The Solana Hotel is modern, attractive and scrupulously clean. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment on a timeshare exchange, but you can rent the same apartment in the usual way. The apartment facilities were first class. The views from our apartment were limited and I could not imagine any room having a true sea view due to the location on the main street half a mile above the bay area. Some rooms looked out onto rather claustrophobic internal areas

My family and I have just returned from an excellent and enjoyable week's stay at the Solana. All four of us agree (a very rare occurrence) that we made the right choice when we booked our stay at the Solana via the UK travel firm Freedom Direct, way back in April of this year.
This was our first time with this company and we were a little put off when we read reviews highlighting difficulties with over-booking at the hotel. Fortunately our worries were unfounded.
We asked for and got, two self-catering studios; both of these were spacious, clean, comfortable, air-conditioned, furnished to a high standard and well equipped for "light to medium duty" self-catering.
The hotel facilities were, with only a couple of minor exceptions*, of a high standard and the staff, courteous and helpful. We were all impressed by the way this, not very large hotel, managed to provide the amount and standard of facilities it does.
Although we were self-catering, we all sampled the buffet breakfast and my son and I tried the buffet dinner; both were fine and offered a good range of choices and we thought they offered good value for money as well.
It is my opinion that our stay at the Solana overall, provided us with excellent value for money and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a short or medium length stay in comfortable, interesting surroundings in Melieha.
* The public internet access facility was very slow and would not let me access my email for some reason unexplained. No computer facility for transferring photos etc.
* The hotel seems to tolerate smoking in the bedrooms, good news if you are a smoker. Bad news if like me and mine, you don
