On arrival in the early hours of Sunday morning we were given a room in the new block (B). The beds were very low to the floor with 1 sheet and 1 pillow (both very thin)and the room had a slight smell of stale tobacco. At that time of the morning, all we wanted to do was sleep. The hotel was very quiet and we had no problem. Next day we found extra pillows and a couple of blankets which were adequate as the weather was so hot even at night. Also with the balcony door open it didn't take long to air the room to get rid of the smell. The oven and the fridge didn't work and rather than replace them, the hotel had just left them in situ and put working appliances in the kitchen as well which took up valuable space. We also requested that the Air Con in our room be switched on (extra charge which we didn't mind too much as we had originally been told that there was no Air Con at the hotel). During our weeks stay, no one ever came to activate it although we didn't ask again. On the whole, we had no major problems with anything at the Anastasia. The staff were as friendly and polite as to be expected but not more so, the cleanliness and facilties at the hotel were adequate but not great. So; we would neither recommend for or against the Anastasia. It was a reasonable base for our holiday. No More, No Less.

This was our first holiday as a couple. The room we were given was very good by Greek standards. This room was situated in the new part of the hotel. At the end of our stay we paid for a courtesy room in the old part of the hotel. 35 Euros. No kettle, no room to swing a cat. If we had been given one of these rooms we would have complained seriously. The cleaning staff very polite and friendly. We met some very nice Swedish and Dutch people that were adjacent to our apartment. The oven door was broken but we managed to use it on one occasion. We were told by a Greek restauranter that this year not many English people had visited Koss maybe because of the Euro devaluing, or because she informed us that the Greek authorities want all hotels to change to all inclusive which would mean that the small businesses would eventually go out of business. She was very worried about her and her parents future.

As a party of five we knew we would be placed in two rooms. What we did not know was that these rooms would be at opposite ends of the buildings. We were able to shout across the balconies to each other, but this was not really a viable option. The purpose built self catering flats were fine with adequate facilities. However three of the party of five were roomed in the old hotel block. This was two twin bedded rooms one with a tiolet/shower room. The self catering facilities were a fridge two cooking rings that didn't work and a kettle, there was only one electrical socket meaning you could not use the rings and kettle at the same time. This was housed beside the toilet and ment one of the party was disturbed if anyone wanted a cuppa, or the loo. The tiolet and shower was inadequate with the cistern running all the time, no shower curtain or holder for the shower head, ment the place was constatly swimming in water and very slippy, and one neeeded to be a contortionist to shower and wash ones hair. Again this was located in the main bedroom. The beds were only about 12 inches off the floor and very dificult to get out of.

The outlook from the balconies fared no better with a building site and main road to the left and waste ground and tip right underneath the balconies.

We had arrived at 4 in the morning and were split to the two buildings. Block b the self catering section had a lift which worked on the odd occasion but Block A consisted of a spiral marble staircase and we were on the 3rd floor. There were automatic stair lights which were timed to go out just as one was mid -flight. Extremely dangerous. There were no porters around and no one to help three youthful but 50-60ish age groups lug our luggage to our rooms.

Complaints to the management were responed with a shrug of the shoulders and a 'perhaps next week you can be moved', First Choice were no better.

The pool was not quite as the first choice brochure had shown and the sun beds were so old and dirty, they were quite off putting.

As our home flight was in the middle of the night we requested that we keep at least on room on and of course we prepared to pay. This was not acceptable to management, however the did allow us to rent a bedroom in another part of the hotel for 35 euros for the night. This room was so tiny it was unbelievable and the smell from the drains was overpowering. What a rip off.

As seasoned travellers we only look for a comfortable clean apartment. We spend most of our days and nights at the beach or in town but in all the years we have been holidaying this was by far the most disappointing of accommodations.

Do think carefully about this Hotel/apartment if offered.

We stopped in the hotel, small rooms, some a bit noisy, not a problem to us, when balcony door shut it went away.So clean and that is what worries me, dont spend long in a room.

Betty receptionist is lovely and a laugh,Julie at bar is also very nice all staff very nice and friendly, clean pool and the area, breakfast room, clean and a nice continental breakfast.

Hotel seemed very friendly and people go back so that says something.

It is in a lovely position not far to walk to beach or harbour or into the square, perfect position we thought.

Wish I was still there ,we have been back a week, the Island is lovely and easy to get around from Kos bus station. Yes I would go back to Anastasia, nice clean and friendly.

Arrived to find the smallest room ever 9 feet by 12 feet for 3 fullsized beds and furniture and nowhere for cases and clothes.Had to keep them on the balcony!.

Great start.Rooms at front of the hotel on the main road so noisey hardly slept a wink .Had to be moved to the back of the hotel which is so much quieter.

Hotel is basic but very clean ,maids in every day. Staff always very helpful and polite,Pool was always spotless although very busy. This hotel is more for younger people but there was mixed ages.

Only 5 minutes walk from the harbour. Pictures in brochure show self catering side not the old hotel side. Would go back but not to the hotel side.

I read some reviews about this hotel before we travelled and wanted to cancel but I'm glad we didn't!

The hotel is about 10-15 minutes walk from main Kos Town and about the same to the beach (which is shingle). The most direct route is out of the back of the hotel.

The main areas of the hotel were very clean. Our room was cleaned 6 days a week although sometimes it wasn't finished until around 4.00 in the afternoon. Beds were made every day and sheets and towels were changed 2/3 times a week.

The rooms aren't huge but were plenty big enough for 2 of us. We didn't go on holiday to spend the whole time sat in the room anyway!

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was OK - bread, cold meats, cheese, jam, honey, cake, cornflakes, etc, etc. The bread was always fresh despite comments on other sites!

There is a coffee bar at the rear of the hotel selling lovely cakes and cookies, etc. You should definitely go! We didn't find it until our last day which was a shame.

Other than that we didn't eat at the hotel as we walked into the town every night.

The pool was good, clean and safe.

There was no entertainment (thank God!) other than the radio on all day by the poolside bar - not so loud that it wasn't a nuisance though!

There were plenty of people with young children who all seemed happy enough! There were also quite a few 'young adults' who were all well behaved although a little noisy at times but this didn't really bother us. There was a mix of people from all over Europe, not mainly English.

We paid for a cheap 3* holiday and that's what we got. I would stay at this hotel again but probably wouldn't go out of my way to do so. If I was looking for a last minute holiday and saw it on offer for the right price I wouldn't hesitate.
