This is Tunisia and so it can look run down and dirty, but in Sousse there is plenty of entertainment, pubs and clubs. The beach unless part of a hotel complex is grim. But saying all that we loved it and the Tunisian people are friendly, in the case of the single men too friendly at times, so be very careful.

Skanes had little but the airport and neighbouring hotels. There was a lively disco next to our hotel which we enjoyed. It was open until 4.30am.
Monastir was simply stressful, so too, Sousse and Mahdir. Port al Cantouaui was okay but we still got hassled to buy fake cigarettes and were invited to look in very shop we passed. We couldn't browse menus outside restaurants as we'd get enticed in somehow.
I am to be honest, totally exhausted after a week in Tunisia and would not recommend it if you want to escape the rat-race. It's worse.

The resort cleanliness wasnt to bad.
The resort hasnt much entertainment other than within the hotel complex.(didn't really go out looking)
On the day we did go out we didnt really enjoy it as u really do get hassled,by people trying to sell you things.
The beach wasnt bad, but the time of year we went didnt spend to much time there as it was a bit chilly.

there is nothing in skanes apart from hotels, we caught a train to sousse which was more lively but a big culture shock, the beaches are very nice, white sand and very clean, watch out for the jelly fish in a morning, they are swept up onto the beach near the water,
i would not go back to tunisia, the hotel is fantastic but the country is a big culture shock and not an enjoyable experience, beggars, kids, shops all hassling for money, you can't relax, we got a taxi from the hotel as we was told they was ok and asked to go to the medina, he took us to a carpet shop in his villiage instead of the medina and tried to make us buy a rug, it was not a nice experience, if i had to go back i would stay at this hotel and just enjoy the beach, i would not go out of the hotel.

The resort of Skanes is in a very quiet area so if you are wanting to visit any other parts of Tunisia you would need to either hire a car, get a bus/taxi or book one of the trips with your rep.

Skanes is quiet,a few hotels in walking distance, walking distance to the airport. Monastir is a short taxi ride away, few shops, but as the resort was quiet at this time of year the shop keepers almost drag you in, so we prefered to stay at the hotel. Tunisia is a very dry and dusty country, smelly in parts, old cars are used for taxis, some of which the doors don't shut properly, after the hussle bussle of resorts, poor roads, uncomfortable taxi rides we prefered to stay at the hotel.

We are only going back to skanes because of the fab hotel
