First time here after several visits to Menorca which we love due to lack of idiots (excluding Thomas Cook reps - how some of these breath on nthere own is a wonder to me.

Fantastic resort if you have young kids (12 & under ish)

Fairly straight road with everything at either end or on either side with a fantastic new entertainments square opened (playo domingos)which has several bars and loads of kids stuff etc plus entertainment.

Hot spots for us were:

Food: Los Delfines retaurant, great breakfast and evening meals, forget the supposed English breakies offered by others and go here and get the special which is cheaper and has much more and the place is spotless, say hello to the parrot in the corner which bit my finger and let it know next year I want it in a parrot kebab

Entertainment: Frankies if you like kareoke and very generous shorts, Playa domingos square for live entertainment and the kids are safe, Jimmy hills for the similar but in an older environment (there only about 500m apart) and los lenticos for Simon the resident fun guy who is really good

The resort is well compact and can be easily walked end to end in 10 minutes.

Only gripe...... bloody expensive, they seem to be basing everything on the euro of a couple of years ago EURO = 3-50 per pint is excessive but the norm here

Greeat holiday, weather was bad but kids loved it so were fair chuffed and most people in resort could not do enough for the kids, lollies in every shop etc

definately go back again and found it much better than Calan Bosch and Calan Porter. Not as Blackpooly as I expected from some previous though this may change later into the season but loads of stuff to knacker out the kids

Go and enjoy it with an open mind, we did and feel better for it

happy jollies

Denis

Cala N Forcat is made up of 2-3 streets, lined with the usual array of bars & restaurants. There is "the square" which has several bars surrounding a stage area where every night acts performed for the benefit of all the bars ie. Robbie, Freddie Mercury, Drifters, Take That etc. It is hard to know when Cala N Forcat ends and Cala N Blanes starts as they seem to run in to each other.

In the Cala N Blanes part there are more restaurants and bars. A few of the bars have decent size play areas next door to them and some with large bouncy castles which are ideal for the kids whilst the parents can drink, although these play areas are about 3 euros each child for unlimited daily play with a free ice cream at the end.

The prices in all the bars & restaurants are quite expensive with a pint of beer at no less than 3 euros and a spirit with mixed 5 euros - with the poor exchange rate of 1.2 euros/£ it makes it more expensive than at home.

There is not a beach a such but lots of little coves which are not signposted and you just have to seek out yourselves, though once found they are very picturesque with loads of fish swimming about.

All in all Cala N Forcat is great for families but pick nice accommodation as you will not want to go to the beach every day as it is a trek and the beaches are very small.

i thought the beaches were very nice it was nice having a small beach to yourself where it is not over crowded and its a treat

the beach was clean with beautiful clear water which you can go so far out and it will still be up to your knees

i have already booked an 11 day stay again at the Binimar with my mates it may come across as a quiet resort but you have the entertainment in the hotel and up the town to make you have a fantastic holiday its worth taking alook at this resort im only 22 and i love my partying and i have a fantastic time.

If you don't want to do much then this is the place for you. The beeches are very small but beautiful and you can hire pedalo's for 12 euros. Sunbeds were 6 euros a day. There are snack bars on the beech but they are a bit pricey. The resort as a whole is very clean and tidy.
Plenty of restaurants to choose from. The best one we went to and great value was L'Ancora. The staff were so friendly and love kids. This was 2 mins from the talayots.
Chinesse buffets were fab, 4.50 euros for kids and 6.90 for adults, usually start about 5pm.
Park aire (bar/restaurant)situated in Los delphines on the right was great for the kids, they had a massive inflatable whale, hill and ship and ride on cars/bikes. This was free entry. Staff were very friendly and again loved kids.
Aqua park over the road tried to charge 3.50 per child for exactly the same thing.
Buses are frequent and very cheap into Cuitadella which is a very beautiful place with a gorgeous harbour and Cathederal which is currently being renovated. And loads of shops, (the men will love that) They have a market on a friday and saturday which sell alot of leather, bags/belts/shoes etc. It's nothing special.
If you want a chilled holiday and don't want to go that far then it's the place for you. Everything is close to you and the spar is just over the road from talayots which has most things you need.
Cala'n Forcat is very man made, not what we thought it would look like. The only shops it has is grocery and gift shops.
We really enjoyed our holiday but wouldn't go back as we want to try somewhere different next time.

Resort cleanliness was ok not brilliant. We only stayed for the childrens entertainment hour which was good but the same every night. The beach the staff showed us to was ok but we found a lovely little beach in the opposite direction. I would not visit this resort again.

Jimmy hills is worth a visit, the standard of entertainment is very good.
We never had a bad meal and enjoyed a night out at the races on Sunday which was good fun.

Cannot wait to return and would go and live there if we won the lottery

Not a big resort, we had 14 nights there and began running out of fresh ideas to entertain ourselves by the end of the fortnight. plenty places to eat and drink into the wee small hours. reasonably priced for the family parties who go there. Try the chinese buffet at the bottom of daisy's bar for a good value oriental meal, not a traditional type buffet, order what you want as you go. It looks too good to be true and you can order aromatic duck and pancakes more than once which makes the visit worth every euro.
Music and dancing by mainly tribute bands in and around the jimmy Hills bar area on nights when theres no football on. Not bad entertainment most nights from people who try hard.
for those who feel guilty about leaving their carbon footprint due to their flight, the islanders have recycling bins for plastic, glass paper/cardboard on almost every corner which are emptied just about every day, years ahead of us in the UK.
The bus service into and around ciutidella, the old menorcan capital is excellent if not overly busy at times. Ciutidella is a very attractive town and you feel safe wandering the backstreets admiring the buildings and shops. It closes for the siesta from approx 1pm to 5pm apart from most of the cafes and a few shops. Head for lunch to the harbour during this spell and you wont be disappointed.
We found most menorcans to be friendly and helpful. They have stuck to the traditional way of not opening some places on a sunday, the lords day and you have to admire them for that, we all need a day off.
Not full of time share touts and street sellers coming into the bars and constantly trying to flog you fake goods, its like spain used to be in the good old days.
The lack of a decent beach spoils the resort for beach lovers, found a decent one in cal'n Bosch, a short bus ride away. Fishing from the cliffs was popular with the brits who did have success using small shrimps bought in jars from the supermarkets in town.
Worth a visit for families and can be enjoyed on a budget.

Cala n Forcat is similar to any other holiday resort with one main street full of restaurants and tacky shops. Went to the tiny 'beach' once. It was nice but the roads and paths to get there were a nightmare - especially with a buggy. Not really much to see and do but ideal for kids as every restaurant and bar caters for them. Can't complain about the food and 3 of us ate a couple of courses each for about 40-50 euros.
Been to worse resorts but wouldn't rush back to this one.
