We went to Sarigerme in July this year, and stayed at the pegasos palace.
We would love to return in maybe 3 or 4 years time.
Please could you tell us what plans there are for developing Sarigerme into a resort. There was development across the road, opposite the main entrance to the Palace, and also heard rumours that there is going to be a golf course and several other large hotels being built.
Do you also know whether they intend to develop the beach?
We had a great time this year, but was still very isolated, and underdeveloped. Even though the surrounding area was very scenic, the surrounding area was a disappointment, as there was no where to go outside the hotel!
I would hate to see it become really commercialised say like marmaris, but in order to attract tourists, it really needs developing into a small resort. However, great the pools are at the Pegasos, Sarigerme, needs more to attract tourists to return to the area. :D

Good to hear that you had a good time in Sarıgerme
Devopments in Sarıgerme
1-Yes there is definitely going to be a big Golf complex in the village. The company developping the Golf complex will spend between 35-40 million$ The construction has just started.it is thought that the construction will be completed at the begining of the 2007 summer. we all looking forward to seeing the complex completed. With the Golf tourism Sarıgerme is going to be more different holiday place than the other holiday places in the Agean Sea side of Turkey. The Golf course is with 18 holes and the bed capacity of Pine Bay Sarıgerme Golf Resort Hotel is 1500 beds. lf you like you can take a look at the website of the company developping the Golf complex http://www.gocay.com.tr/tourism4.htm
2-A new hotel is being built just near Pegasos Hotels The hotel's name is Martı Marina Hotel this hotel includes a marina which is very important for the region. the hotel is thought to be completed next season.
for all these reasons there are many British people who are already buying properties or building. there are going to be more shopping centres in the village year by year. in my opinion sarıgerme will be a holiday town for esp uk people.
when you have any question abaut Sarıgerme or Turkey you can ask me all the time
hope this helps you. Enjoy Turkey
Best Wishes

A marina sounds lovely. We will probably return in 3/4 years, so by then every thing should be looking lovely.

Hello again
u all know Sarıgerme is so close to Dalaman and the airport. There is going to be a big marina for 650 ships in a few years. in my opinion with all developments there will be much more tourists in the region.

We(me, wife and 2 kids) are considering going to the holiday village at sarigerme but have heard that sarigerme is a bit small. just one question. Are there any other resorts near sarigerme. Somewhere that is accessible by bus maybe. When abroad we like to take advantage of the shopping. Mucho cheapness.

Hi Mustafa,

Has there been any developments in the village since last year, any new shops, restaurants or bars?

Thanks in advance

Hi to everyone

Sarigerme is now better than last year. With the British tourists Local people are learning slowly about what British tourists like. There are new restaurants, shops, 3 new and better bars, a few local travel agencies which arrange daily trips cheaper than travel agency inside pegasos.Trips are exactly same with licenced guides,insurance,air-condinited buses etc...

Yes Shrek you are right that sarigerme is a small village but developping very fast also very close to popular holiday cities.
just 15 minutes drive to Ortaca where there is a big and cheap market on fridays (Ortaca is not a holiday city thats why cheaper than the others)
You can get to Ortaca from sarigerme easly by Dolmus(minibus) which run every 15 minutes in summer
half hour drive to Dalyan&Turtle Beach
45 minutes drive to Fethiye&Oludeniz
1 hour drive to Marmaris
half hour drive to Gocek port
just 10 minutes drive to dalaman airport
When you are on holiday in sarigerme you can join daily trips to see these popular holiday cities and have chance to do shopping in these cities.
Fethiye market is the biggest one in this region avaliable on tuesdays.

Scottishmum

Here in Sarigerme with Pegasos There are 5 more big hotels. Aldiana,Magic life,İberotel,Karia and Alinn Die Sarigerme where usually german tourists and some russian stay.also The company developping an-18 hole-Golf course in sarigerme has started the construction of Golf course in winter. The Ministry of Tourism in Turkey has accepted about 17 hotels plan including a more golf course on the land between Sarigerme-Dalaman.

l know you are all looking forward to your holidays, l hope you have a great time here in Turkey and come back again
lf you have any question or help when you are here or now l will only be too pleased to answer your questions and help you

Excellent holiday :)

You say another hotel and golf course is currently being built close to the Pegasos Hotels  . How close is the building work, ie do you know if anyone will be affected by noise, etc, at the Holiday Village :( :?: Just a bit concerned that's all, as myself and family will be going there in August.

Many thanks.

Dont worry about this.this is an obligation that all constructions in tourism areas stop before the seasons are opened in Turkey. Here Golf course is being built but it stops at the end of this month a few days later.
No voice in the season.

Sorry it was my fault that l didnt write about this first.

You all just be relaxed and enjoy your holiday.

Kind Regards
Mustafa :)

Hi Ream.

Just wanted to back up what Mustafa has told you, there is definitely no building work allowed in Turkey during the tourist season, so you will be okay.

Hi to everyone

The public market in sarigerme is ok but not as big as in Ortaca or Fethiye. The market is on Sundays in Sarigerme,
The biggest market in this region is in Fethiye on tuesdays

My baby will be just 1yr old when i travel and i know it is going to be hot but i am planning on getting a good sunshade for the pram and keeping him well topped up on suncream and very well hydrated but i am a little worried now......do you think he will be ok?
My thoughts are that turkish people have babies that are ok? I know they are used to it but i think the most important thing is plently of fluids and in the shade or totally out of the sun at peak times....do you agree?
He will eat most food that is on offer in the restaurant at pp but he will need an evening meal earlier than they serve it so it is good to know there are shops in Sarigerme that i can buy things for him i was imagining a little tiny village with shops only stocking basic items and no baby stuff so it is good to know.
Thanks very much.
Is there anything in particular you recommend we do we have the baby and a 5yr old.....any trips? I came to Gumbet years ago but before i had children so dont remember much!!!!!

Thanks
Vicky

Hi Vicky
You are all welcome. lm very happy to give all of you advices about what to do in turkey

l agree with you Vicky that there are plenty of fluids so your 1 year-old baby will be definitely affected badly lf you keep him in the sun without sunshade. definitely get a sunshade for the pram before coming.

You do not need to be worried about your baby when you get a sunshade. it protects him from sun light when sun is at peak times.

There are some trips that you can join with your baby without feeling afraid.esp boat trips. For the Gocek 12 island trip we have a double-deck boat with shadowy. it is competely safe for babies. during this trip we visit 5 bays of Fethiye gulf. honestly one of the best place to swim in turkey.
l can also recommend you Dalyan Boat trip. that is safe for kids
Kids like this trip much as we see turtles on dalyan river and turtle beach where turtles have been laying their eggs for millions of years
But do not do jeep safari with your baby it is dangerous for him.also all pregnant woman should not join jeep safari. dangerous!

When you are here, you can pay a visit to me for booking

Hi Mustafa
Hope you can maybe help with a few questions as i was recommended to try you by Vicky (see above questions)
I am coming to the Pegasos Holiday Village for 2 weeks from 18th May. Having only ever been to Spain for 1 week before and having never gone on any excursions I was wondering if you could perhaps give me a guide of what the locals etc charge so i can bring plenty of spending money to fulfill all the excursions and activities we want to do.
I know that FC organise excursions but have noticed that others on this site have recommended a local company which name i have noted in my diary.
What type of prices are charged for massage, day excursions to baths, turtles, etc, parasailing?
