Lovely apartment, big double bedroom with ceiling fan and blackout curtains. Lovely new looking furniture throughout. Kids slept in lounge area on settee and pull out bed. Kitchen had fridge, two ring ceramic hob, kettle, toaster. Lounge area with large treble wardrobe (safe in bottom), coffee table, tv, settee and chair. Double patio doors (with blackout curtains) led to outside where we had two sun loungers and patio table and chairs. Clean towels five days a week, although the amount of towels we received got less and less. We asked at reception and got some extras. Maids usually good, some swept up, some didnt!! Hotel has lovely grounds, big reception area with very helpful staff, lots of entertainment going on in pool/bar area. The pools at the end of the bay are lovely (saltwater) but you have to be up before 9 to get a sun bed there. Some sun beds had towels on them but remained empty until 3 or 4pm. Very annoying, especially as it says on signs that you may not reserve the beds. Our room was about 2mins walk from the beach which was fantastic. Small grocery shop within complex, gifts shop and several places to eat including the creperie which we liked very much for lunches! Reps trips were expensive we thought, and many are to Lanzarote. We went on the Jandia Express. Alternative place up in main part of resort offered the same a lot cheaper but we didnt try it so cant comment. Had a really nice holiday, couldnt fault the accomodation at all.

From looking at the brochure on this hotel it looked brilliant, but we were soon to discover it was completely different!!!
The hotel cleanliness: was ok, nothing great though, floors never swept ect, we actually looked under the bed though to find a massive amount of filth!-Certainly not 4*!!!

The hotel food: I have never seen anything so terrible, we went down to breakfast every morning (not that it was worth it) to find no bread for making the toast, and when we asked a member of staff it took approx. 20 mins to fetch some, the eggs were also swarming in grease-urgh! Not to talk about the bright red uncooked sausages...I suppose evening meal got a little better-not a great amount though, the same things day in day out.

The hotel location: I felt like we was in the middle of ghost town, we went at peak times, although there was hardly any bars nearby and no people to go with it.

The hotel staff: how ignorant can people be to their customer who pays their wages, well from my recent visit to this hotel I was assured that they can be very ignorant!
The hotel entertainment: what entertainment???? Do they know the meaning of the word...the brochure stated all these "daytime activities" you had to walk around for an hour to find out what and where they were taking place, why do they not announce it or at least ask people if they want to join in. As for night time well, them acrobats I could have done better myself. Terrible!

This is the worst holiday me and my family have ever had, I was ready for another on my return-a total waste of my time and money.Dont go here!!!!!!!!!

we stayed in the barcelo el castillo appartments.we had appt 2152,wow! we overlooked the beach.the rooms were great, the terrace was huge with two sunbeds and a table and chairs.it was cleaned daily and we always had fresh towels etc.we were half board, the restaurant was excellent, there was a huge choice of food available, basically it was eat as much as you like (which we did)the menu was never the same, unlike a lot of hotels.breakfast was a revelation, again eat as much as you like and unlimited tea coffee and juice.we didn't stay for the entertainment as it was mostly for the children so i couldn't mark it very highly.by the way,Emilio in the reception bar makes wicked champagne sangria.Would go back tomorrow if we could it was excellent!

We stayed here form 31-3-2004 to 14-4-2004.The reception staff on arrival were excellent, promptly changing our room, as we had been given one of the old bungalows in block M but really wanted on of the refurbished ones with a terrace our 14month old was happy with this as he could run around the enclosed terrace that was lovely and big. The maids came every day with fresh towels and bedding was changed every couple of days apart from sun and wednesday.the location is fantastic and the beach is lovely. my third time in caleta and would definately stay here again.

Arrived mid-day to find our apartment was not ready, but were given a voucher for a drink whilst we waited. We explored the complex (huge) and came across our apartment (eventually) to find it overlooking the beach but beside one of the complex restaurants. As we didn't want the smell of cooking, and not being very private on the terrace, we asked to be moved - not a problem - moved to the middle of the complex in a refurbished apartment (double glazed windows).

Apartment well equipped, pull out sofa bed for our 11 year old, and a separate bedroom for us (double bed with an overhead electric fan)! We had a lovely terrace which was well furnished, table, chairs, and two sunbeds. Cleaning standards were good, five days from seven.

Didn't eat in the hotel, so unable to comment on the food, and did not see any entertainment.

All in all, would recommend complex, and will be returning, but request an apartment in the area where we were - apartment numbers in the 2000's.

Only complaint would be the main pool was being refurbished, and when it is finished it will be fab, but there were two other pools to use.

This was our second visit to this hotel and it was even better, the second time around!

The rooms are huge with balconies that you could stay on quite comfortably, but with 5 pools and a beach beside you, who needs to stay on the balcony?

The staff were brilliant and the accomodation was really clean. We were half board so used the on site restaurant every day. This was great with plenty of choice, as the hotel caters for lots of nationalities. The hotel animation team worked really hard and if you took the trouble to get to know them, they really looked out for you. My 7 year old son was so in love with Tina (as was my husband!!)and it was great she remembered us the second time around.

We are going there again this year (August)and hope that some of the animation staff are still the same! Caleta itself is quietish but there is lots to do if you look around. Being a port there are fishing, diving, submarine trips etc. plus a good array of shops, crazy golf and bar visiting. The nightlife is low key, but at the hotel there is daily entertainment, which is good fun, but not Andrew Lloyd Webber!

The beach is clean and safe though the water is a little cold! Would advise you hire a car and go to Correlejo and Jandia as they are very picturesque, and the beaches are great!

Just a tip ... when booking, search through all the holiday companies, most of them are in this hotel...and even though I have gone through First Choice, and this year Cosmos, Portland Direct are comming in very cheap.. so if I go here for a (sad) fourth time I will probably book over the net through PD!

We have recommended friends go to this hotel and each one of them has been really pleased with it and can understand why we keep going back.

It offers great fun for my son, activities for my husband and a sun bed for me!

If you go here have a good one!
