Spent two weeks at Galeon Playa, arrived back 1/9/04.Hotel generally very clean, our room was clean every day apart from Sundays & Wednesdays. Only had breakfast once in hotel restaurant--not very nice and a tad expensive, loads of places nearby to eat so not a problem. Location fantastic-two beaches very nearby, both very nice. Hotel staff were helpful enough even though there seemed to be a mass shortage of fans when we arrived, we recommend you reserve one when you get there. The commission charge for euro travellers cheques at reception was 2.5% at the time we were there, There were other places where you can get no commisson if your prepared to hunt around.

Could not fault the entertainment, the Thompson Reps were absoulutly fantastic!!, Alex, Ruth, Tony, Paul, Natalie, Becky, Hannah, Jenny, Jo,Clare 1 & 2 and all the rest all very friendly & helpful at all times, a really great bunch of people who do their job extremely well.
We have been on plently of holidays in the past and these guys are easily the best we've ever met, they really get you envolved and always have time for you and the family. Rancho Texas night out is a must, it was excellent and the Aquapark really good too.
Sports Cafe does really great food, The Slow Boat Chinese-beautiful, we didn't have a bad meal the whole two weeks.
If you are due to go this year and you want any specific questions answered we will respond as best as possible.

Arrived end of August, placed in new block, 1st floor, overlooking childrens playground. Very nice, spacious apartment, with nice views from the kitchen window, and once opened, a welcoming breeze.
Had a small problem with the door, but this was rectified within 10 minutes.
The Thomson reps were great with the children, both took a liking to 'DJs Alex and Paul!' DING DANG DO!
The resort itself has plenty of restaurants and shops, and pleasant beaches nearby, overall, we all had a very enjoyable holiday.

The hotel cleanliness was reasonably good, but the cleaners did come a little to early for our liking! But it was an ok job, with the exception of them moving some of our stuff around!
The location was excellent, there were many bars, restruants and clubs, a very short distance from the complex, and with a large group like ours, this was a godsend, with something for everyone to enjoy and to suit everyone's tastes.
The hotel staff were reasonably pleasant, but it take a while for a few complaints to be sorted, but they were friendly enough.
One of the bad things about the hotel was the noise every night, you could hear practically everything, and could be woken up by laughing, shouting and pretty much anything going on in the surronding corridors.
The entertainment was poor, with pretty much the same every night, the younger children enjoyed the disco.
Some of the shows were excellent, but not all of them suitable for the younger children.
The children's clubs were helpful at some points, but not all of the children enjoyed them.
The pools were absolutely freezing, but were ok once you got used to it. The pool side was extremely dangerous, and we had many accidents within our party, which were caused by the water by the side of the pool. Also, one family within our party, were on the ground floor, opposite the pool, and had steps leading down to the pool. On one occasion, I was making my way down these steps and fell down them. We did mention this to the hotel staff, but the problem was not resolved.
Also, the reception staff were extremely rude and not at all friendly.
But all in all this was an enjoyable holiday and i would visit this hotel again.

This was our third visit in four years and again everything was fantastic. The only time we changed was to the superfamily in Gran Canaria - Eden appartments, we will not be going there again....... but that's another story.
Location is almost perfect with the choice of two beaches 100 metres either way.
Rooms cleaned 6 times a week.
Although brochure suggests entertainment 3 times a week, every year there has been entertainment 7 nights a week, - this may depend on time of year though, reading other reports.
Atlantic bar is a little on the small side, non-smokers to the left, smokers to the right. Being a smoker I have no problems with this but none smokers may find it overpowering.
Entertainment usualy goes on 'till about 11:30 so expect some noise as people return to their rooms. If you are on holiday to enjoy yourself then you will be one of these people so it will not disturb you!!
Have booked again for July 2005 (it's 14th July 05 now - flying out on Sunday) Hope to find the place as good as has been for the last visits.

Reps were very poor,hardly anything going on ,this was maent to be a SUPERFAMILY hotel.
Hotel was clean and consisted of 2 blocks,old and new.We were in the old part and you could really tell,light switches hanging off the wall.general air of 'rundownness'.New block appeared much better.
Overall the hotel is ok for a standard type holiday but is NOT superfamily quality..

Second visit to the Galeon Playa and it was just as good as our first trip. Everything from the cleanliness of the apartment and public areas to the helpfullness of the staff and Thompson reps based in the hotel was absolutely unbeatable. The hotel is perfectly situated for all amenities but is not too noisy in the evening. The apartments are a good size and well laid out and maid service is six times a week. We will definitely go back there again - roll on next year!

Stayed in new block 2nd floor, bedroom overlooking the bay very nice. Room OK well sized. The towels could do with upgrading a little tatty & smelly. Hotel restraurant give it a miss better food in the Restort
The Italian in the square is very good worth a visit.
All rooms need air conditioning it gets very hot at night.
The atlantic bar needs air conditioning to also for people who smoke NOT ! It is supposed to be a none smoking room, with the smoke and the heat and sub standard entertainment give it a miss if you are a non-smoker.
Kids clubs great, resort goos beach at back of the hotel better we thought. Irish Bailey for breakfast good value and English stuff.

galeon playa fantastic time had by all. entertainment team very good and fit (especially tony!!) a must for your holiday is to visit the irish bailey we recommend the lasagne (good value for money and friendly staff). location fine if you don't want to go sight seeing and just want a relaxing holiday. it seemed a long way into the capital and the sunday market which is over-rated.
