Don't go. There are much better places to stay in Menorca
The beach is lovely! But stay away from this hotel!

Arenal D'en Castell is very small compared to other resorts we've been to in the past. Only about 3 souvenir shops and two perfume shops - mostly all selling the same thing. A few bars and some nice looking restaurants. We found a nice one on the beach for our lunch which sold all manner of seafood, sandwiches, pizzas, burgers etc.

Coves Noves is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel and has bouncy castles, trampolines and a motorised go-kart type ride for the children. Our son absolutely loved the huge inflatable dinosaur whose mouth you could climb into and then it closed! There a couple of bars here and a chinese restaurant - one bar gives you a full view of the children running around. The play area was 5 euros each for as long as you wanted and they could come and go as many times as they liked throughout the evening. It opened at 6.30pm and shut around 11.30pm. Children enjoyed this place a lot but I was a bit dubious about health and safety as there was little supervision and seemed no limit as to how many children were allowed in. I solved this by sitting at a table with a view and a very tasty jug of sangria - much better than in the hotel and certainly cheaper!

All in all, a great hotel, beautiful beach and fairly quiet but friendly resort. Would come back in a few years and hire a car next time to see more of this very pretty island.

The resort of Arenal D'en Castell is built in a semi circle around the bay and its beach. It is modern, well kept, still being developed and good for all ages. The exception is for the young binge drinkers as they would not have enough bars to visit. This makes it a family resort.
The road plan is such as you cannot get lost. Just below the road level parallel to the beach there are shops, bars, rstaurants. The restaurant nearest the Club Aguamarina Hotel achieves an excellent standard with excellent and friendly service.
Next door round the headland is Na Macaret with three good restaurants on the village square. After three holidays in this area we have grown to love Na Macaret and its individual style of architecture in the centre. The area has begun to expand in terms of villas and apartments. The roads are already there with street lighting as well.
Speaking of roads, for those into car hire, the roads are excellent and driving on the right becomes very easy.
The only missing thing in terms of infrastructure is a corniche. All resorts seem to have individual access from main roads. It just adds to the fuel costs, that's all.

The beach is clean enough apart from the usual abundance of cigarette stubs in the sand. Around the side of the Agua Marina hotel where it meets the beach it is quite a mess with an unpleasant dune area. This needs some landscaping to improve appearances.

I don't use the entertainment facilities so cannot really comment on this. We did hear sounds of karaoke and other typical entertainment activities of a musical nature but everthing seemed quiet by around 11.30pm.

This does not appear to be a particularly serious nightspot for entertainment so may not appeal to younger people.

I would not have any problem about visiting this resort again. I have had two holidays based here in the last six years.

The resort was quite clean, where ever you go it seems we have to contend with litter louts.

There are a couple of of bars open until 4am which we didn't visit. The Good Bridge Cafe, which is also a bar with food did impress me. We spent a couple of evening there and on one occasion a gang of about 10 youths arrived and became rowdy after a while. They were promptly frog marched out by two members of staff.

There is a gently shelving little kids beach in a beautiful cove.

I wouldn't visit the island again but only because life is too short to keep returning to the same place. We were impressed and you can walk about in the evenings. Would recommend Menorca but not the hotel.

The resort was very quiet, not many shops or entertainment but very relaxing, nice walks but loads of hills, the beach was safe and clean.

A small friendly town with very little nightlife, ideal for unwinding in one of the bayside resturants.

The resort was mainly residential. Also it wouldn't be very suitable for people with mobility problems. The beach was lovely but a fair trek down to it.We didn't feel there was enough around the resort for us personally which is the only reason we wouldn't return to this hotel, having visited Menorca before and stayed in the Cala'n Bosch area which we preferred. Also we aren't beachy people so although lovely it was wasted on us as this was the best feature of the resort! We did have a very relaxing holiday which is what we wanted but we wouldn,t go to this area again.

The purpose of the trip that my girlfriend and I undertook was to both have a holiday in the sun, and also to visit her cousin who lives in Menorca. We had asked for recommendations of a quieter type resort. We did not want a resort with Fast Food restaurants or masses of young revellers, but did want there to be some nightlife, restaurants close bye. The cousin lived in the next resort over (45 minutes walk along the cliffs) in Son Parc. We visited Son Parc, which has beach but the complex seems mainly geared around its 14 hole golf course. It has many apartments and duplex (upstairs/downstairs apartments), but was a little too high density for what we were looking for. Son Parc did have one very good restaurant in Halisseys - food and wine selections were excellent (don't come here if you want items such as Burgers or Chicken in a basket). The seafood recipes, steamed fresh veg and deserts were super. Next door to the restaurant is Daniel's Bar, a more sophisticated example. This is ideal for drink after a nice meal. The bar staff here are very nice and the atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant. A taxi back to Arenal should be 15 Euros (it's a bit of a looping road). On the other side was Addaia. This is smaller that Arenal, with only a handful of shops and bars/restaurants in a central area. El Castillo is nice for a drink on the patio. Arenal itself is set around its bay. The beach is fine sand, clean and the water is crystal clear. There are some pedalos for rent. There are several restaurants within the resort, ranging from Chinese, Outback Pub, Pizzeria to a Tex/Mex one with Tapas. The ones that we frequented most we close to the central area and had some more Spanish type dishes on the menu. All tend to be very reasonably priced and food quality is good, especially fresh fish or Menu Del Dia (Menu of the Day) offers. The restaurants are not high-brow, nor are they greasy-spoon. The Irish bar (aka Bar 51 by the locals) is a hot spot - very good live music and craic from the resident guitarist. The tourists tend to disappear after the free Flamenco show performed by a solo Senorita or around 1:00am. The locals then start to appear, and your in for a treat if you like watching salsa dancing / locals relaxing. Apparently the Irish bar can stay open until about 4:00am or 5:00am. Drinks are resonably priced - watch the strength of the locally produced Mahon Gin and it's by-the-eye measures though, as it can be stronger than you are used to. So too is the 5.7% Amstel.
One the way back to our Apartment at Punta Grossa is Mi Pizza. This is a family owned/run place. It's full of charm and a bit slower paced. It is very good fun when the Karaoke is on. There is live music some evenings courtesy of a capable one-man band. Happy Hour 9-10pm. This tends to be patronised by tourists, but is a good stop off point for night cap or coffee. Of course they also serve Pizza. Next door is the local Supermarket for this end of town. It is wells stocked with food, drink and usual holiday items all at good prices. In all there are probably around a dozen restaurants and half dozen bars in Arenal bay area, which can be easily walked from end to end in about 20 minutes. There is a Petit Train for those who prefer to not walk. There are 2 ATM Cash machines in the resort. I would certainly return to Arenal without hesitation.

The resort was beautiful but bit small.

We hired a car for 3 days and it gave us the freedom to explore other resorts.

People were friendly and the local bus services were cheap and good.
