We enjoyed our holiday the staff both hotel and Thompsons were helpful, the hotel was clean, the food was good, although the stair carpets were still threadbare.

Our room was at the back overlooking the pool and refuse bin area, and every morning at approximately 0130 we were awakened by the noise of refuse containers full of bottles being emptied into a refuse lorry this generally lasted about 10-15 minutes, which for some people is enough to ruin a nights sleep, and it certainly took the edge of our holiday, it would appear ( according to the Thompson rep ) that little can be done as it is entirely at the discretion of the local council when the bins are emptied. Although one would think that an island that relies on Tourism for its livelyhood would do something to help it tourist to a good nignt sleep.

Some 50% of the rooms are at the back.

This was our second visit to this hotel and we were very pleased to find that the standard had remained the same as two years ago. The food choices were excellent. The standard of cleanliness is first class and the entertainment was too. Next year the bus service in the resort is widening its' scope to take in a few more resorts for those of us who wish to take in more of the islands beautiful sights. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a good quality hotel in a very picturesque resort.

All the staff were helpful and cheerful. Area around the pool was very good although I feel that you would be pushed for space in high season.

Upgrading the room to sea view etc was a good idea.

Standard of the hotel was well worth the three star rating granting.

Organised activities were organised with enthusiasm- but you were not pushed to take part

With Thomson you do get what they tell you- a good holiday on a lovely island

We have just returned from oour holiday at the Castell Playa.

The food and service in the dining room was first class.

We never had any trouble finding a table.

We used to go down late for both meals....9.45am for breakfast and 8.45pm for evening meal and you were never rushed. Some nights people were still coming in for evening meal way past 9.00pm and they were still allowed in and not rushed.
We do not nornally like hotel entertainment but the standard was very high, in particular the tributes to The Platters as well as the Megastars (George Michael and Freddie Mercury). The comedian was hilarious and the two "Gold" entertainers Lee and Jen were excellent.

The best thing for us was that we took up the "Optional Drinks Plan" for 175 euros (12.5 euros per person per day) for the week......this worked at at less than

A first class hotel as long as you don't mind being at the top of a very steep hill.
Facilities were brilliant and couldn;t be beaten. Hotel rooms were of high standard with air con, tv, fridge etc. Our room was at back and overlooked pool and countryside - glad we didn't pay extra for sea view as our room had sun all afternoon and evening and we had no noise problems at all.
Food was lovely, excellent choice and more often than not food was hot. Evening entertainment was good, some shows better than others - the comedian was excellent!
About 3 min walk to resort centre downhill and further 5 mins to the excellent beach with white sand and turquise sea. However there was a regular mini buss, free from hotel 6 days a week - very worthwhile going back in mini bus as very hot to be climbing steep hills.
Resort very quiet and we hired car for week to explore Island - would definately recommend.

went in 2nd week of may. first week in hotel there were only 35 guests.

we were in room 214, at back of the hotel. sea view rooms have a lovely view over the bay but rear rooms have the sun on the balcony all day long. i have some excellent sunset photos over the hills taken from balcony.

staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. but it is the start of the season. if they keep up this level of service it be be very impressive.
don't forget Balearic tax when you arrive. safe deposit boxes also available and phones in the hotel lobby.

food was excellent, a buffet style arrangement

Just got back had a fantastic week at the Hotel cannot fault it on anything at all, room great we had a sea view they get the sun first thing until 11 ish then the back rooms get the sun from abou 2 or 3 I think they get the afternoon and evening sun. More than enough sunbeds great with no children running around very civilised, waiters and chamber maids all very friendly happy to chat and very efficient. food excellent most cooked in front of you to order. entertainment good we saw a Beatles tribute band, hypnotist and the Thompson entertainers, small resort few small supermarkets and a handful of gift shops, restaurents and bars, no hassle from PR's or timeshare touts in fact we had no hassle anywhere on the island !! Lovely beach clean azure sea, hired a car for 3 days from the hotel more than adequate to see everything only a small island but do not miss Mont Torro fantastic views, the steps from the beach could be a problem for the less agile to us just like being at home not steps but a steep climb to our local pub and shop ( we live in the Yorkshire Dales) would love to go back again regards Gill

This was a first class hotel. Rooms were very clean and tidy and kept so all week by the cleaners. Half board breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent with plenty of choice all week. The dining room was very clean and the waiters/waitresses all very friendly and helpful.

You have the choice of 1 A La Carte meal per week if you wish. The swimming pool area had plenty of sunbeds and despite of a rush to get the early sun beds, the complete area is out of the shade by late morning and there was always spare sunbeds available. The temperature in the last week of May reached 80 degrees. But drinks are always available from a choice of bars within the hotel. The poolside bar has waiter service all day.

The only negative aspects for us were that the mattresses seemed new and were made from a very tough foam. Not overly comfortable. Also the rooms were quite stuffy even in May and the air conditioning system was fairly noisy, so either way we found it difficult to sleep at times.

The hotel is excellently situated in a resort which is small but not too small with a few bars, restaurants (as if you really need restaurants after those buffets!), Spar supermarkets and gift shops.

The staff at the hotel all work very hard and are always willing to help. There are even staff to open lift doors for you!

A nearby bus stop will take you to Mahon the capital. But services are limited and there was one almighty scramble in Mahon on the way back, even in May! I suggest a taxi or hire car although the bus was cheap and very clean.

Would definately return.
