The resort cleanliness was typical of Greece, basically good but untidy. Resort entertainment very low key which suited ourselves, nice Bars playing good music but could still chat with new made friends.

Beach standard very good,Koukounaries a little crowded for our liking, but nearby Mandraki,Eleni,Banana less crowded,Mandraki in particular was breathtaking.

The resort we would visit again, but not Amalia, needed a holiday from music afterwards, just to say we are music lovers but not of the kind George was playing,Slim Shady, and heavy rock.

We were told towards the end of the holiday by a Greek person, that if we had been to the Tourist Police they would have done something about this, but by this time it was too late, our Holiday was spoilt. Be Warned.

Don't worry about hiring a car for the duration of your holiday, you won't need it. The buses are extremely regular along the one main road, although sometimes you may need to see a bus pass you by full, it's not long before another comes along. If you want to check out the backwaters, I would recommend a jeep!
The people of Skiathos are absolutely lovely. The food, particularly in the many and varied restaurants of Skiathos Town is fantastic. We particularly enjoyed sitting by the marina, with the spit roasted meats and salads, or to the fabulous italian (don't sit for just a drink, it's too popular for dining for them to allow it).
The beaches are pristine, and on the south of the island, the Aegean was as flat as a millpond, with gently sloping sand, ideal for the kids, whilst to the north, the sea has strong waves.
This is not a night clubby place, but if you're wanting a chill out relaxing holiday don't hesitate to book, just choose your accommodation wisely!

With only one road in and out of town Koukounaries is a great family resort. Don't visit if you want clubs and hectic nightlife - there are just bars and tavernas and familes! The beach is well maintained but busy in peak season with lots of water sports on offer. Behind the beach is a lagoon surrounded by pine and olive trees - very pretty. The bus service runs every 15 mins along the coast road to Skiathos Town and costs 1.40euros per adult - but expect to stand like sardines at peak times when the beach empties. The restaurants and Taverna's are great for families with most offering to bring childrens food quickly and serve the adults at a more lesiurely pace. For an icecream treat try The Village Special at The Village Restaurant - sparklers and fancy trims!

The best beaches are all in walking distance of the resort. Plenty of tavernas and a couple of bars. Overall very laid back resort with stunning scenery around you wherever you stay. If you need something more lively get the bus into town.

Skiathos is a place you must go to admire it's beauty. The landing at the airport is a bit hairy though!

Not much I can stay, as there was nothing near the hotel beach was ok not the best in Europe as some might say?

Stay in Skiathos town and travel to beaches not the other way around or expect to pay half your monies in travel taxis buses.

We found that Koukanaries offered all we needed for our holiday. There are so many beautiful beaches within anything from a 15- 40 minute walk. There are many Taverna's and bars so you do not need to go to town if you don't want to, but the town is less than 30mins on the frequent bus service.

The resort is clean, with an unspoilt feel about it. Very friendly. I personally believe that this resort offers the best of Skiathos, even in July the evenings were not too busy with crowds on the pavements. An array of !st class beaches, lots of choices in the Taverna's from Greek to Indian and Chinese

You make your own fun with family and friends....Perfect.

Koukounaris beach is local and on the flat. There are other beaches (Banana or Abelakia) which are quiter and nicer but involve traversing a rough track (Banana) or 98 steps (Abelakia) and quite steep hills. The restaurants are very good. All the hotels have restaurants attached as well. Ideal for the bus as the terminus is at Koukounaris so you can always get a seat. The fare is 1 euro 20 cents which is very reasonable. It takes about 30 minutes to Skiathos town where there are lovely shops, restaurants and the harbour.
