We stayed at these apartments early May 2005. After reading reviews we were not sure quite what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised. We had an upstairs 1 bed apartment near to reception, with a large balcony area. The apartment was cleaned daily, with plenty of clean towels. We had no cockcroaches or ants.

We were self-catering and ate in the main town most days, so I can't comment on the food at the complex.

The beach which was a 2 minute walk from the apartment was clean and ideal for our 3 year old daughter. However, I would recommend waterproof shoes for swimming as there are stones and rocks under the water.

As we went early in the season the resort was quite peaceful and relaxing, but I would image it could get quite hectic in the school holidays as it is ideal for children.

Booked our own flights and stayed here for a whole month through easy Jet. Half Board for three for a mere 1000 quid WOW!!!

I wasn't expecting much, with it being so cheap, but I knew the Barcel Hotel had an excellent reputation so I kept my fingers crossed. I need not have worried.

The one bed apartment was spotless, the maid came every day and cleaned and give new towels and the linen was changed twice a week, more if needed - mesy kid

The food was wonderful, and we all put on so much weight. The staff fantastic, all but one spoke perfect English,

The kiddies club, twice a day, my son loved all the activities and the outing and a great fuss was made of the children at the kiddies discos. When we arrived my son was really shy, by the time we lef the was a totally different kid, really out going. Thanx Barcelo

We went to the Barcelo hotel for the entertainment, which was great most nights, but not so great on others, we also used the gym there too.

The bar man made a special cocktail for my son on his birthday with about 20 sparklers in and wouldn't even accept payment! He gave us some extra for his birthday cake.. Lovely people

There are five pools in total, two can be heated, but i don't think they ever are. There's a little park next to the harbour pool which my son liked and mini golf which the kiddies club took my son many times and for free.

I made many good friends during my stay here, had a wonderful time and was so upset to leave. I can truely say I'd love to go back,

The hotel was OK.

The most disappointing thing was the main pool was closed for refurbishment which was very disappointing as we had not been notified before we travelled. Although there are 2 other pools to use they are not as nice as the one featured in all the brochures.

We spent most of our time at the Barcelo Fuerteventura Hotel next door as you are able to use their facilities with it being the same chain, the downside of this is it is about a 10 minute walk away but is worth the effort!

The cleanliness I felt was quite poor. We were there for 11 days and only had our towels changed twice by the maid. It was possible to get towels changed yourself at reception which is what we had to do.

The food again was OK - chips every night not much variety on the vegetable front!

The location was good only 1 minute from the beach.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

We did not see any of the entertainment.

Arrived at the hotel and our room was ready.

Arrived to our apartment and was shocked as we walked in as it smelt very musty and also smelt of cats wee. The bathroom door didn't close and one of the terrace doors didn't open. Large lounge and bedroom and tastefully furnished. Very small bath with shower that wasn't very good. Bath was not even big enough for my 8 year old to lie in. First impressions were that I wanted to be moved. However it was late in the evening and we were very tired.

Crawled in to our bed after midnight and shocked to find that the sheets felt wet where the bed was so damp. Biggest concern was that I hoped that my son

This was our third visit to Fue but first to the Barcelo. Must say, has to be one of the best 3* hotels we have ever stayed at. It was modern, clean and well equiped. Maybe we were lucky but managed to get a room overlooking the beach on a corner plot which made it feel more like a private villa than just an apartment.

Didn't try out any food at the hotel but had a few drinks in the bar one night. Wasn't for us as it was all geared up for kids ( even when they should have been back at school) but if you like the idea of boggying on down to ' Startreking accross the universe ' or joining in on the animation whilst sipping a warm San Miguel from a cardboard coke cup, then it should be right up your street. If not, don't panic as the resort has plenty to offer for the evenings where the hotel fails.

We actually booked self catering but the hotel had a very good offer to pay locally for the up-grade to half board.

It was very good value for choice, quality and quantity. Our maid complained about her aches and pains so cleaning of the apartment was basic although we had our towels changed five times in the week.

The location is very good but the hotel and bungalows stretch over a vast area. The entertainment was OK but the animation team had only arrived from the Dom. Rep. on the 3rd day of our stay so it wasn't as organised as it could have been.

My only real gripe was that the two main pools, you know, the ones that are featured in all the brochures, were closed for major refurbishment and although Tui have representatives on site, they failed to tell any of their clients.

On arrival we were told our room would be ready in approximately 1 hour. We were told our room number so went to have a look at where it was located - the bungalow was across the road from the main complex and had seen better days. (Beware if you are given a room nnumber in the 1000's - all need refurb from what we could see)

The windows were filthy - due to sea spray although it was sheltered from the sea by another row of bungalows - the cleaner wasn't there. After an hour we asked was our room ready - phone call made and we were told it was - the cleaner was still there. We could have done a better job ourselves - and in fact had to - the room smelled damp and we had to buy airfreshners - towards the end of our holiday our clothes were beginning to smell damp.

The windows were filthy for the next 13 days - they were cleaned the day before we were due to come home! Beds were changed 3 times in 2 weeks! (advertised on noticeboard as 4 times per week).

We don't totally blame the staff - we don't think there are enough to do the job properly. However some of the apartments/bungalows definitely need refurbishing.

However can't fault the location.

Went for Xmas and got Just what I wanted, a relaxing holiday. The weather was quite windy but was breaks for sun.

When we got there we were upgraded to appartments with private pool and locking gate. The appartments were beautiful, proper kitchen with little lights under units, all facillities, beautiful living room, double glazed windows with view of sea. Large bedroom. tv at no extra cost, safe at no extra cost.

The food over xmas was wonderful, lobster, prawns duck, champaign with salmon for breakfast and other food.

Father Xmas arrived xmas day on donkey gave out present while I drank hot chocolate and ate luxury biscuits, yum.

There was adequate evening entertainment but good films on tv.Xmas night entertainment very good. Little resturaunts on complex looked wonderful.

Not a great deal to do in day if weather not boiling although there were games on the beach which is right next door to bar, with wonderful views.

We were allocated an apartment about a quarter of a mile walk from reception and had to ask for a porter to push our luggage and guide us. On the way we picked up about 3 stray parties who had lost their way on this huge complex. Signposting was inadequate.

The apartment was dirty - we had to clean all the shelves and cupboards before we unpacked. The bed base was a concrete plinth! When we mentioned this at reception later in the evening, we were offered another apartment, which we accepted. This was much closer to the main part of the complex and was refurbished with a proper bed! But this was also dirty and had a weird smell all the time we were there. The bathroom was dire - mould around the bath, broken tiles and dirty floor. There were nasty stains in the kitchen cupboards. We complained to our rep the next day and he came to look at the apartment. He asked for it to be thoroughly cleaned again - this was done by 2 maids in 15 minutes! The rep tried to speak to the duty manager who was 'unavailable'. The whole week we were there, the patio was never swept, although high winds blew all kinds of rubbish on to it - the laundry area was filthy when we got there and never cleaned. The bed linen was only changed once - advertised by First Choice as being done 3 times a week. They also advertise apartment

After this visit which is the 7th time I have stayed at Club Castillo..Disappointing !

Cleaning is practically non existent. The whole complex (although refurbished recently) is starting to look very worn and dated in parts.

Entertainment is rubbish..Same thing year a on year.

Food in El Menu resturant is.. Okay..thats it. If you want decent food, go to the hotel or, better still, the "Slow Boat 2" Chinese near the kids playground -fantastic !

Barcelo are charging top dollar for all services/drinks etc but if they don't do some cleaning, painting, and repairs pronto Club Castillo will look like a "has been."

Come on Barcelo - get to work before it's too late.
