Setting/resort

This has to be the most picturesque place we have stayed, the hotel is in an excellent location. Although the resort is quite small, if you have teenagers with you I would imagine it would be quite safe.

If you like to try different foods it is the place for you, if on self-catering, if you only like basic English food I would imagine you might struggle although more variety can be found in Dasia only 8 euros in a cab, or about 80cents on the local bus (not to be advised).
You can walk easily to the marina, through to kontakali, which is smaller than Gouvia.

We went to Corfu town on the local bus and back in a taxi (13euros in a cab), I personally didn’t like Corfu town it was very busy and didn’t seem at all relaxed for holidaymakers.

plenty of watersports, two small beaches and a marina approx 20 minutes walk away.plenty of bars and a couple of nightclubs which teenagers were safe in.be careful on the roads between the bars and restaurants motorbikes and cars allover the place so any small children need to be watched all the time.noticed a play area upstairs somewhere on the main strip of shops and bars cant remember name but im sure you will find it handy for little ones on a night .food is ok with plenty of choicesame as before wouldnt return cos other places to visit.

Gouvia is basically a quiet suburb that comes to life at night. We as a family went into Gouvia every night and never felt ill at ease at any time. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars. The hotels also proved to be excellent places to eat and spend the evening. There is a beach alongside the Louis Corcyra Hotel, which is excellent. Water sports are available. There is a snack bar on the beach, which is reasonably priced and is very good.

Gouvia Town was a couple of minutes walk away and proved more than adequate for shopping and eating out. We tried numerous tavernas, restaurants and bars, our favourite being Bella Mamma situated directly opposite hotel gates. All the local people were very friendly and could speak excellent English.

Gouvia was a lovely resort, plenty of restaurants from Russian, Chinese, Mexican, Italian to local Greek Tavernas. There were some lovely walks to the Harbour and neighbouring villages.

We hired a car for 12 days, which I would advise anyone to do, there are plenty of places to visit, and so much would be missed if you didn't.

The best beach for sand is Glyfada, stunning and not busy at all, the sea is calm and shallow great for the kids and snorkelling.

Aqualand was also a great day out, amazing water slides for both kids and adults.

Me and my daughter went Horse trekking twice through Olive Groves, with a company called Horsetrailers run by Sally, a Welsh lady who's lived in Corfu for 16 years, definitely recommend for beginners as well as novices.

My husband and son went down hill mountaing biking which they had a great time on.

All in all Corfu was a fantastic holiday and it can be relaxing and exciting fun depending on how you want it to be.

We stayed in Gouvia which is a lovely village with very nice walks and plenty of shops. Bars were plentyful and friendly also.

Because it was May when we were there the season was just beginning therefore I cannot comment on entertainment but there was sufficient for us to enjoy. The beach was too much shingle for me. But it was very clean and tidy.

The Marina is beautiful and we enjoyed walking there and watching the sea plane land and take off. There were plenty of public toilets also. There are plenty of seats if you wished to sit for a while. Yes will will visit the resort again and look forward to that.

Gouvia is a smallish village with a narrow, congested main road. It has bars, Restaurants a plenty, usual souvenir shops and small supermarkets and a couple of small travel agents.

Village is alongside main road from Corfu town to the north of the island so if a car is hired it gives easy access to all parts of the island (be aware that the road layout on the island does not necessarily correspond with road maps purchased locally, so be tolerant!)

Gouvia is a lovely area. People are very friendly and there are lots of places to eat and drink.
The choice is excellent - Greek, Chinese, Indian, Fast food, Snack bars, Cafe and Restaurants. The choice is yours.

We were particulary fond of SOS, located opposite the hotel entrance. Phillipe at the top of the road was another favourite of ours.

Elements cafe was good as they had a big screen showing sky movies every evening. Good for the kids if they are missing the tv!! We watched Spiderman 2.

The main area consists of a multitude of shops, bars and restaurants.

There is only one night club in Gouvia (Whispers), and that is more for the younger generation.

The bus stop for Corfu town is just across the main road.
85 cents each way will take you there. You need to catch the no:7 blue bus. The driver kicks you off the bus at San Rocco Square, right in the heart of Corfu town.

Another nearby attraction is Aqualand - great for the kids as well as the grownups!!
