Beware!! There is no air conditioning in this complex.

My top priority when booking our family sun holiday this year as always was A/C I made this quite clear to the travel agent.
As a party of 4, 2 adults and 2 big teenager boys (one a friend of my son)
I really wanted a 2 bed apartment but could not get one with A/C.

We decided on a one bed in the Ocean Palace/Resort in Tenerife because it

I'd like to clear up some confusion over the name of this hotel.

We booked through First Choice and they call it "The Ocean Resort Hotel Las Americas". You could not walk to las Americas from this Hotel as its just too far.

Whilst there it was apparent to us that it was in fact called "Ocean Palace Hotel Costa Adeje/Playa Fanabe"

Despite all this the hotel we thought was excellent, it does live up to its 4 stars. We had a room on the 4th (Top Floor) and it was spotless. The food was good with quite a good selection and choice.

First Choice laid on all the entertainment and they did a brilliant job as all their staff were very dedicated to their jobs and worked very hard, always with a smile on their faces.

The hotel reception staff were also very friendly and helpful. However some of the dining room staff did seem a bit miserable but I noticed that if you made the effort with them they seemed to brighten up a bit. The evening crew were much better and worked really hard.

Our party consisted of the following ages 41,37,18,17 & 13. This always helps when reading reviews as you can gage it better if you know the ages.

The Ocean Palace is very much out of the way from Las Americas, we did go a couple of times by taxi so if want the nightlife it is accesible. You can also walk down to Costa Adeje beach front and Playa Fanabe where you will see numerous bars and restaurents to suit all tastes. The area itself is very well to do compared to Las Americas and i'd call it the posh end of town.

The beach is about a 10/15 minute stroll downhill and there were plenty of sunbeds and sunshades always available if you could not get around the pool. I know lots of people don't like doing this if they are all inclusive but come on people you need to see the resort your are staying at. My partner even had a foot massage on the beach, this was a first.

The entertainment at the hotel was very varied and catered for families that want to join in. So if you like games and quizes, bingo, karaoke then it is for you. We also saw a parrot show, queen tribute, 70's nite. There is something for everyone in my opinion.

During the day lots of stuff laid on for the kids of all ages up to 17. Plus water polo, volleyball, football, darts, pool, water games etc. Its true about the sunbed dash but you get that at every hotel these days. Maybe more sunshades would be a helpful..

No other complaints apart from the following if I had to be picky... more knives and forks in the dining area, more tables and chairs near poolside bar and more hot water between the hours of 5pm and 7pm. Being at the top of the hotel meant going back to change a little earlier to get a good supply of hot water. We did mention this to reception and it did improve slightly as the week went on. Talking to other people it seemed that the hotel rooms were better than the self catering apartments. We actually had suites in the main hotel and they were wonderful with little kitchen, fridge etc and adjoining living room, it even had a small hallway, which is not what you expect from a hotel room. Loads of storage space we could not fault it and would definately go back.

The weather was really hot for end of March and start of April, we had a lovely week.

We did a boat trip to Los Gigantes and saw dolphins and pilot whales, this trip was brilliant as we got a full meal provided. You could even get packed lunches from the hotel to take out with your all inclusive option so we had more food than anything else. You can not go hungry in Tenerife that is for sure.

An excellent Easter Holiday....

This was a great holiday at a great hotel.

The food was excellent. There was everything for everybody no matter what kind of food takes your fancy. The entertainment on an evening was brilliant.

Kids disco hour and at least 2 further shows. Most of them were produced by the own hotel entertainment team but they were brilliant and very professional. We saw Snakes show, birds of prey show, parrot show, Grease the musical, Abba tribute and Robbie Williams tribute all in one week. The wife even got 2 karaoke nights in as well!

The only negatives I have is probably the sunbathing area. We went in March which to me isnt a busy period. We simply could not find a sun bed in the main pool area know matter how early we were in a morning. This was sort of ok as there are 2 pool areas in this hotel and we could always find a sun bed at the less popular pool... but... they didnt always open the bar at that side of the hotel or if they did it was often quite late in the morning or after dinner.

I have to say by the way the staff at the hotel were quite friendly apart from the bar staff... they hardly ever smiled and were quite robotic... I know it must get a bit tiresome doing this job all day but everyone else seemed to know how to smile!

Lastly, finding a sun bed that wasnt broken was also a bit of a challenge. If you dont mind just layong flat all day then not a problem.

Overall though a very nice holiday and a nice hotel. Would go again!

Just got back from this hotel.Went all inclusive. The location is a little further away from things but for families its ideal.10 minute walk to the beach.
I found the hotel clean, the maid service good. The food was to a good standard and the hotel staff friendly and very hard working(do they go home?).In all, yes I would return to this hotel. In fact would consider going back there next year. The alcohol beverages have such little alcohol in them you could drink quite a few pints and still not feel a thing. This is good because it gives you the illusion of having a good drink, without the after effects. This is in the hotels best interest as they dont want to see drunk rowdy foul mouthed people who are throwing up everywhere on free booze. My whole trip I didn't see one person drunk in the hotel.
After reading other reviews I was dreading going.(we'd already booked before reading the reviews).
But I'm glad I didn't because all in all its a pretty good hotel all round.Bear in mind this is February 08, so not as busy as in mid summer. The food was varied and a good quality although after one week of eating like a pig I was ready to come home.
So thumbs up from me.I stayed in the hotel not in the self catering appartments so accomodation may vary in quality. The room safe was 25 euros for the week and that included a refund and the activating key when returned to reception.
One last thing dont book your excursions through your rep, they really are overpriced..loads of places do them outside check prices..eg trip to loro parque with the rep ..adult 53 euro per ticket..I got ours for 31 euro per ticket.big savings on a family

Me and friend arrived on the 30/11/07 to ocean palace for 1 week all inclusive, as we went to check in at reception we was greeted by very miserable receptionists who seemed to have no time for you.

Me and my friend are 18 and 19 and came away just for a quick break and to drink plenty of beers! There is only one beer on tap which is called reina, its well watered down and you need to have about 60 pints to have any affect. The first 2 days the food seemed really nice with plenty to choose from, but after a few days it seemed to be left overs from breakfast e.g. scrambled egg used in fried rice, and the quality seemed to get worse. The breakfast was very poor throught but there was some good dinner meals and evening meals.

We stayed in the appartment side it had a large bedroom, decent side bathroom, and a large balcony. We had a television which was in shocking condition it looked like it had been welded together and people have melted it. The fridge was well hammered!
The maids did a fantastic job, clean towels frequently and clean bedding.

The entertainment was great on a nightime dancing to the cartoon heroes when your absolutely steaming is a hilarious. Mr ocean palace event on a thursday night is absolutley un missable. The reps did a great job Natalie and Erin, but you have to watch out for Slippy Sean!

All in all we had a great holiday with the people we met and would return back!

We have just returned from this hotel, after a week there. It was very tired and had clearly seen better days. The standard of cleanliness is appalling in the public areas, and as for the attitude of many of the other guests.....it makes you ashamed to be British.

How this can be rated as a four star is beyond me - litter and leftovers by the pool all day, unidentifiable black bits in the swimming pool, at one point my husband watched two children playing catch with a dirty nappy by the pool while I saw a small boy weeing against a bin by the side of the pool area actively encouraged by his mother!!

The rooms were nice, spacious and clean, and the reception staff were quite helpful, I did find that I had to apologise for being British as I felt so ashamed of the fact.

The food was actually ok but the restaurant itself was more like a canteen, not what one would expect from a four star, I've stayed in better three stars, and this is by far the worst all inclusive hotel I have ever stayed in.

Needless to say I wouldn't return, and I know from talking to fellow guests that we're not alone......

I'm not too sure whether I actually enjoyed this holiday or not. We went out 18th Dec this year and flew back on xmas day.

The First Choice entertainment team and kids club reps here are very good. Natalie one of the entertainment team has an excellent voice and the girls quite obviously enjoy their job. However, it felt a bit groundhog day to me. Perhaps I've just stayed in too many first choice hotels!

The hotel itself is ok, its not fabulous and there is no way on this earth its a four star. We were lucky enough to be allocated a superior suite in the hotel which probably did make the four star grade. However, having seen the other hotel rooms I would say they are three star.

The food is a different matter, I'm hard pushed to give it a two star rating. It was the same old boring bland stuff almost every night. We've been all inclusive several times and I would say this is the worst food I've come across in a hotel yet unfortunately.

If you get a really cheap deal here and are not used to staying in decent four star hotels then you will probably love it.

I have a real problem with the amount of seriously drunk people who stayed here during the period. These people just let their kids do want they want while they stayed at the bar and got drunk then made a twit of themselves.

Definitely won't be returning to this hotel, but as I said, for a cheap deal its ok. Quite sad as First Choice are a great holiday company and this hotel really lets them down with the food quality!

Just returned from Ocean Resort must say it was my worst holiday ever. We arrived on 21st December and returned home on 28th December.

We where allocated a room which was smelly dirty and in disrepair the bath was rusted there was mould on all the walls and rooms where dirty and smelly.

We complained to reception and they allocated another room but it had a rusted bath, shower curtain was badly stained there was dirt on the walls mould on the ceiling and surfaces where dirty and sticky. I contacted the Rep next morning he sent cleaners round they didnt do much cleaning didnt make any difference place still dirty smelly and in disrepair. The food was of poor standard the pool area dirty kids found sausage in pool.

My advise dont go here. A poorly managed hotel

On arrival we felt the reception staff were very unfriendly & lacked patience. The room was lovely but we were staying in a superior suite which we pre-booked. We had a jacuzzi bath but only used twice as it smelt badly of stagnent water once turned on. Cleaners were of high standards. The Restaurant was very clean but looked like a garden centre with plastic tables and chairs. The food lacked creativity and was chips, chips and more chips every meal, the choice was limited. The beer and wine was poor, soft drinks and water was ok. Pool area was very slippy and often littered, half the loungers were broken, only saw the pool get cleaned once, alot of dirt on bottom of pool. The toilet which we had to use by the pool was absolutely disguisting, on our first day there was a door frame pulled off with nails sticking out which Lisa cut her arm on, the floor was black, no toilet roll no hand dryer & cockroaches in most days, I refused to take my daughter in there so had to trail upto reception on next floor. There were various confectionery machines located around the hotel most of which took your money with nothing in return. There was very little daytime entertainment if you did not use kids club. The only rep who showed any interest in the daytime activities was KJ (a new rep). The evening entertainment went ok as quiz and bingo, after that came the one hour kids club which was same four songs every night, same kids on stage, other kids never got a look in as if the reps Erin & Natalie had their favourites! We arranged our own trip to Aqua Park, but decided to use the hotel reps to book our trip to Loro Parque this took 5 attempts to get hold of a rep to pay for the trip! In our opinion this hotel is nowhere near being 4 star! We will not be returning to the Ocean Resort, Palace or whatever its called ever again.
