The holiday had been prepared using direct / separate bookings for hotel, flight and transfers.

We traveled to Majorca with Thomsonfly from Coventry and were met by a taxi from MCA Travel.

We would like to take this opportunity to point out that 1 person in our party is wheel chair bound.

The taxi cost 190 Euros return and was a minibus, which catered for the 4 adults, 1 child and 1 wheelchair.

Other than a delay in the transfer to the hotel, due to an accident, the journeys were uneventful.

We arrived at the hotel and entered the Chihuahuas section of the hotel.

Upon arrival we were advised we were staying in the Mastines hotel, and we were about to proceed to this hotel, when we were asked to pay for the two rooms for 14 nights in advance.

At this point, sight of our rooms was requested, to which the rude check in staff advised that it was their policy to ensure rooms are paid for prior to entrance by their guests.

We found this farcical, as we had given our credit card number over the internet to make the booking and here we were being asked to pay for these rooms in full without even seeing them!

We were then handed a credit card slip, which clearly stated

We stayed in the Chihauhaus on a half board basis for 2 weeks through Travel City Direct. We only booked the holiday 2 weeks prior to departure and as we had never been to this hotel before we did not know what to expect. As we and another couple were the only ones going to that side of the island a comfortable taxi took us to our hotel. We had an excellent time. We had decided beforehand that we wanted to be able to relax and chill out and that is what we did. Our 19 year old special needs son Richard came with us and he joined in most of the activities that took part during the day, which were arranged by a hard working entertainments team.

We found the rooms to be clean and spacious and the views to die for. The ceiling fan was good but air conditioning would have been much better.

It must be hard to cater for a large amount of people, not knowing exactly what time they were going to eat, thankfully the microwaves were to hand to top up the temperature of the food. The quality of food was good but after two weeks did become predictable.

We found the staff to be helpfull and friendly. Especially when a cockroach was found up a pillar in the Ascot bar one evening. They were quick to respond when I asked at the reception desk for it to be removed. That was entertaining in itself.

Having spoken to various people over the two weeks, the hotel must be doing it right as quite a large number return more than once.

My Husband and I stayed in the Chihuahua hotel between 23 and 30 July 05.

Our room was located on the 7th floor and after waiting an age for the lift we eventually found our room. The room was a good size but extremely sparse. As there was no air-conditioning it was extremely uncomfortable and the ceiling fan did little other than annoy us as it was very noisy. The view from the balcony however was wonderful - nothing but clear blue sea and skies. The room would have benefited from tea/coffee making facilities and perhaps a radio.

We have stayed in many 3 star hotels and this particular hotel was not worthy of such award. We would grade it 1/2 stars and that would be generous. The decor and furnishings may have been en vogue 30 years ago (perhaps it's now regarded as retro!).

The food in the restaurant was edible but the menu became repetitive (dinner vegetables such as green beans made a reappearance at breakfast the following morning).

Although all public areas of the hotel were supposed to be air-conditioned this wasn't the case unless the term is to be taken literally (every window on every floor was wide open and these were big windows waist-height! This is not safe especially for families with children so if you are considering staying at this hotel, request ground floor accommodation!

The evening entertainment was a joke! You have to laugh or else you'll cry.

On a more positive note, the swimming pools are kept clean and the gardens are quite nice.

I have visited this hotel around 8 times. It is set in a breathtaking location with every room having a stunning sea view.

The hotel is clean and the staff very friendly. The resort is excellent for couples and young families, however it maybe a little quiet the party animals among you,(not the sort of place for a hen or stag do).

I would highly recomend a holiday at this hotel.

Me and my boyfriend had an excellent holiday at these lovely resort.

The swimming pools are great, the main one being the biggest swimming I have ever seen.

Had a beautiful view of the sea out of our window and woke to the sunset every morning (well, only me I am an early bird)

There is a tiny supermarket next to the hotel and a few shops.

There are numerous 'cove' beaches which are lovely and not too far away from the hotel. It is a lovely walk along to the beaches with the sea one side and the hotels the other.

Very nice quiet part of Majorca, no thugs or drunk groups! So we enjoyed it!

Nice shops too and places to eat!

Had a lovely time and I would advise anyone who wants to go for a relaxing holiday set in a great environment!

Enjoy

Really enjoyed our stay here, great views, great food and nice rooms. The only thing i would say, it needed a fridge(which you can pay for one for the week).
I will say the entertainment was pretty poor, but it was so bad you had to laugh.

I travelled to this hotel with my husband,3 year old daughter and 1 year old son.My first impression of the hotel was it's cleanliness and the friendliness of the staff. The hotel was a little dated but was very spacious and welcoming.

The restaurant was well laid out and had a good choice of food. I must be honest and say i did struggle with my daughter at meal times and found little that would appetise her but she can be a fussy eater and the likes of pasta, pizza, chips and fish never appeals to her. But we managed with a bit of bribery, the rest of the family enjoyed our meals.

The location of the hotel was on the quiter end or the resort but it was a nice stroll in to the heart of it and on those lazy nights there is a little train which stops out side the hotel.

The staff were all very friendly and efficent and thought the entertainment very good with plenty of activitys in the day available.

The food in the hotel was edible but not brilliant, and the tables were rarely cleared in time.

The hotel was immaculate, and the childrens pool was emptied and cleaned daily. Our room was made, and we had clean towels every day.

The hotel is in a quiet location, but ideal for families with young children.

All of the staff were friendly and helpful, although the entertainment was poor as it was mainly the childrens reps doing the entertaining, and the horror show was inappropriate for children (my two ages 2 & 7 were in tears).
The kids clubs were brilliant, there is even a club from age 0-4yrs.

We did enjoy our holiday, and would probably return if the food is improved.

We stayed in the Chihuahuas hotel.

We had a large family room (2 single beds and 2 single beds) on floor 6, overlooking the freeform pool, and giving a wonderfull view of the sea.
The rooms were clean and fresh towells were provided if you left the used ones on the floor (then they knew they needed changing).
beds were made and the room cleaned daily.

Hire a safe and a fridge is a must, we saved a fortune on bying drinks for the poolside / beach this way. Also keep your aftersun in the fridge, its a real treat !

Temperatures were in the 30's, and the one ceiling fan in the room only benifits the person lying directly beneath it. It would be far too hot come July/August.
Air conditioning in rooms is sorely needed.

Also the air conditioning in public rooms that was promised was almost non existant. Towards the end of the holiday they provided a few fans in the bar area (Chihuahuas), but it was still far too hot.

There are two swimming pools, one freeform (and the nicest) and a rectangle one. these are quite deep (im 5ft 7in, and the shallow end came to my armpits.) the deepest end is about 9 ft. However both my kids enjoyed the pool, one can swim, and the other used armbands.
There are 2 baby pools also.
There are plenty of free sunbeds to go around.
Poolside toilets are situated by the playground next to the freeform pool (in the Mastines hotel).

Buy your inflatables at the hotel shop, a giant tyre cost us under 4 euros (about

We have just stayed 2 weeks at the Sol Chihuahuas returning on the 9 July 2005. We were a party of 2 adults and 4 children aged 5,10,12,13 years. We booked this hotel due to kids clubs and entertainment.

The hotel rooms were very spacious and bright and had a lovely view of the sea, pool and grounds. They did not have air conditioning however we found the ceiling fan to be just fine. The maids came in every day and did a good job, as previously mentioned they changed the towels if you left them by the door on the floor. We hired a safety deposit box at the cost of 3 euros per day. We also hired a fridge at a cost of 3E per day. This was very useful as we found with having four children that the drinks round the pool were quite pricey. The shop within the hotel sells paper cups for 40cents for about 10, so we used to take a bottle of pop to the pool and use the cups. Lots of people did this and the staff never said anything.

The kids clubs we did not feel were very safe for the younger ones and would not recommend them for any child under 8 years unless you are going to stay with them. They have 4 different age groups. 0-4 years, 5-7 years, 8-13 years and 14-17 years, and then the adult groups. The clubs run every day except Sunday and are free. They operate from 10.30am - 1pm and 3pm-5pm. When we took our youngest child who is only five we signed him in only by name, age and room number and then you were expected to leave them. Since they were not staying in the room I did not feel comfortable with this especially since the ratio was not very good. They did various activities with them from shuffleboard to water polo? Most of the 4, 5, 6 years would not be able to swim. The sports pool they used was not shallow enough for someone of this age group to stand up in. I went with my son to the shuffleboard morning, (I was surprised however that I was the only parent staying with their child!) The kid
