapointed.

we were very disappointed in this so called 5star resort. 5star accomodation but certainly not 5star service.
there seemed to be more children than adults and they were allowed to shout and scream and run around into the late hours of the night. the so called recommended for adults pool had more children than adults again, with who had the biggest floating boat, aeroplane,or alligator in the pool with very little room to swim and certainly no peace and quiet for couples to enjoy.
entertainment left a lot to be desired, was a bit like the red coats from butlins as it seemed to be all sensatori staff doing different entertainment.
food certainly very repetitive again with children no matter which restaurant or sitting you went to.
this resort opened at least 6months too early which was very obvious.
this resort is no more than a 5star butlins on a good day.

This hotel is barely a 4 star hotel. Rooms were clean pools were not. Tiled floors dangerous due to constant water everywhere. Adult only pool a joke 0.75 metres all round no showers.

Food cold and repetetive and try to book meal early or you will only have one restaurant to choose from, only one beer and wine included.

Beach is dirty and shingle not what all the hype says. Building work going on constantly around the hotel grounds.

New staff can barely understand English certanly not 5 star trained.

Bar prices expensive and short measures.

Hotel entertainment is amateurish to say the least, reps walking round like headless chickens saying 'were making it up as go along' is not good enough when youre paying top prices.

No information on paper about the local area.

We were very disappointed in what the brochure said not a 5* at all more like a 2* the rooms were clean but we had to ask for our sheets to be change as they had not been chaged for 4 days when we thouhgt thy had they just changed them over so we complained again we had to put our rubbish bins in the middle of the floor as they were not emptyed for 2 days we did not have clean towles for 2 days they we so wet we had to use the pool towles, the food was cold and they had the same sweet and sour pork 3 days running when I spoke to a manager he just look at me said nothing.the staff most of them could not speak english and did not understand what you were asking them for so they just walked away. The bar was expensive,me husband had his medication taken from our room and when we reported it to your reps all we got from them was we cannot belive that. The adult pool was a joke it came up to our knees the chidrens pool was so deep. The Thai restaurant was so bad the food was the same for a starter as it was a main meal. All in not very good at all will not be going back there again.
