I agree I always leave left over shampoo and shower gel etc and then the maids can either keep it or throw as they wish but I like others, I don't want to take up valuable space in my luggage cos I will have bought new stuff
We leave a small tip most days in case the maid changes during our stay. Also when in the caribbean, I take pens and toothbrushes etc and leave them on the pillow as well.
I can't imagine a maid in any country being well off
cleaners are always paid at the bottom of any pay scale.

I have always left any toiletries that are half used, shower gels and suchlike, but shampoo and conditioner no way!! I pay a lot of money for my haircare products so there's no chance of me leaving them!
Lol, we left our two England footie shirts this time.
As stated at start of postings my sister also had to sign a form in reception for giving larger items (kettle and fan) to maid. I don't see any problems whatsoever for maids accepting "left over" toiletries.
wether we go to a hotel or stay in an apartment, i always leave my smellies behind, shampoo, shower jel , toothpaste etc.........
and if i am happy with the maids i tend to leave all my coins for them in a dish, with a note in there language saying thankyou!
i remeber in turkey a couple of years ago, we had a fab maid who always seemed to be around, must have been around 55/60.
she could speak no english but every day she kissed the top of my daughter head, with a huge smile.
on our last day, we gave her our smellies and an english £10 note, and how she cried........she was so over joyed.
it made my holiday

like others we always leave our left over smellies !!
we also always leave a large tip for the maid !!
in my opinion they work extreamly hard ... like all the staff at the hotel !!

Me and my boyf always leave our smellies for the maids, toothpaste, shampoo, cond, shower gel, deoderant, etc.... It saves us taking things home in the case and hopefully the maids will put them to good use!!
While in Turkey last year, on our last day, we put all of our smellies together on the bed with a small tip (about 10E) and a note saying thank you in English and Turkish.... when we came back they had arranged the towels in a special way and they then stopped us in the corridor when they saw us and said Thank you
