Went to the Gran Bahia principe for our honeymoon in September 2006 and what can I say we really enjoyed it.
The cleanliness of the whole site was outstanding,even the beach always had someone walking up and down checking for rubbish.
The food in the buffet restaurants was always brilliant, the restaurant was always clean.
The location of the hotel was abit out of the way but you needn't worry because there is plenty to do on the resort especially if you like sun bathing.
The staff hardly speak English but they try very hard to make you feel welcome.
The entertainment was very impressive because most of it is done by the staff that work during the day at the pool bars and restaurants, don't know how they find the time to do it.
All in all we would definately go back to the Gran Bahia principe.

Excellent Hotel & Holiday overall!! We went for a 2 week all inclusive holiday to the Gran Bahia Punta Cana as it was recommended to us by a friend.
When we got there it was about 5pm, there was still plenty of food at the snack bar near the main pool, the pool was lovely and warm, just what you need after a nine hour flight.
We couldn't fault the hotel for cleanliness. The rooms and gardens are well maintained, as is the lobby area of the hotel which is an excellent place to relax with drinks or afternoon coffee and cakes.
The hotel entertainment was very good. With various shows in both the entertainment stages (one inside and one outside in the plaza). The plaza had many shops and stalls selling goods where you can haggle for gifts etc. The staff were always friendly. We enjoyed the piano bar the most.
As a fussy eater myself i was apprehensive at going to an all inclusive resort. I had nothing to worry about as the food was excellent. Breakfast, dinner, tea .... There was always something different on offer. There are also al a carte resterants on site which are also of excellent standard.
The beach was also of good standard but we spent most of our time round the various pools as we were more enticed by the pool bars, jacuzzi's etc. Try to get a parasol if you can. I tan very easily but on the 2nd or 3rd day i burned even though i was wearing factor 20 sun cream. I had to buy some factor 70 from the shop and it was quite expensive (

Hotel was spot on and absolutely massive but there's never a feeling of it being overcrowded. cleanliness of the hotel was faultless and you constantly see hotel staff cleaning, whether it be the floor or the ashtrays.
Food was plentiful, fresh and delicious. Location on the beach is great because if you turn left or right on the beach you can go on some great walks.
We found taking a left on the beach the best as a 45 minute walk would eventually take you past super club breezes and to a section of beach with no hotels that just goes on for miles and the waves here are a lot more lively.
Hotel staff are all so friendly and will try and help you out whenever they can. entertainment was great and had a good variety. We wold love to go back to this hotel again one day.

Me and my wife went last year, had a great time.
Food was great, hotel clean, staff friendly. Plenty to do, weather was good very, very, very hot be warned.
