We were very worried about going to los zocos after reading the reports on this site when we got there on Thursday tea time we were dealt with quickly and went to our room which was basic but had everything we needed and was clean.

We were very happy with it. The food was really nice in fact I ate far to much as it was so nicely laid out I found myself having a bit of most of it, the chef was always checking to see that everything was as good as it could be and the waiting staff were really friendly.

The pools were really nice there was some litter around them but that was because people were not putting their rubbish in the many bins provided.

My ten year old daughter had a great time with the hotel animation team who did activities for kids and adults twice a day even my 18 year old joined in. The animation team also provided some of the entertainment in the evenings they were all really friendly and worked really hard. The other shows were also very good as well.

The only problems we had was the first choice meeting went on for ages and it just felt like they were trying to sell you trips and to be totally honest we didn

Just got back from los zocos, stayed in new block second floor, very nice and clean. Went prepared with ant spray & cockroach spray, sorry to say didn't have to use it once, the only time I saw a cockroach was in one of the toilets near the restaurant.

The food was very nice, plenty of choice on offer every night, make sure you take some rennie with you though, had plenty of indigestion, I wasn't so keen on the drinks though.

The weather was really hot & people who say it is windy there it is a welcoming breeze.
The staff seemed really friendly especially in the boulavard restaurant, they was even learning us the spanish lingo.

What can I say, the people who complain about this resort must be expecting 5 star holidays at 2 star prices.

We all thought Los Zocos was fantastic value for money, the food was great the staff were helpful and the animation team made the kids holiday perfect.

We had abrilliant time Los Zocos couldn't have picked a better hotel or resort.

The all inclusive was second to none and the entertainment in the evenings for the children was fantastic and in the day also. We would be coming back to this resort and hotel most likley next year.

Yes, it was windy but we didn't need jumpers at night as it was quite mild for the time of the year.

There is also plenty to do in the resort itself plenty of bars and resturants.

After reading some of the reports posted we were very anxious about what we were going to find on arrival at the hotel, but did in fact E-mail them directly to request a top floor room in the new block (we had asked first choice to do this for us but they found it too difficult to do and so we did it ourselves!). We received a prompt E-mail back from the hotel stating that they would try to accommodate us.

On arrival the check in took some time as there was a whole coach load of people arriving and only two reception staff to check everyone in, but we did eventually get our key and made our way to block 3 on the top floor. We were pleasantly surprised to find not one cockroach and the room appeared to be quite clean - even if there was holes and tearing to the bedlinen.

Although we did not encounter any cockroaches in our room we were aware that there were other parties who had to be moved from their rooms due to this problem. However others were just given a can of spray that didn't work! On our arrival we did notice a huge amount of dead cockroaches around the outside of the kids club and the block near to it - these were there for three days before being cleaned away.

The pools were cleaned every morning as we saw them doing it, but the some of the other holiday makers don't seem to know what a bin is and therefore there was some rubbish flying around by early afternoon.

We went Self-catering (thankfully), we did look at the food but it looked rubbery and dried out and very unappetising, there are so many wonderful restaurants in the resort to choose from it wasn't a problem.

We had little to do with the hotel staff, the first choice childrens reps were adequate. They tried hard, but their hearts were just not in it. One of the girls I never saw smile once and she was just quite rude to be honest, but the others were very nice and tried hard.

The evening entertainment was dreadful. The "mini-disco" for children - where do we start! Two clowns come out, run around and wind the children up for half an hour, then kick them off the stage as the rest of the entertainment was starting. As you can imagine this doesn't go down well with the children. I don't know where they find the energy but the animation team did work hard - all I would say is that it could have been much better organised to appeal to all ages of children.

Some of the other entertainment was not "family" orientated either when it could have been. One evening they began a drinking competition at 9pm - certainly not something I expected to see in a supposed "family" resort. Also, one evening after the "children's run around", two women came on to the stage - no announcement (I have no idea who they were or what they were doing there as nothing was said). They then proceeded to prance around in nearly there bikini's changing from one outfit to another - people were just speechless, men laughing thinking all their birthdays had come at once and numerous families leaving the room! We think it was supposed to have been some sort of fashion show ...... enough said!

Don't book to go to the market through the rep - the bus to the market stops right outside the resort and will cost about 5 Euros for 2 people each way - instead of the 14 euros per person if you book through the rep.

As a base in a nice resort it's passable if you are in the newer block on the top floors, I would have to say having been in other 3* hotels, I would certainly only rate this as a 2* hotel and would not return again.

I've stayed in Los Zoccos frequently over the past five years. Even now if I cannot get in there I travel to it for meals from other hotels.

I do not recognise any of the complaints listed in these pages as the hotel that me and my family have used over the past years.

We think that it's spot on for quality and value and I've stayed in most of the upmarket hotels on the island.
The problems apparent in Dec 04 are in my experience the exception rather than the rule.

I will still be staying there whenever possible.

(82,44,39,9,8,6) Viva Los Zocos. Like so many others we nearly did not go after reading the reports. But as you can see they get better from around June. Put it down to a fantastic lady called Leslie Garcia. If you go you will see her roaming around with her clip board. Give her your problem and it is noted and if it is humanly possible it is fixed.If you have kids then this is the place for you . The First Choice kids club ( Vimto Vicky and her mates) really make for a great holiday with 3 clubs a day plus the Rancho Texas trip on Wednesdays, leaving you stress free to relax by the numerous pools, or join in the many daily activities run by the animation team.This was our first all-inclusive holiday and we had no problems what so ever queueing. The pool bar has an all-inclusive area where you can just help yourself to beer, soft drinks, Ice cream and a constant buffet of burgers, chips, hot dogs, ham , cheese and various salads.At night the animation team put on a great show. Hypnotists, Starlight Express, Beauty and the Beast and Snow White to name but a few of the shows. They even invite the children to join in. The resort is a little quiet but if you like a complex based holiday which has everything then you will love Los Zocos. A Big thank you to ALL the staff for making such a great holiday

We arrived at Los zocos a little apprehensive, having read some of the reports on this page. However we received a friendly greeting and were given the keys to our rooms (third block, second floor). The apartment was basic but very clean, and we had plenty of room for our needs. The apartment was cleaned five times a week as stated, and on the times that we saw the cleaner, she was always very chearful. Outside there was litter on the ground which had been blown about by the wind, but when you observe people just throwing their litter down without attempting to put it into a rubbish this is hardly surprising. The swimming pool was cleaned thoroughly every day. The location of the hotel couldn't be better, just a five minute walk from the beach, local shops and variety of restaurants. The reception staff were always very helpful and chearful. The first choice childrens reps were brilliant with the children and kept them occupied at various times throughout the day. My daughter loved the animation team with their rendition of Dirty Dancing and Starlight Express.

We stayed in a two bedroomed apartment in the new block three and the apartment was cleaned 5 times per week with a change of bedlinen once per week. The apartment suited our family needs, was well equipped and kept clean. The hotel complex was large with two swimming areas, and if you travel with first choice the first choice kids clubs were excellent, from ages three upwards. All the reps were brilliant. The hotel offers fully inclusive or self catering. We went self catering but ate in the hotel frequently and found the food of a good quality and reasonably priced. We did not use the hotel entertainment facility in the evening very much as we preferred to make use of the kids clubs and visit the local resort.The hotel location is ideal and nearby is an excellent beach, some restaurants and shops. The hotel staff were pleasant at all times and we would certainly recommend the complex to others.

We travelled to los zocos very apprehensive after reading reports on this site.We arrived in our room about 9pm after a day travelling,( block 2 ground floor). We were greeted by about ten cockroaches (huge). I told reception who sent someone to spray within ten minutes. We were moved to new block after five days as soon as a room became available.Our new room block 3 was lovely.The only problem with the food was the flies that were always on it,my son caught a bacterial bug 8 days into the holiday and was in hospital until the flight home.The staff are wonderful especially Leslie Garcier who was very helpful all the time, she went out of her way to help myself and my family when my son became ill. The animation team Mark, Miquel Carola and the gang work so hard to give the kids a brilliant holiday, we loved Starlight Express and the kids couldn't wait for the Mini Disco.What an amazing bunch of people. There is something going on all the time to keep the kids amused,the First Choice kids rep also do a brilliant job during the day and through till 11pm most nights.Los zocos is a fun place to stay yes the cleanliness could be better but they do try. The new resturant opened a couple of nights before we came home and it is fantastic so I know the food will have been improved. Thanks Los Zocos for trying your best.
