Reading some of the reports about this hotel, IE - miles from nowhere - steep hill - five differnt levels in the hotel - water cold - food not very good. I decided as I am booked to fly out in June I would give it a trial run in May, and if I did not like I would cancel. No way Jose!

I am going back, the place is excellent. Ok I may be getting on now but I have stayed at some terrible 4 stars especially AI. All the staff are superb, cleanliness superb, food brilliant. The gardens in the hotel are beautiful. Hey wait for it, San Miguel beer on draught and no fighting at the bars to get a drink and also fresh food cooked at the outside bar down at the bottom pool area.

My son whom I went with says he will be returning with his partner nearer the end of the year.

This hotel is very impressive. From the moment you walk in you are impressed with the service and accomodation on offer.

I do believe this hotel is of an excellent standard compared to other 4 stars we have stayed in.

The food is good omelettes scrambled eggs and fried eggs all cooked to your liking at breakfast. In the evening mountains of fresh prawns carved meats, strawberries and on one day we counted 23 different deserts on offer. The staff are very obliging in the hotel.

The pools are beautiful and well kept but it is a trek back to your room if you have forgotten something.

The location is ok but we had 3 days of terrible weather and needed to go out more than we would have done had the sun been shining but taxis are cheap 6 euros to centre playa. We did walk a few times though.

I did not rate the entertainment but my husband and 14 year old thought it great.Proffesional acts were brought in but The entertainment room was a bit oppresive compared to the rest of hotel.... a bit like a den.

Wish we could afford the Melia del Duque .That is how the other half live......

Off to a bad start as part of luggage lost at airport but that's another story!

Much to our surprise, hotel turned out to be one that we'd "discovered" on one of our previous visits to Tenerife whilst out walking one evening - we did not know when we booked it that this was so.

Rooms spacious, twin beds plus a sofa bed (used by our 16-yr-old who said it was very comfortable). Very clean and maid service also good.

Main restaurant - all meals excellent, loads of choice. Always a carvery, grill with chef cooking to order either meat or fish as requested. Children's food counter too. The most delicious sweets every for dessert. As we were there over Christmas, we had a gala meal on Christmas Day which was superb - smoked salmon, prawns etc. to start followed by turkey and a delicious gateaux.

Two major let downs to the hotel - one being the swimming pools, the only thing that ought to be in those pools are the penguins from London Zoo, it really is that cold. Even on Christmas Day, when everyone wants to say that they were in the pool on Christmas Day proved to be a flop - it was freezing - suggest they get some proper heating for the pools. The other was the entertainment in the evening - terrible to say the least. Difficult to provide entertainment when you have a mix of English, German and Spanish (majority Spanish on this occasion) I know, but think that the hotel could put a bit more thought into it

Other than that, we had a great time and would recommend this hotel to anyone - on the proviso that they take onboard the comments made above.

What can i say? This holiday is ideal for almost anyone. For me and my mates, it was our first time away together and it was awesome. The food is great, there is such a huge variety and there are so many different meals daily. If you like a pint the spanish beer, Dorada, is definately drinkable and one plus is the bar is open until 1am. As it is all inclusive you can't go wrong with drinks such as creme de la whisky (similar to Bailey's) and sex on the beach for free. During the day, it great to be around the pool, which is also where the activities centre is. However, the centre is not just for children, and the staff - Mario, Raul, Taru and Caroline will keep you amused continuously. The hotel is essentially a relaxed atmosphere an has a honeymoon vibe to it. But there are plenty of families around as well, with many different nationalities visiting.
Currently, there is a lot of development taking place around El Duque, but that should not put you off! There is a shopping center a minute walk away from the hotel with a gym and crazy golf course, and you can walk to the nearby beach in about 5 minutes.
The rooms in the hotel are nicely sized and are well decorated. There are two swimming pools, one on the same floor as reception, and one at the bottom, each nicely sized and very cooling.
If you feel adventurous in the evenings, you can always head out towards Playas Las Americas. Essentially this is where all the clubs are and are situated near Veronincas. Beware though, it isn't for the faint-hearted with many clubs open until 5am and alcohol overload is a certainty - Only this time it isn't free.
One of the great things about Del Teide is that it isn't too close to Las Americas, and will take about 10-15 minutes in a cab ( and about 10 euros in fares.)

I have to say that the Jardines del Tiedes was one of the best hotels Ive stayed in. the food was lovely, great variety and plenty of choise. The staff were excellent could do enough for you. It was my husbands birthday and they provided a cake and champagne free of charge and made the whole day special. We stayed in a Junior suite which was roomy, with a doulbe sink bathroom, lounge and a large balcony with sunbeds and mattresses. The hotel had beautiful gardens with a grand waterfall falling the levels of the hotel. It was just beautiful and i would recommend the hotel to anyone. The entertainments staff were friendly and catered for all age groups. All in all a fabulous holiday.
