Just got back from Alto Da Colina. Had one of the best holidays ever. Really enjoyed the complex. Pool was cold but only because weather so hot. Lovely place to stay, rooms very spacious and comfortable with everything you need. Restaurant good but a little pricey, bar meals good value but too many chips on menu! Entertainment was excellent. James, Natalie and Louise do a fab job, our kids loved them and there are lots of activities throughout the day too. Kids clubs were also excellent. Have already looked to book next year. Footie academy was also excellent, very good coaches esp Worthy who was excellent with the children.

This is a nice place to stay but the 'entertainment' is APPALLING! It ruined the week really, we thought it would be quiet but the racket and talentless cretins were on all night...singing the theme tune to home and away one night (I kid you not!). This would be a good place if it wasn't for that. The rooms and balconies are huge and well kept, there are three pools and all were not too busy. There were enough sunbeds but not umbrellas, can imagine this may be a problem in summer although the reps did say they had ordered some. The reps were available all day virtually. Last warning: Don't buy a phonecard from the reps as we arrived to witness an almighty row due to the reps giving poor advice, they only work on one phone and the people we witnessed had run up a

Well, just returned from 2 weeks at the Alto De Colina and it was great! There are a few things that i would point out as negatives but on the whole, the hotel was clean, modern, the rooms were spacious and the TV had Engligh channels so no need to miss Coronation Street!!!

We stayed in room 330 which was facing the sea but above the bar so the noise of the entertainment was quite loud but not enough for us to complain. If you like an early night, request a room away from the bar! The rooms are self catering, they have an electric hob, microwave, toaster and kettle but no oven even though they sell oven cook only food in the supermarket!!! Doh!

The supermarket isn't bad. We found another one out of the hotel, down the road turn left which had a wider variety but there wasn't much difference in the price.
One thing that made us spend alot of money was the games room! Our Son loved it but each game is one Euro and doesn't last very long so 'Mummy, can i have a Euro please' became a popular phrase! BEWARE!!!

The reps worked hard. Dave and Sophie answered all my questions with no problem and were always smiley. They helped me organise a horse riding trip which was not on their agenda. (Which, by the way was great! Ask at receoption - 30 Euros for an hours hack!)

The Entertainers were absolutely potty. They were very friendly, full of energy but i'm afraid to say that only Natalie could sing!!! Don't expect a brilliant performance but they give it their all and seem to genuinely enjoy it!

The kids reps were also great. Our son loved going to the kids clubs and he never had anything bad to say about it.

Only one thing disappointed me was the MacDonnalds party cost us 10 Euros - it's

The apartments themselves were great, comfortable, clean and ours had a huge balcony. Did not notice too much noise from bar area, we were in 132 which was a great room with sea view.

Had requested a ground floor room when booking as we have a 2 year old but were told at reception when checking in that you have to pay extra for that, while I heard the same receptionist tell another person that there were none available and you have to request that when you book. We booked in December so I don't know how much notice is required for that!!!

The location of these apartments is pretty bad unless you want to take taxis every night, we walked most evenings left out of the apartments towards a few restaurants which took about 20 Min's with a buggy. Also for those with young children and buggies the pavements are really rough in areas with few dropped curbs.

There is also a hotel being built close by and more cranes blocking the sea view a bit. fortunately our daughter likes watching the cranes and diggers and there was no problem for us with noise.

We hired a car for one of our weeks which we would recommend as we needed to get away from the First Choice "experience". Our daughter was too young to enjoy the kids clubs, the on site creche only runs 90 min sessions during the day and you have to stay on site so we could'nt see the point of using it.

Overall good apartments but real shame about the location and too much Tour Operator involvement for our taste.

The rooms were huge and the views from the balcony were stunning.

The staffs were always helpful but there needs to be more bar staff on. On most nights there would be 3 on the bar but they had to wait tables for food as well as serve drinks, and when there are over 100 people in the place you could tell they were under pressure, but they were always pleasant.

The entertainment was very poor. The reps got 100%for effort but imagine trying to re-create "grease" with 3 people none of which were very good singers!

Location is quite out of the way but taxis to the strip or the old town were only 3 to 4 euro.

Large spacious rooms, we had rooms on ground floor facing pool these seemed to be the best rooms on the complex

Pool clean but very very cold, no rush for sunbeds also another pool but did not use this one

Bar area not very big, waiters friendly but not very quick when you went to the bar to order drinks, We stayed in a couple of times to eat which we found fine.

Entertainment not that good but that

We really enjoyed our holiday at the Alto Colina. The pool is very large and never crowded! There was a problem with towels on sun beds, but the reps tried to sort this out.the apartment was enormous and well equipped to a high standard. Our large balcony overlooked the pool and the sea in the distance. the closest beach was only a 10 minute walk away, a lovely beach used by the locals as well(always a good sign).
It was a 25 minute walk to 'The Strip'(full of bars and restaurants).we didnt eat there once.We found an excellent restaurant close to the hotel.'The three Marias'was only a 10 minute walk in opposite direction to Albefeira. We ate there 6 or 7 times! and we saw others doing the same.
We had a super holiday and would recommend the hotel to families if you dont mind being a bit further away from the nightlife!

Hi my family and I had a wonderful holiday from 1st June-8th June 2006 we only wished we had booked for 2 weeks as we sure didn't want to leave lol.

Great place to stay, only one bad comment to report was the amount of waiting time it took to be severed by the Hotel restaurants staff, quite poor infact..

Other than that BRILLIANT will defo go again next year..

Bye all...

The hotel was great in every way apart from where it was situated and the food.

Food was always only just cooked, warm and the meat never looked properly cooked.

Don't try and walk in the heat to the strip with kids as its a long trek seemed uphill all time going and coming back! No bars or restaurants nearby to getaway from the hotel food, so was taxis all time to the strip where you got hassled if you wanted drugs of Asian blokes and hassled to go in bars.

Supermarket at hotel is VERY expensive bout
