Location
Having read the previous reports we were a little apprehensive, but in all honesty we needent have been. We had requested a room in block 3 via the travel agents, but were allocated in block 2.
No great problems with it, a little basic could do with redecorating, but in all honesty how much time do you spend in your room when there is so much to do within the hotel.
We only saw 2 cockroaches - 1 of those was seen in the 5* hotel accross the road! We dined all inclusive, the food was very good with an excellent choice for ourselves and our 3 yr old son.
The kids club is wonderful with activities 2-3 times per day, and the animation team worked solid all day and night to keep the guests entertained.
We would highly recommened this hotel and will definitely holiday there again.

Entertainment was basic and the animation team could do with a large increase in their budget as they seem to be working themselves stupid with very limited resources, but they were always happy. Both the Aquamarina club and the Boulavard need new sound systems, but they probably sound okay if your plastered, as the drinks are very generous this is not difficult.
Food was a little bland in the restaurant and we booked the Boulavard for most nights, better choice, hotter food, nicer atmosphere, pleasant staff - would recommend.
Pools are lovely and clean although they are not heated it was great to get in and cool down. Sunbeds seemed limited so get up early to get one - although alot of people reserve them and never used them! Pool bar is good and staff were very friendly.
If you are going all inclusive take your card everytime you go for refreshments - they do spot check and it is a pain having to walk back and get it. They do not provide trays at the pool bar - so take the one down from your room - so much easier!
Overall we would recommend this as a fantastic family friendly hotel, despite many of the negative reports we have read we did not hear one complaint while we were there and we had a great time - may be we were lucky, but we would go back again.

The complex was fairly large with a good choice of swimming pools.
The food was good at breakfast and lunch although the evening meals weren't near the standard available in local restaurants. Food in the Boulevard was fairly bland and was often dry. I was particularly dissaponted that the tapas bar was closed as I am a fan of more traditional Spanish dishes than Chinese food and pasta.
We made little use of the entertainment but from what we saw it was fairly poor, particularly the kids disco.
The most annoying thing about Los Zocos is the fact that we were a victim of theft from our room. 50 Euros went missing from a wallet containing a lot more money so as to go un-noticed. Additionally a pair of shorts and a T-shirt purchased from a nice shop on the island were also stolen. A phone call was placed to the room to see if anyone was in on one occasion. If you stay here and you phone rings I would reccommend not answering it and hiding in you cupboard with a baseball bat as you are probably about to be robbed. Apparently this sort of this is quite common at Los Zocos.
The local beaches were very nice and we spent much of our time there rather than on the resort.
The reps including those in the kids clubs weren't hugely friendly (one was particularly miserable) as you might expect and didn't encourage the children although Owen the swimming instructor was great and I would recommend booking children into swimming lessons at the welcome meeting.

Hotel staff stressed as so many complaits going on.!!! Not good food for children at all. Meat not cooked thoroughly! Had pork chops still red in middle so we spent money out eating most of the time. They have a snack bar on site that is suppossed to have burgers, pizza, sandwiches - NOT TRUE - stopped doing this a while ago!
So unless you can put up with Tuna, salad and pasta all day which my children cannot then it's off to the restaurants outside the hotel! (more money when your al inclusive).
Entertainment for children okay ends at about 9.30pm then nothing for adults, no disco or any other music apart from the same cd playing over and over again and a parrot show!! (Nice)
I would never visit or recommend this hotel/apartments to any person ever, not even a person I didn't like!

Food was good, lovely breakfasts lots of choice. Eat at poolside bar at lunchtime or go to restaurant for more choice. Evening eat at restaurant or the Boulevard great choice of food in there, salads, meats, roast meats, veg, pizza, pasta etc. Chinese food cooked as you watch nice and cool and peaceful.
Pools cleaned daily although they are cold. Was a shortage of sunbeds on first week but hundreds delivered on last week also lots of new parasols delivered.
My daughter preferred the animation teams mini club to the First Choice one they played mini golf, French bowls, pool, football, arts and crafts to name a few and they could win certificates that were given out at evening entertainment.
Entertainment was average but watchable kids disco was on first then a show then animation team came on and got the kids up dancing again until about 11pm
Weather was great there was a breeze but believe me you need the breeze.
Hotel 5 mins walk through shopping arcade to beaches and restaurants and bars.
We had room in block 1 overlooking pool rooms basic but clean, but what else do you need we were only there to sleeps and shower.
No complaints only that we had to come home after two weeks all had a great time and great tans.

However I spoke to other people staying in blocks 1 and 2 and they were also very happy, so it seems that they have been some good improvements since the old reviews were left.
The complex is very big and there is plenty to do for all ages. It is kept clean and beautiful. The pools are great and so are the gardens around them. The appartments are quite spacious and have everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Our children are quite young, 2 years and 8 months and we managed to satisfy all their rest and dietary needs in our selfcatering holiday. We cooked and eat in everyday and this was just fine for us. We found the supermarket a little too expensive, specialy if you were buying British items, so stick to Spanish brands and you should be ok.
Other extras on the complex were also expensive like the tokens for the washing machine and the drier (4 euros each!)
The weather was nice and warm but you must be aware of the wind in Lanzarote and expect to use a jacket in the evenigs...also be aware that this is the Atlantic Ocean and the sea water may be a little cold for long swimming sessions.
The entertaiment was good specialy for children and as a free alternative for your evenings if you are not able to have nights out due to a young family. The kids disco was running every night prior to the main shows from 8.00pm and was an excellent idea for toddles to have a guaranteed night of rest.
The staff in the the hotel were really helpfull and friendly.
All together an excellent holiday in an excellent complex and resort.

I requested a room in block three which I was allocated. So far so good...this is where it all starts to go down hill.
Entrance into apartments was very dirty, many of the terrecota floor tiles were broken and there were ciagrette butts and grime all over the place.
We were on the 3rd floor, but the lift was out of order so we had to carry our cases up 3 fligths of stairs. When we opened the door ( which had been kicked in at one point ) the smell nearly knocked us out, then enamel in the bottom of the bath was all corroded, the tv socket was hanging out of the wall with all wires visible.
There were no wardrobe doors, the perspex was broken off the wall lights, and inside of these was covered in fluff and dead insects. Food very bland, mini golf in desperate need of refurbushment, material all worn and golf clubs taped together with sellotape.
Entertainment very poor.

Hotel location was quite good. Close to a mini shopping centre, a choice of bars and restaurants and also, close to the beach. To get to the other part of the town you have to go up quite a steep hill but later on in the holiday we found you could also get to the other part of town via the sea front, which isn't up-hill.
As we didn't have anything to complain about we didn't really have any contact with the hotel staff apart from asking for the TV to be switched on which incidentally costs you 3 Euros a day.
We hardly used the evening entertainments as we went off site but on a couple of occasions we stopped in for a night-cap on the way back to our apartment but the Bar was always busy and was very difficult to get served as there was hardly any staff working.
I never went in the swimming pool the whole week as it was just too cold! But there were lots of kids splashing about in there. The Holiday Reps ask you not to reserve your sunbeds by putting you towels down but people do. We used to go out to the pool at 9.30am each day and all you could see was towels on beds but no bodies. One day the reps came out early and removed all towels off beds.
I never saw a cockroach once but there was ant all over the pool area.

There were wild cats roaming around the grounds and one actually entered our rooms and stayed under the bed of my daughter who is asthmatic and extremely allergic to cats all night.
The best meal of the day was breakfast which did have a good selection - I couldn't say the same for the rest of the meals. All of the time we were constantly having to ask for cutlery or crockery as there weren't enough available and for ice as the water on offer was lukewarm. The meals were not very varied, sometimes lukewarm and there were occasions when myself and my daughter didn't bother to eat at all.
The daytime activities run by the hotel staff were the best thing about this holiday. The evening entertainment was poor and boring.
Some rooms were infested with cockroaches (I found one on our balcony which was never cleaned the entire holiday).
There were only 272 sunbeds (I made a point of going round the entire site and counting them) and only 6 parasols. I was told that there were 1300 guests at any one time staying there so the ratio per sunbeds was poor and if you couldn't find one you were reduced to sitting on the ground. I pointed out the faults I was unhappy with to both the reps whilst out there and the English manageress in charge of such matters. On our second to last day the management decided to take it upon themselves to do a sunbed swoop and anyone missing from the sunbeds had their towels removed which caused such an uproar and complaint that the staff involved locked themselves in the nightclub which is closed during the day to avoid the confrontations which resulted. Also on this day as my husband was climbing out of one of the pools, the steps came out of the ground in his hand. He pointed this out immediately to the swimming rep but nothing was done. He complained further to the management and they said they would deal with it. They just plonked it back in the hole so the problem was still a safety issue. On the tennis court and football pitch there were men welding at the same time as children were playing and the site was never cleaned leaving nails and metal pieces all over the place.
The only decent show of the week was cut short on the second week because there was a 40th birthday party which the hotel staff were attending and this was held in the area which housed several restaurants that evening which was shut to all the holidaymakers and thus the queues that evening in the main restaurant were horrendous.
I must say I would never recommend this to anyone (unless I didn't like them) and I most certainly would never go back there again.
