Hotel Cleanliness: The reception area of the hotel was always kept spotless; as was the majority of the hotel. Our bedroom was always kept well and the maid changed the sheets everyday. The bathroom wasn't quite as desirable. It looked quite old and was in serious need of re-furbishing but was nonetheless relatively clean. The dining areas were always well presented as were the staff. One major bad point on the upkeep of the hotel was the state of the staircases in our area of the complex. Our room was located by the main pool and you had to walk up 2 flights of stairs to get there which would have been fine, had the banisters not been falling off their hinges. This was the same for the bridge that you cross to get from the reception area to the main pool: not good if your party includes children.

Hotel Food: Not bad. what you expect for an all inclusive but definitely not for a 5* all inclusive. There was no real variety and each day was basically the same food as the day before. You have the opportunity to eat in the italian restaurant aswell (you get waited on as opposed to a buffet) and I strongly reccommend that you book this as soon as you arrive because it is almost always fully booked: if you are there for a week book at least twice then you won't feel so bored with the food. The food in the Italian is much nicer than the main restaurant although again, no great variety.

Hotel Location: Exactly what the brochure/website tells you: isolated. There is hardly anything around you at all. The shop at the bottom of the road is much cheaper than the shop in the hotel (but the owner of the hotel shop (the bigger one out of the 2) is lovely and she will bend over backwards to help you).

Hotel Staff: this is by far my biggest complaint. I strongly reccommend that if you are single females (as myself and my friend were) do not stay in this hotel. On the whole, all the staff were extremely rude and spoke to us as if we were nothing. Two of the waiters spent the first three days standing on the balcony of the restaurant watching me sunbathe and in the pool which became so uncomfortable that I lost it and had to complain to the restaurant manager. The only nice staff were the cleaning ladies, the enteraintment team and the shop owner.

Entertainment: the 'Animation Team' were great. Always really friendly and the shows and events they put on were great, especially for children.

Luckily the weather was amazing and we met some great people. Had it not been for that I think we would have been desperate to come home, largely because of how we were treated. If you are going with a family or as a couple then I would reccommend the hotel but I wouldn't go with friends again.

A few pointers for your holiday:
Don't go with Sunstar-the rep in the hotel is awful.
Book the Italian quickly
If you are looking for a quiet holiday try to get rooms near the italian restaurant (the main pool gets very noisy and the entertaining goes on their till 12pm)
Go to breakfast early (the cues get really bad)

Our family travelled with Sunstar, our 2 boys are 16. For them there was very little entertainment, although they had a laugh with the animation team. Very isolated, so if you want a quiet time then its ideal. If you are allocated a room away from the main hotel lobby be prepared for a hike to your room and down to the beach. They could do with a cable car.
Staff were always pleasant in restaurant and food was always to a high standard. No complaints from any of us.
Pizzeria was excellent, so book on arrival. Overall, a good relaxing holiday. I would go back without the kids. The 5* rating is over the top, but some lovely views from the rooms. Showers could be improved, as usual showering in the evening is a battle for water.

We went to Kiotari for a second time this year last time we stayed at the Miraluna and had seen this hotel from the outside and quite fancied staying at it.

Rather than taking the transfer bus to the hotel from the airport we took a taxi (38 euro's) we saved about 1 hour from the transfer time. We had no problems at all with checking in, we were in our room within about 15 mins of arriving at the hotel.

We were in a room at the top of the hill right next to the quite pool, that was lucky wouldn't have fancied one next to the main pool due to the noise. As far as sunbeds went, well there weren't many Germans there so didn't have to get up to early for one, just a slight lack of umbrella's though. The pool itself is great, just one slight problem with it, was that during our second week Greece were playing in the final of Euro 2004 and the pool man just wanted to get away early so he turfed everyone out early (5.45pm) then put too much chlorine in. This affected all our eyes for quite a few days. (Itching).

The main restaurant is well staffed and the food just keeps coming, I am a very fussy eater but didn't find any reason not to eat in there. The drinks are waitered served in there, they were just a little slow. Beware the restaurant can get very busy between 8pm - 9pm. The pizzeria does make a refreshing change from the restaurant, it was great to be waitered on. "Byran" the waiter in the pizzeria was great and was definately the most friendliest of all the staff in the hotel.

The room was kept very clean, the maids mopped the floor and changed both the towels and sheets everyday.

As far as the staff go, forget the reception, not helpful at all and the management, well that is another story! The entertainemnt team do do there best with the limited resources they obviously have available, but don't worry if you do miss a night or two, I can't say it was the best. You will struggle to get a seat if you go down after about 9pm.

"Magdna" The kiddies rep was great, the kids loved going down to the club that she ran, well done.

If we wanted another quiet holiday then I would go back to this hotel.

If you are going to this hotel, please pass on my regards to "Byran", just tell him "Mr Engineer" sends
his regards and he will understand, thanks.

There is no baby change facility so i had to change my son on the floor of the toilets. It is no where near Rhodes town if u have been told this, the nearest town is called Lindos. The hotel is pleasant and clean but i wouldnt say its 5*. The mini bar doesnt get filled up at all anymore. If your kids like chicken nuggets, sausage and fish fingers then they will starve as there isnt a childrens menu. The nearest thing for children is spagetti bolognaise (everyday)There are good activities at the beach and a beach bar but dont bring your bucket and spade as there isnt any sand, its all stones. Get into the restuarant as soon as its open or u will be queing out of the door for your food.

As a group, we had 3 rooms on the same floor in the Rodos Village Hotel. The rooms were spotless and cleaned thoroughly daily. The all inclusive board meant that the children could choose whatever they liked at meals - they all opted for pancakes as a pudding and there was a very good choice for the adults. Although the hotel is in a somewhat isolated position, the pools and beach, with it's FREE sunbeds, make up for this isolation. A rented car for 3 days gave us time to see the island as well as lazing in the hotel. The entertainment left a lot to be desired; because of the number of guests it was almost impossible to see anything of it. One of my group was totally blind, and the hotel staff were very helpful in assisting us.

Not an English 5* but a very good standard - the public areas as with the rooms were spotlessly clean - bed linen and towels changed daily. The room we had was large with a good size bathroom - a little 'tired' but had a fantastic view. A wide variety of food but be prepared to queue at the grill area at peak times. They will also supply packed lunch - rolls, fruit, eggs and water but this has to be pre-ordered the day before - along with a continental breakfast if you have to leave early morning or are going on a trip. Fantastic beach bar which serves all drinks and hot and cold snacks plus ice cream.
The resort is very quiet but a great base for exploring the island - a car is a must have. The hotel staff are great and where very helpful. The only downsides would be - you have to pay for the gym 25 euros for the week! (tip use the sister hotels its only across the road and FREE) Also the entertainment was!!! well different. If you don't mind being subjected to a greek version of a holiday camp - very child orientated which is ok - but not until 12 o'clock at night! Even though we have children of our own we found that screaming kids running about in all the bar and public areas to all hours a bit too much. We suggest you hide your wrist band and go over to the sister hotel which seems a lot quieter.

We stayed in the Rodos Maris Holiday Village in Kiotari ,Rhodes. We had a lovely holiday. Room. Food Staff all excellent, only downside was evening entertainment. This was diabolical except for the Greek night which was directed at adults, The rest put on by the animation team was for children. This would be acceptable if it was only for a short time. No! the "kiddies" were catered for until nearly midnight . So instead of the children retiring to their room the couples who could not get a seat had to take their drinks to their room. Maris village is great, however they must remember that children do not rule all of the time.

after reading several bad reports about this hotel i was concerned about going but i can honestly say it was one of the best hotels i have stayed in.

the food was excellent all inclusive is such a great way of doing it and this was our first time at all inclusive.

the staff were very friendly and the lady in the hotel shop was great she will help you with anything you need to know.

everywhere is spotlessly clean and its only 2min walk to beach where there is a great beach bar with drinks and snacks. so anyone who may have been worrying please don't as you will not be dissapointed.

My wife booked this holiday as a suprise for my birthday, only she`d intended to book the Rodos Maris, which had been recommended by friends. I hope she makes the same mistake this year, we had a great time. The hotel was busy with numerous nationalities and we watched Euro 2004 together. The hotel was tidy, the rooms cleaned every two days or so and most of the staff were cheerful and polite.

We found the food to be plentiful and varied with little or no queueing. My daughters,11 and 8, had no problem filling their plates with all sorts they`d not seen before {and some they had}. The Italian restaurant is a must but you should book early. Drinks were fine, sometimes waitress service and the only times we had to queue was when a football match was on and the T.V. room was very full.

The hotel is a little out of the way but the buses run regularly and a taxi to nearby Lardos and Lindos is cheap enough. The beach is a short walk away, past a couple of bars and shops etc. and we found there were always sunbeds available. Nice touch having a bar on the beach, with snacks, that stays open till late afternoon.

Entertainment staff work hard for their money, I don`t envy them, poolside games and miniclub during the day with the early evening performances aimed at the younger kids which was probably lost on children aged 10 and over. That doesn`t bother me {I`m still about 9 at heart} but I can imagine how some people might expect more. Around 9.30pm the adult entertainment {for want of a better way of putting it}gets under way. Participation is encouraged with tipsy, cross dressing dads singing to Gary Barlow on Karaoke - harmless fun! You get what you pay for -

The hotel was fantastic, it was clean and tidy rooms were cleaned everyday and towels changed etc...

The food was lovely, I don't eat lamb but there was lot's of other food to choose from so we didn't go hungry. During the day there was a constant supply of drinks and snacks the crepes and chocolate spread we delicious.

We didn't really sample the entertainment within the hotel as we hired a car and went off around the island but during the day it was very good and kept all children and the odd adult occupied.
