hi all.went from manchester airport with qatar, there was plenty legroom took about 7 hours to doha, food on plane was ok,must admit ive had much better like, was easy to get drink as well as they came around often.second flight from doha to dabolim (goa) want too good like as it was a much smaller plane and was full(reminding me of monarch)lol.flight attendants were always smiling and whatever anyone needed seemed to be no trouble at all for them,ie...people wanting more drinks, extra blankets, pillows etc, were regularly speaking to children giving them soft toysetc.full marks to them.arried in goa about 4am, the second part of flight to goa took about 3 houurs from doha.doha airport was quite nice, although i found it quite expensive for duty free stuff.we went through customs in goa and got baggage in about 25 minutes, which i though was quick.got a taxi prepaid booth outside to calangute (650 rupees)i just gave him a tenner.hotel was great nitya resort (which is aimed mailny at the indian market)checked in straight away (i will do a full review on this hotel as no one will know anything about it(wife and i found it in march, when i have a little more time as i only got in last night.think everyone knows shack situation,so no point in me mentioning in detail about this.what i will mention is i went to my local shack in bagawhen i was there first day and he hads beds out (a few) on the beach but id noticed new menu and more expensive ! same quality good food mind.so much so my hotel was actually cheaper, lol.ie,wifes baccardi breezer was 100 rupees in boscos and 65 in hotel,40 rupees for my bottle of kings, and 30 in my hotel, not a massive amount different but still youd think it would be always dearer in the hotels, this is not aimed at having a pop at boscos as i would never do that, the lads are great including owner, and i will always use their shack,im just stating how it is for other people.weather was obviously very good.only went to beach once in the fortnight as due mainly because my hotel was so good and partly due to beach shack problems (i tended to try a few local bars and a few ive never tried before which i found was quite good fun),but noticed beach was not nearly as full as at this time of year normally.even return flight from dabolim (checking in)was pretty well organised (well for goan standards),lol.well i need to goa nor done my waking up early in the morning as i cant sleep,as i say i will do a full detailed report later today on the hotel ,i really could not find a single fault, and it has been my tenth time in goa, although goa nis wearing thin on me now ,feeling as ive done it all and seen it all, that said, wife would go back tomorrow, lol.bye for now, regards leslie and tina from middlesbrough
ps,ive just tried to leave a hotel review but there is no link to do it,i know i go to hotel reviews but theres no thing to say add your review here!!!,any advive from any mod would be helpfull thanks

                Hi Les,
looks like you are rught about the shack prices going up this year.I noticed a few things which were cheaper in local restaurants and in my hotel than at the "shack" we used.Drinks mainly but simple stuff too like scrambled eggs etc.
Maybe they are trying to make up for a late start and higher licence fees.
I do not mind paying a little bit more but the idea was always that the shacks were cheaper.
It is also possible the Hotels are trying to compete more.

Also how did you get the rooms for such a good rate? The rate for a standard room on their website is 4400 rupees.

spike,i did get over to panjim,we had a good walk about all over the place,we spent about 4 hours walking about, was good, but didnt have a drink even
,lol,i didnt even have a meal as we werent really hungry although went into hotel fidalgo for a coffee and a cake, but the two restaraunts attached (i think) to the hotel looked superb inside cant remember name of them .really was a case of just browsing shops and generally looking about.
jtownson, i went to goa in march and stayed at the somy, and wasnt really over impressed there, although the lads were all great and a great pool,we thought the rooms themselves were poor,so last two days of our hols we were walking about and came across the hotel (nitya resort) and thought id just go in and have a look, stated telling me silly prices and i just said too dear and was walking out then he came and said to me ok 2000 per night, for the deluxe room (without bath) i thought thats ok but wanted the room with a bath which was dearer, and called his bluff and told him no ! i will pay the 2000 only if you give me the super deluxe with the bath, lol (well, i like a bath!!!!)and you just dont get one in most hotels in goa.he agreed,so i went back to somy got my passport (needed it to check into nitya)and a small holdall for the last two days of my hols.have to say, even the deluxe rooms are very nice only difference a little smaller and shower instead of bath .hope this is of help to you
bushbaby, not sure of the name of road its on,but places very close to it are ,,,opposite sportsmans bar about 100 yards towards calangute,or if you know where the lacoste shop/nike shop/benneton shops are, come out of there and head towards calangute, its on opposite side of the road to them shops i mentioned earlier,it would take about 3 minutes walk to get there.
