Eat in A La Carte restaurant which us included in all inclusive but you have to pay for your drinks. You need to book one day in advance at the reception. Ask for room on 3rd floor up as these have been refurbished.

Very quiet resort but had everything needed to get by. Bus service was very good and cheap into the Town etc. Taxis very easily available. Few Bars very hospitable and friendly. Shops are a bit poor but okay for such as small resort.

Thalos is a small place ok for a quiet holiday, all the shops seem to sell the same thing at the same prices.

The resort itself is very quiet but is clean enough. I counted 4 Taverners and half a dozen shops so if your looking for "Fast Paced Nightlife" and Designer Shops get a taxi elsewhere, they stop in the hotel carparks.
The beach looks very inviting but on closer inspection it's not that good if you have small children. It's very stoney and the water gets deep quite quickly but it is very clean. The beach is the place to have a quiet day of sunbathing as most families with chidren tend to stay by the pool.
Don't do to the Doretta Beach if you are looking for peaceful child free break, it is a true family hotel. We had not had a traditional "bucket and spade" family holiday for 5 years or so. We were looking for a hotel which would provide us with good food, nice surroundings, good service, somewhere safe for the kids to go etc, etc. We found it here.

Tholos is a great place to visit for many reasons.
If you need a quiet relaxing holiday you can,but it is an ideal base to be able to hire a car or take a bus or taxi to explore the rest of this beutiful island & then return to the laid back Greek lifestyle of Tholos.
There are a good selection of restaurants & tavernas in Tholos & not forgetting a walk up into the village to the Drossia taverna which is the best traditional village restaurant in the area.A walk along the strip reveals more tavernas & bars.Petronas taverna is also worth a visit & can be found if you head down the strip (away from the airport end).
After a visit to the restaurant a friendly bar to try is the Lemon Tree Bar which is just five mins walk further along.The Greek couple who opened the bar 24 years ago are very entertaining & friendly.If you are in the mood they will teach you how to do some Greek dancing which really made our holiday more memorable.
We cannot wait to return to Tholos but self catering in local apartments next time.

The resort itself is very quiet, which was great for us but not good if you had slightly older kids. Catch the bus for trips to Rhodes town, which is great by night and so much quieter - better for shopping too!
Otherwise hire a car if bored for a few days. Turkey is easy to get to via the town and it's a great day out.

rhodes was a beautiful island and tholos as a place was lovely.
it was clean area, however some days the smell of the sewers was horrible. there are lots of lovely pleace to visit on the island, lindos was stunning, however everywhere you go there are lots of hills, so people with pushchairs or people with mobility problems will find it very hard to explore the different places. we also visited rhodes, there is on old town and new town, the new town is very modern woth pizza hut and marks and spencers, however the old town is a beautiful place but it is much like camden market in london. the shops and stalls are packed together and there are always people outside the bars trying to drag you in to eat or drink there.
the bars along the main street in tholos are varied and plentyful. nikos does lovely cocktials and mick's pleace does lovely food. there are bars that do kareoke, and when england's playing many of them show the match, which myself and my husband loved!!!
the beach was stunning, and the sea was a perfect shade of blue. there was no litter or rubbish on the beach and the sea was clear of anything that shouldn't be there.
i would definately visits rhodes again as it is a lovely island.

Tholos is listed as one of the small resorts on the island and how true this is!!
However, it is a great place to explore the rest of the island but be albe to return to a quiet environment at the end of the day.
There are a few shops and bars around the hotel (I can recommend Mike's bar for good food and service) and plenty of car hire shops as well, just over the road from the hotel which is really convenient.

Apart from the hotel there was not much around, a few shops and a few karaoke bars but you can get a bus from opposite the hotel or hire a car.
It's great if you just want to chill out, eat, drink and get a lovely tan.
This did not spoil the holiday as we had a lovely time.
